Ok. Slave pits may not be the best out there, but they're not the worst, either. I just don't think they need to be a priority to upgrade.

Slave pits are awesome, man. Low maintenance. Build one embassy for 30bc and make up all your lost influence in one shot.

I got almost nothing else but National Merit scholar (didn't need it anyway...), and I think it's partially because I didn't have a class rank, either. Of course, the reason is that I skipped a little over a year of HS (a decision I do *NOT* regret), but that didn't seem to matter much when considered according to "objective" criteria. When it got subjective, sure, this guy's unranked because he's already in college..... I highly recommend leaving HS early, if

He asked what other people thought about it, and I answered. Nothing wrong with that. Southpark isn't exactly family entertainment, either, but the difference is, they don't pretend to be. They don't open up with a song that says, "All you ever see is sex on TV"...and then follow through with episodes that are full of sexual innuendo. Or the phrase, "things that make you f-ing cry"--that shouldn't even be allowed by the FCC. Ha ha. H

I still think a 216 PSAT is probably good enough for a National Merit. If memory serves me right, I got a 203 when I took it, and I got full tuition to places all over the country. Subtract 10 from 216, that's still higher than what I got. I would be very surprised if NMS is no longer based almost entirely on PSAT anymore. I believe around 90% of the people who initially qualify for National Merit eventually go on to be a finalist. At that

I think 216 ought to be good enough to get you a National Merit Scholarship. NMS's get full tuition to a number of places, like Oklahoma, Baylor, Tulane.... Although, when I took it, there was no Writing section, so my scores and yours might not be the same (mine they took Verbal, doubled it, and added it to Math).

The economy was completely different. The PQ of a planet affected everything: the productivity, the taxes..... If your PQ was below a certain level, you made zero taxes off the planet, so everything you spent was deficit. Some planets you could still colonize, but you had to terraform it to above that acceptable PQ before anything useful would come of it. If you found a PQ26, that truly was heaven. No asteroids (that was DA). Less ra

I upgraded my PSU to 550W and the Gateway works fine. $10 for SupCom, $170 for the video card, $70 for the power. Lovely. The best part is, now I think SupCom sucks. It plays fine, I just don't like the game. LOL!

Yeah, it's a prebuilt. I've always found those cheaper, because they get the OEM versions of Windows. I'm also worried about cooling if I upgrade the PSU. There's a PSU fan, a case fan, a CPU fan, and the video card fan. I'm sure it will cool just fine all winter long.... I'm running onboard video Nvidia 6150SE. Ancient, but that and 4gig DDR2 run Galciv2 just fine.
9800GT is not quite the top of the line from nVidia at the moment, and I doubt you need something quite that powerful to play Supreme Commander; in fact, I strongly suspect an 8500 or 8600 series would play it just fine.
I know, but it was on the shelf for $160, and it came with a $20 rebate and a complimentary copy of Front Lines. I figured I could keep using it on my next computer. Only problem is, I may be already looking at getting a "next computer" now,

It's a GT, 1 Gig.. It looks like a kick-butt card, too, and for only $160; but not so great of a deal when you pour a $100 power supply on top of that. Sad thing is, this was originally all supposed to be to play Supreme Commander, which costs a whopping $10.

That's fine. I would love to trade them a Peace Treaty for all of the techs they own. [e digicons]}:)[/e]

Am I correct in believing that an SLI-compatible motherboard is not a requirement if I only care to run one video card? It said on the box that it needs an SLI-compatible motherboard, but I think that's only if you want to run SLI.
You might check your motherboard manual to see what types of graphic cards it will support before you purchase a new card.
Shouldn't PCI Express support all PCI Express? I just got burned installing a GeForce 9800. The computer didn't even recognize it was there. I installed a much lower-end card and it worked fine. I think it's cause the card is rated at 400W, and my power supply is only 300W. Good gollee, computers are starting t

It has its funny parts, but the premise of it I find offensive. Don't portray the show as quality family entertainment when it's anything but.

I thought I'd chime in on a few things here: First, the half-price factories the Iconians, Drengin and Korath get are far superior to Traditional Factories. At 25bc to build, 3ip, and 1 maintenance, you can spam those more than twice as fast, for more production and for cheaper. The only drawback is they tie up more tiles, but that is a temporary situation. Korath Dark Influence is just plain overpowered. Korx get three sweet Military Starba

The Korx AI in my games have never been heavy hitters. The Drengin and the Korath tend to dominate, and the Iconians keep stealing Galactic Achievements from me (I have recently learned to espionage them out of that, though). What I find ironic is that the Korx AI never beat me to Restaurant of Eternity or Galactic Bazaar, even though they start with the freaking techs. As a player, though, the Korx tech tree is pretty good (although Super Trader sucks). I
