I tend toward the opposite: I think there should NOT be choke points, dead man's land, boundaries, etc.. It's space. 3-dimensional, really really, big, and the vast majority of it empty, with a few sparse points to island-hop. No need to copy-cat other strategy games--the unique reality of space sells itself. The whole Influence thing doesn't bother me, though. Look why Cuba is so important: it influences the entire Car

That's why I think attempting cold fusion at liquid helium temperatures is practical. The particle accelerators are already working in that space, researching materials, etc., so it makes sense. I don't care that much about the colliding protons itself (other than the fact that you have several world-class quantum physicists at your fingertips). I just care about those superconducting coils. There's a reason why the SuperCollider was funded by the Do
Cold fusion is *Theoreticaly* possible
You know my theory? That cold fusion isn't cold enough. Instead of working to lower the minimum temperature required, why not try working down at liquid helium levels? The Hadron Collider is already there, working on superconductor materials. We already know matter behaves quite strangely near absolute zero. The only catch is, the whole point of fusion is to create energy.&nbs
I didn't do much with trade when I was Korx. I chose Evil instead. My playing style was, I chose Korx just for the Military Starbases and not researching weapons at all. Only defense. Military SB's were my offense to hold me over till I stole some weapons tech. After playing the Korath and Iconians, I later discovered that the Korx "bonus" in mining SB's is overrated. Drengin, Korath, and Iconians get weird techs for mining and eco
That's not what he said.
Doesn't sound like a bug to me.
In WWI, the German people were convinced by the media that they were winning the war, right up till the day before Armistice. Interesting trivia fact.
It makes a lot of economic sense to over-buy on the hull and fill up the extra space with that first-level Armor. It's only 3bc, ~14 hull size. You get both the Defense and more hit points for cheap that way.
http://siewkaiyek.blogspot.com/2007/09/encounter-with-mini-dinosaur.html I finally found evidence to substantiate the claim that jungle lizard tastes like chicken (a.k.a. "you can use the web to support just about anything"). You can see a jungle lizard, clearly pictured there on the page. Further down, a renowned scientist, a.k.a. some schmoe on the internet, says it tastes like chicken. It's true. Case closed.
we might still be afraid of falling from the face of the Earth and even call someone who's grass is greener than ours a witch !
Ah! That explains why Mecca and Jerusalem are so much holier than everyone else...because of their grass! Those real agricultural hot spots must be calling a lot of people witches.
1. There is no lower limit on debt allowed, but if you go below -500bc, you won't be able to produce or research anything. 100% of your economy goes toward the debt. Also your morale will slowly go down the longer you continuously remain in debt. 2. Don't know how you check at a glance. I've always just gone through my planets and found it (using the Previous and Next arrows at the top of the planet screen). If a planet of yours gets cap
Science's greatest minds once thought the sun revolved around the Earth, and that the Earth was flat. You can't logically deny that.
Actually, I'm going to deny that. Scientists have believed the earth was round for about as long as the scientific method--and hence, scientists, existed. It was the religious leaders who aggressively promoted the earth as flat and the center of everything. It's really not that different from the scientists-vs.-pol
There may be a better way, but I always just double-click on the starbases and add up all the modules. Or, if I see (7/11) modules installed, I know that I have upgraded it all I can--but that just comes from experience. If there was a galaxy-wide viewer that showed all the mining bonuses from your starbases, that would be totally awesome. It's hard knowing which ones still need upgrading. It doesn't matter how far away it is. Although t
You mine them, but you also add modules. That boost your bonuses further. Just keep sending constructors until you can't get a mining bonus any further. Researching the right techs unlocks more mining modules as you keep playing.
Maybe you could also kidnap Santa and chop him to bits on TV, so that all the children in the world start crying so hard that their parents will throw themselves from windows.
The awesomest gift for all your little kids this Christmas season. Hope you don't have too much trouble breaking it to your kids to what extremes Santa has had to go to make ends meet this year. ht
The most popular strategy by far is to get all the races to go to war with each other. What I discovered is that it's not too bad to have races at war with you, either. They spin their wheels throwing ships at you, only to die. Much better than having them tech up. Works especially well if you didn't particularly grab a lot of starbases that game.
If Canada can terraform Alaska, I'll be impressed. If they build Aphrodisiac, I'll move there.
I have pretty mixed feelings about this new section also.
You want to know what's bad, try the computerized version of the GRE sometime. Talk about apples and oranges. The written and the computerized version are nothing like each other, the scores bear absolutely no resemblance to each other except at the very middle of the bell curve, yet they're presented to grad schools as the same test. It's like all they did was take two complet
Heck yeah. The AI doesn't research Defense very much. I'll research missile defense like mad and put out ships with crazy high D and maybe 1 or 2 attack. Then I'll fleet up and maybe put up a military starbase to get that attack up. Ships still die, but nothing I can't handle. I can usually find a good victim without too much trouble, steal like Stinger IV from them.
It's terrible to see a perfectly good birthday cake go to waste. Can they send it to me? I wouldn't mind.
I can see validity in arguing that global warming is not man-made, but to say the world is not getting warmer at all is right on the same smarts level with holocaust denial. I mean, on the poles, it's pretty obvious. The glacier used to be here...now it's there. When we built our homes, we didn't need air conditioning...now, we need AC. However, given that the atmosphere's CO2 content has doubled in the last century, it sure would be a wild coincidence if global war
It looks like when the weapon tree was designed, Missiles were supposed to be easier to get higher damage, but also easier to counter with defenses. Don't know if that's reality or not, but I always research missile defense regardless of what the AI does (unless I'm Korath--they don't get Aeron).
