Some crashes were occuring when high end video cards were overheating. Throttle frame rate stopped these video card that were running so hot they crashed the system from from processing more than was needed to max out Galciv2 graphics. Stardock has said that throttle frame rate should not affect any video performance or be observable.

Where else can you get such improvements to a game you have already bought? I'll consider my $ 30 as a thank you to Stardock for the already released 1.2 update. That was worth something to me and they did that for free.

Adjust the background ambient light level in your game options menu under the video tab. less than 50% should give you shadows depending on your video card. Also the pan and tilt and zoom of your man mapalters the shadow definition

"Fall" usually means September October November. or traditionaly after the American holiday of Labor Day (this year September 4th) December 1 is usually considered winter though when people say that winter starts and ends varys a little bit around the country. In Michigan, some people may consider 1 November winter, while in Florida thats mid fall. But remember game developer times are promises only. Stardock is better than most but release slippages are a way of life. I tr

Known issue. Carielf has said it has been identified as a bug, not a deliberate feature, that was the developers were trying to fix by 1.2. It still exists in 1.2. They are aware of it and may fix it eventually. One observation is that all races suffer equally, in the no production round, and that if you look at the graphs it seems that only military production is affected, although no tech advances or social production alerts are created. Best advice now is to try to keep the game active b

Try viewing the battles at half speed, it makes the bobbing less annoying and almost magest on the larger ships IMVHO. Also copy the new fleet formations from the demo mod into the fleet formations folder in /galciv2. The new formations make it much more realistic as small ships tend to be in more coherent formations to the side or in front of the big ships.

All the above. Win the colony race to the best planets by increasing teh speed of your base transports. After the colony race, every empire will have about the same number of planets. At the higher levels the AI with its bonuses will out produce you. To compensate, you must conquer one neighbor early have two empires worth of production. Don't conquer more tahn one before you are ready or the AIs may see you as a threat and gang up on you. As soon as you can build or research or tr

Well thte AI is not up to my talent level yet, but it is putting up much more of a fight. My key advantage seems to be speed agressiveness and more intel because I have better sensor range and use speed. If I had to fight at the AI speed and sensor ranges it would be hard to defeat them at higher levels. As it is now the AI production bonus help its lack in these areas now. I agree with the above posted comments

No the best you can do is do a "print screen " screen shot when you pause the action and then paste the bitmap into a graphics program like MS Paint or something more advanced. You can then convert it to a JPG or some other smaller format. ex. [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=119108#919361"]https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=119108#919361[/link]

Hmm Had this occur to me to. I had to close the game and start over. Frozen for over 30 minutes. I too did have the AI algorithms on. The game had been loaded and stable on my desktop for days. I don't remember if I tried to hit the turn button area. Game did not crash to destop or generate crash report. I finally gave up and closed the game out by going to the menu and reloading the save game. Don't remember if I was able to quick save the game when the turn button was froze

AI seems to be creating more effective fleets on larger maps and ships are being redesigned much more often. In the midst of a multi turn offfensive, I see new ship designs coming out to fight me. Been playing all the betas and the AI seems to be more competent tactically, (attacking out from planets, etc) and strategically, banding together against aggression. Still don't know if the Intense AI does anything or if those are improvements general to 1.2. I am pl

The AI seems to have a much better plan with 1.2 than the other versions though. Most of the time I find worlds filled with factories now and only 1 maybe 2 farms, and no more than one embassy or morale improvement.

Mini freighters will always have a movement of 1. They are symbols for the trade route and act as targets. They are not manuevaerable ships. Did they ever have more than 1 defense point?

By observation best fleet seems now to be a combination of (1) several large or huge hulled ships with a big enough attack to penetrate the best enemy ship on average with max optimized defense and (2) a mass of fire support screening ships that are either (2a) A small hull with best weapon x 1 and some defense or (2b) a small or tiny hull ship best weapon no defense and very cheap. With 2a some small hull ships may survive, especially if you have tech edge. With 2b you ass
