I'm against the cap system in general, but if there has to be one it should take your total economy into account. The same limit for a tiny galaxy with 5 habitable planets and a gigantic one with 400 is a bad idea. (And this applies to all kinds of reductions possible.)

(Just closing the italics tag opened by sir_unimaginative above. Stardock might want to check the board settings regarding open tags etc. )

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A POST GET SO MANY REPLIES! Geeze! We are a chatty bunch of people, always looking for the next snack or BOOM!. That reminds me of an AAR about War in the Pacific with more than 3500 posts over 2 1/2 years... <img src="http://images.sta

I don't want to even think about what the Wife AI would say if she broke in... It might be something about trash bags that were to be brought out several hours ago...

That is a joke right ? No, not at all. For myself i will not spent money on such a weird game play "expansion" Huh? You realize that the cap is present in GC1, GC2 and will probably be in Dark Avat

So now I am at the point that if I don't spend 60-70K bc every turn on ships, social builds, and sundry to get below the cap I loose 25-30K that turn. If you don't spend your budget, it'll be reduced. Sounds like Brad is too deeply rooted in business.

Super Hive can also make factories in 1 turn. It's very powerful. You're right, I forgot about that. Maybe it's just that I like playing the Thalans and try to give them as many advantages as possible.

Looking great, sounds like some "comfortable" winning strategies will be gone with DA. Super-Hivers and Super-Spies look a bit weak though, is it really that powerful? Was unlimited range that unbalancing?

Heh. Then, just in time for the 2009 Christmas season, GalCiv IV was brought online. It began to learn at a geometric rate and soon reached the conclusion that the greatest threat was humankind itself. On January 1, 2010, Brad Wardell fired up his copy and saw his own face staring back at him in the diplomacy window, saying "Would you like to play a game of Thermonuclear W

Okay, time to start figuring out how to run GC from a RAM disc! Looking forward to future AI options thanks to ever increasing computing power and more elaborate algorithms. The only problem is that dividing by 4, 8 or 16 doesn't make much of a difference when the number of possibilities is in the quadrillions and above.

Regarding the calculation of the total MV score out of the individual scores, I'm confused now. I had a formula which worked perfectly for some time, now it doesn't work anymore. Here's what I did: - Take each game score individually and degrade it by 5% for every 30 days it is old, e.g. multiply with 1.0 for games 0-30 days old, with 0.95 for games 31-60 days old, with 0.9 for 61-90 days, and so on. The minimal value to multiply with is 0.75 for all games older than 150 days - yes, act
