You know, a nice big game on a couple big monitors would be quite fun. I never played on more than a single 21". It may be time to resurrect this on a twin 24" config.

I hate Steam because of the DRM, but namely one aspect of it: if you're not connected to the internet, you can't play the games. That's BS. And then they gather statistics of how many people play their game & how often--there is no way you can do this and NOT gather private information. Besides the privacy issues, what do you think is the first thing I want to do if I'm not connected to the net/don't want to connect to the net? Play my

What I'd love to know is, how do you find people with a great work ethic in the GAME industry? I don't know about everybody else, but I'm not into games when I've got my work hat on. Also the game industry is long hours and doesn't pay squat. If you've got the work ethic, there's plenty of good computer jobs out there that pay 6 digits.

Federalist tends to be my fave, but I have reached out and tried others, and I like Industrialist and Technologist. Both help with the colony rush.
Who's asking for trillions to be spent?
You can count me in. If we can spend trillions killing Iraqis and bailing out Wall Street investors who make no real contribution to humanity, then we can spend trillions advancing science to improve our environment.
This is perfectly fine by me since I have no support for any plan that requires developed countries to reduce their emissions while paying developing countries for past sins.
Indeed. These "carbon indulgences" are stupid. Actually, I think we're barking up the wrong tree altogether even focusing on emissions at all. We need to be focusing on research. Look what got us here in the first place: the works of Edison, Westinghouse, Nico

Banned as part of your intervention. We're doing this because we love you. You have a cat allergy, and that's a disease. You need help. We've arranged a flight for you to an allergy clinic in Arizona where there are trained allergist professionals who can help you with your problem. Your bags are already packed.
They're scientists who don't believe in heisenbergs uncertainty principle or einsteins relativity theory
Actually, the majority of scientists already do not believe in Einstein's relativity theory; 95% of it has been debunked. A fact well-known among high-energy physicists. Not the general population. Not that he isn't highly revered among the scientific community--his contribution is huge. The whole scientific method thing: hypothesi
Seriously, now, it's time for war. Why is there so much CO2, so much oil being used? PEOPLE! How do we reduce the number of people? Famine, too cruel. Genocide, to punishable. How about another world war? I vote yes, which is likely an insult to any of our armed forces.
Depopulation, even radical depopulation, is becoming more popular an idea than you may think. A guy gave a talk down at the University of Texas advocating radical planet depopulation. H

Ah, the shifting sands of culture. Back in the 50's we would have been debating the scientific studies proving that smoking is not bad for you. Funded by the tobacco lobbies themselves--how can you argue with that? They certainly had plenty of money to fund the best, top-notch research. I wonder who funds the studies showing that cars do not cause global warming? You do the math.

Yay Freelancer! A buddy of mine programmed that; or at least a big part of it. Although I haven't played it myself--don't tell him I said that, okay? He's like a single guy, lives with his mom in his 4000 square foot half-million-dollar house. We had Halo parties there.

I like Diana from the old series--boy, she's hot. Except she probably looks older now. And she's a lizard.

I can't believe CnC3 or Kane's Wrath didn't make it on the list....and CnC Generals did. OMG CnC3 had me hooked for so long. Also a few sequels: Halo 2, for one. Halo 2 was clearly better--that game resulted in me AND all my friends losing entire nights of sleep together at Halo parties. And Rise of Nations: Throne and Patriots. The replay value on RoN:T&P made it light-years better than the original. I liked Civ3 better than Civ4.

If the V mothership took on the mothership from Independence Day, who would win? IMO I think it comes down to Independence Day's strike craft and shields vs. V's hot alien chicks.
Fun games are probably the best value for money on the planet.
I'm not so sure about that. I'm thinking of something else that's fun, that's free.... Of course it may not be free when you factor in the cost of dinner, horse carriage ride...diamond ring...kids....

I do think micro will probably improve substantially for 4X games over the next couple of years, now that it's becoming more common to have dual-screen monitors. Picture Galciv2, looping through all the planet screens, while on the other monitor the galaxy view zooms and pans to the planet and highlights it. Or going to that mini-menu on the galaxy screen (left side) and the other monitor instantly brings up the planet detail screen. *MUCH* better. I do agree abou

It's good to be aware of what's done in the past, but there is no point in trying to find an "industry-wide, standard" economy model, because the whole point of this industry is to try and differentiate and innovate. The only "right" economy model is one that's never been done--and even that may very well be wrong. If you don't innovate the economy, you're going to have to innovate on something else; like, say, 3-D, or the AI, or combat (or no combat at all), or something. B

You know, if you only scratch the surface, I can see how it could be perceived as broken. I mean, tax is a function of the square root of population, population has nothing to do with productivity, entertainment centers' 10% morale never really gives 10% morale, why even have 300% farm tiles at all, there's the silly 20k bc limit, bonus production is half paid and half free (?!?), miniaturization doesn't miniaturize anything (it makes ships bigger), ships can actually come out of
