I've got a saved game that fails every time I end the turn (already sent in). The final line of my debug.err is: ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\EndTurn.cpp at line 2127. Same file, 6 lines later. Waiting for the next beta build.

Technically, this is not a "Trojan Horse" Strategy. A Trojan Horse would be if the disk you gave them with the tech on it was filled with tiny men. Ach, crivens!
I think the "Old" tab was added with one of the Dark Avatar builds. I don't remember it being there at all in plain ol' GalCiv2. When I started playing again under DA, there it was.
On the right-of-passage treaties: if one civ doesn't have one with another civ, does the route manager for ships plot a course around the other civ's space (assuming such a path is possible)? Or, does it say there's no straight line path so "I ainta goin' thar"?
I also can't delete the Exceptions from within SE. I have to go to through that big, long path and manually delete everything in the SmartException folder. Not a problem since I've put a shortcut to the folder on my Desktop. BTW. I've sent two reports to [email protected]. I haven't received an automated "yes, we've gotten your email" reply back. Is that normal?
Some more information: - When I ran SE, it showed me two exceptions (with the same date) to report. AFAIK, I'd only had the one crash while SE was running. So, I figured it was just some kind of left-over. With what I've found, below, those two exceptions have the same time stamp (as well as date stamp). I assume the one with the higher serial number in the file name is the latest. But, I don't know why two exceptions were generated for one crash. - Even though SE won't wr
BTW: the subdirectory is ZippedExceptions instead of Zipped Exceptions (no space). SE doesn't give a "location is not available" error if the directory already exists, but nothing gets written into it. Also, from other posts around the forum, we're supposed to email these things to [email protected]. Yet, SE defaults to telling us to email them to [email protected]. Which should it be?
Did you run SE from SDC or directly? It may need administrator privileges, so if you run it via SDC, it should inherit them from it. Until you mentioned it, I wasn't even aware I could run it from SDC. Initially, after downloading it from SDC, I ran it from Start Button | All Programs | Stardock. At that point, either I or it set it(self) up to run automatically at startup (with normal permissions). Doesn
I'm running DA 1.7 Beta 1 under Vista Ultimate (x86). To help report any problems, I installed SmartException 2.00.007 from Stardock Central's "Free Stuff" area. I had a DA crash last night and tried to have SmartException package up the stuff to send off. When I clicked "Email selected exception," it came back with an error message saying: "Location is not available C:\Program Files \Stardock\SmartException\Zipped Exceptions refers to a location that is unavailable...." <br/
Thanks, guys! Oh, and since I have to keep the Korx from getting wiped out, i fI take them over, do I still fail the mission? As far as winning the scenario is concerned, there's no point in it. All you really have to do (assuming Dithir has enough spyable tiles) is start churning out spies, find Dithir, and survive long enough to dump all the spies at once onto the planet.
Did all of my debug.err show up here? To me it looks like it just fizzles out about 1/5th of the way down the scroll bars. When I try to edit the post, the whole thing shows up there.
1.7 Beta 1 crashed on trying to enter Colony Management. I had just finished designing a ship in the Shipyard and exited it. I saved the game and tried going to Colony Management to tell the shipyard Governors to start building that ship. Upon clicking the Colony Management button, DA crashed. Based on the info here, I changed my email address. Everything looks good. When I changed my email address under My Account, it sent an email off to the new email address. I had to click on a link in that to finalize the change. The email also has a little blurb in it saying: "If you are using the same email address for your Stardock.net Account as you have used to purchase Stardock products then there is a good chance that when you change your email that you will also be changing y
The only way I managed to survive the Dreadlords is by realizing they're stupid. Until you can research hugely powerful, whopping great ships with a lot of Logistical ability, just run away. Keep a picket line of ships so you can see them coming. If they're just sending a Transport, kill it (they never put them into protected Fleets). If they're sending anything else, send all your ships somewhere else. They might follow your ships, but you can usually lead them into someone else's territor
I'd like to change the email address I've used to register my Stardock games and to access this forum. I see I can do this here by going to My Account | Stardock Account | Logon Info. Does changing the address here change it in all Stardock locations (i.e. in Stardock Central, Stardock sales, Metaverse, etc)? Is there anything I need to watch out for in doing this?
I played for a couple of hours last night with no problems (outside of having my head handed to me ). I'm on Vista Ultimate (x86) with an NVidia graphics card.
The game's main screen reads "1.7 Dark Avatar beta 1". Yet the Stardock "Installed" field reads "1.70[b].003". Is this ("beta 1" vs "[b].003")correct? drrider: to change your Stardock server, start up Stardock and go to Tools | Settings | Internet. Under Available Servers, hit the "Refresh List" button. Then choose the other server.
IIRC, the only way I could access the deal was through that email's links. Just going to the Stardock store didn't give me that option. Since the email came out in late August and said "limited time," I'm assuming it's no longer valid. You could try writing Stardock and asking.
Looks really interesting. Espionage and Trading ought to produce some neat tricks from this. Game balance must have been tough to maintain.
IIRC, Delta-3 is just an internal name in the scenario. Once you ally with the Yor, you've got Delta-3 (at least I don't remember every running across anyone by that name).
Pardon my ignorance, but WHY does morale decrease with population? Shouldn't it decrease only if the population exceeds the carrying capacity of the planet? Are farms increasing the carrying capacity or are they merely allowing the increase in population and leaving the carrying capacity as it was? If the latter, perhaps there could be a new line of technology (Housing Tech?) that would step up the planet's carrying capacity and thereby negate a morale decrease from more population.
I hated that (Death of the Korx) mission. The sector you're looking for is just below the Korx homeworld (I think it's 2 sectors down). Don't bother doing any world development. Just try to get a constructor down as near to there as possible and build a starbase. Then move a ship (the fastest you can make/trade for) down to the sector and you win. The problem is those darn DL's will blow up the SB fairly quickly.
CariElf, Will do. A couple of things, though: 1. Does the SmartException tool on Stardock Central work on Vista? Should I install it? 2. I just checked Vista's Problem Report page and it says that crash was caused by the NVIDIA Graphics Driver. Here's some more information that it provides: "Product Windows Problem Video hardware error Date 8/26/2007 6:08 PM Status More information available Description A
I just downloaded Dark Avatar and I'm replaying the Dread Lords scenario from within it under Vista Ultimate with an nVidia 7600GT. I finished the first episode and it popped up the information on the next episode. GC2 DA then "stopped responding." I'm including my debug.err (I apologize for it's length -- I played for 4 to 5 hours without restarting, so it's pretty long): Debug Message: Version v1.61 Dark Avatar last updated on: Wed Jun 13 14:10:36 2007 Debug Message: Checking
Well, I just had to grin and bear it. It took 3-1/2 hours. But, everything downloaded and installed fine. Off to play.
