The planet quality bonus is the most exploitable feature of the game. Basically every time you come into posession of a planet you get a 10% or 20% bonus. However their is no flag on it saying that this bonus is allready applied, so heres an easy way to exploit it that many people do. One person said, in a previous topic, he got mars up to 30 PQ doing this. What you do is you let an alien colonise a weak planet in your territory. Then it will switch over to you, it gains the PQ bonus.

No no no no no no no. No. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes Yes. You know why? Because its allready like this in the game according to most of the UP "laws". Your denying something that allready exists in the game. I recall many a up proposal that charges other civs for having starbases or planets in your "territory".
The 20% one takes too many points better spent on influence, diplomacy, or something else. It costs EIGHT for something that doesn't really make much of a difference in the game compaired to what else you can get with 8. ohhh wow, one or two more tiles on a planet! Thats unless you exploit it: I found out a sneaky tactic to take advantage of this. Mars is usua
Native resolution for the game is 1024x768. The game will only run on increments of this unfortunately. Nope, it runs on 1400X900 for me easily. That is a widescreen resolution. What he needs to do is have the resolution available as a desktop resolution. If it is then he can play it on that in galciv. The thing is though
Take away all victory conditions except military and that leaves it up to you when the game ends. Yes, lol. No point playing after that.
The only thing mike is that then they will work like a player race. I want them to be the evil super powerful high tech race that appears late game to kill all to give a late game challenge. Though this is nice. I just wish i could use them as an opponeant in the metaverse. MOO2 is Masters of Orion 2 an old 4x strategy game (that's the same genre of s
On Tough difficulty, the AI get the Intelligent AI. The two things are one and the same. It is slightly confusing, but the AI settings and the general settings have different names for the same thing. I see what your saying, i set the ais difficulty individually so i was talkign about tough. I ment intelligent by THEIR difficulty, not the game
I hate having to "handicap" myself in how i play the game intentionally. It makes it even MORE boring, for many people. The game shouldn't require you to personally limit yourself to play it. I ALWAYS hated that excuse for any game, it was the #1 comment for Master of Orion 3 dont bring it here. If he thinks its easy just play at a higher difficulty. Problem solved. I just dont feel like fighting computer opponeants non stop and would rather play games that I can play with friends. I
What is the higest approval rating that affects population growth? 70% right? Thats what I saw on some table i downloaded.
Maybe he's in a location where newer monitors are hard to come by...but yet he got this game. If he has a computer that can RUN Galciv 2 hes in a location where he can get a monitor that can run that high.
I want to use, when someone makes them, a UI mod. However i dont know if i should since i do metaverse. Would using such a mod prevent me from submiting a game? The UI mods obviously dont change anything with the game besides eyecandy, so i dont see why they wouldn't be allowed. Also what other mods, if any, work in metaverse?
I've seen the arceans build multiple economic starbases around my planets. The share bonuses with allies rule wasn't on btw.
I really don't know why you wouldn't want to anyhow. You should always be building something, otherwise you'll fall behind. Yes exactly. Also the micromanagement would get annoying if you want to repeat build.
Surely if all the races were balanced, it would be easier? Because none would get an upper hand, you'd be facing off against lots of weak enemies instead of one strong one. No, if the AIs were equally smart a few would get the advantage eventually. Its like that on other games. The bonuses on planets they take, and the outcome of wars t
Cool, beta 2 is out. I'm at work so i didn't know... I hope it works.
Well obviously, it seems, using the small ships like this would be unbalanced. What you do is have carrier modules work like on Master of Orion 2. Each module has a set number of ships assigned to it. However you design that ship, so you can choose how it looks or whatever, and that is what goes into the modules. If its destroyed it will be replenished automatically after the battle. However it will only be able to have enough spaces for a couple of weapons. OR you just de
Ah, here's the catch. Intelligent still doesn't apply all AI algorythms. You need to play on though to get full AI. Are you SURE? I always heard that intelligent was the highest. Anyways it doesn't matter. On the lower difficulties they should all still be even as far as AI goes. Their shouldn't ALWAYS be 2 or 3 races only that do good.
all of this type of game does that, its nothing new.
It seems to me like small ships do pretty well throughout the game already Well the thing is that if they take one hit, which obviously they will, they are immediately destroyed by most larger ships. ESPECIALLY later in the game. Sure they do well if they are not targetted first though. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center b
Fast growing population is also important if you want to invade a lot of planets.
The thing is on a huge or larger map you need ALL the AIs to perform well. The thing is in this game only 3 of them do anything in the game and as a result you find yourself always fighing the same races. Once they die everyone else is destroyed easily. They need to make all the AIs play as well as the torians Altarians and Arceans usually do, if not then the maps will always be boring. Might as well play with 4 players, would be more of a challenge.
Was wondering if you guys could possibly make a hotfix or something for this cheater flag thing? I want to do the beta but since i can't submit to the metaverse i find myself just waiting for the next patch. I'm sure others feel the same.
This is why i wish their was multiplayer. I'm getting bored as wel but I have like 3-4 friends who want to do a long involved multiplayer campaign with me. They want to meet 2 days a week to do it as well so we could easily finish a game. Seriously, this game needs it or else i'm going to quit due to boredom and wait for Space Empires 5 that will have that feature.
The problem isn't that the AI in general is dumb. If you play as evil you will see that the races that generally ally with good players always do well in any game. If i'm playing an evil races ALL the races that ally with me besides the Arceans are horribly bad and I have to give them tons of tech for them to be competative. The thing is, it seems, that the Torians, Altarians, and Arceans are blessed with good AIs while al other races are either average or crippled as far as an AI goe
It seems that the AIs that always do good are the ones aligned with the Torians and Altarians, who usually do good anyways. By aligned i mean ones that are friends with those races. I've only, for example, seen the Drengin do good ONCE only because i gave them an incredible amount of technology so they would trade me hull technology. It seems the AI can't compete against itself very well. Sure the races that do good fight wars well, like the Arceans do very well in wars I see them fi
