The Back and Forward mouse buttons on my Logitech MX 600 Cordless Laser Mouse don't work in Impulse. They work in both Firefox and IE.

I took a look at the Store tab in Impulse and tried sorting some items. For instance, under Games, if I sort the default "Tile" view by Popularity with no filter, I get a two column scrollable display. But, there's no indication of whether the Tiles are sorted vertically first or horizontally. Since the display is scrollable, I would have assumed the sort order was primarily horizontal, otherwise I'd have to scroll to the bottom, then the top, then the bottom again to go throug
I don't have any hard number to back this up, but it SEEMS like the main sliders behave differently. If I set them to 100% military and then set a planet's individual production emphasis to something else (perhaps Research), it seems like TA puts much less production into the emphasized area than DA did (it's been a while since I played, so I could definitely be wrong). In order to keep a reasonable amount of production in that planetary emphasis area, I've had to keep the main sliders more ba
I just let Impulse do the "micro-update" of Dark Avatar from ...100 to ...103. No problem. But, the lack of progress bars was a bit disconcerting. Immediately after pressing the update button, I started wondering if anything was happening. There was no feedback that the process was starting. Then, the status indicator changed to Archiving. But, this just sat there, unchanged, for several minutes (I was pretty sure it was working because the disk was churning).
Under both the DarkAvatar and the Twilight registry keys, I added new String Values. I gave each the name "Path" (mirroring what was under the GalCiv2 key) and then modified the data to show the actual path to those games (I just copied the string from the GalCiV2 Path in the registry, pasted it in, and appended the DarkAvatar or Twilight folder name). I then modified the EXE values in each registry key by removing that pre-pended directory name (leaving just DALaunch.exe or TALaunch.exe). In
Yep. I had followed Cari's suggestions for removing the beta before downloading the production version. Also, I have yet to download anything from Impulse. Everything was downloaded and installed from within SDC. When I changed the EXE values by removing the pre-pended directory, Impulse just changed DA to show as Available (just like Twilight). Putting the pre-pended directory back for each caused Impulse to again show DA as Update Available. But, TA is still just Available. <
I also should have posted that I'm running Vista Ultimate (x64) w/ SP1. BTW: I took a look at the registry and it's not matching what Hollow Man is seeing. First, under Vista x64, the registry path is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\Twilight (or whichever package you're looking at) Wow6432Node has to be tucked in there between SOFTWARE and STARDOCK. Also, the GalCiv2 PATH statement looks fine, but there are no PATH statements at
The trouble with those links is that they don't seem to mention Twilight of the Arnor (TA). I haven't played to much, yet. But, it sure seems like TA has totally changed all the old strategies that used to work. For instance, the main sliders (Military, Social, Research) seem to work very differently under TA than they did under DA (and DL). I haven't been able to find a TA strategy guide at all. Maybe there's a strategy guide for how to develop and test a strategy? :p
There's a thread on this in the generic GC2 forum, but I thought it should also be here in this forum. So, I'll just post with what I've seen. Early yesterday, I downloaded Twilight of the Arnor (TA) via Stardock Central (SDC). Prior to that, I had followed Cari's advice and uninstalled the beta and removed its vestiges. I used SDC to make sure everything else was up-to-date. When TA came out, I downloaded it without problem. In SDC, Dark Avatar (DA) shows up as version 1.80g.100
OK. Thanks. I'd suggest a note someplace to save everyone some time. Of course, it could very well be there and I didn't see it.
I'm confused. Earlier today, I downloaded TA from SDC. I had followed Cari's advice and uninstalled the beta first and removed its vestiges. I used SDC to make sure everything else was up-to-date. When TA came out, I downloaded it without problem. DA shows up as 1.80g.100 (dated today) with no later update available. TA shows as 1.90.018 (dated today) with no later update available. I then thought I'd try Impulse. Under Updates, the only thing it's showing is a Dark Avatar update
I just downloaded the Impulse beta. When I started it up, it asked me for my Stardock logon information (defaulting to my existing account). I logged in with that, no problem. But, going to the Community tab, it presented me with a Log In blurb in the upper right. I tried Logging In with my Stardock login (using my email address as Username). No good. It just returns me to the same screen with no error message. I tried it with my Stardock Username. Ditto. So, I tried the Sign Up option.
My speed readings were all over the place while I was downloading. But, it only took 7 minutes to get the whole thing (I'm in NW Florida). Since it didn't cost me anything (well, not directly, anyway), your new servers were definitely worth the cost. :) Whether or not this would induce me to buy more software online, I don't know. In Stardock's case, since you guys are the best company in the world, and I love the fact that you store my licenses and I can re-download easily via SDC,
This is of almost no importance, but I thought I'd report it. In the description section of the very first campaign under TA 1.9, there's the following: "... discover the catastrophe that has occurred over the past 2 years while her and her crew were gone." That first "her" should be "she": "... discover the catastrophe that has occurred over the past 2 years while she and her crew were
I was surprised that the download only took about 7 minutes. I expected smoke to be billowing out of SD's servers within minutes of the package going live. BTW: I, too, had to de-select the "show pre-release versions" box to get this to replace the RC on SDC.
Weird. I double-checked with Firefox, and it still failed. I then copied the link directly from the provided shortcut and pasted it in (all in Firefox). It worked fine. Now, clicking on the original link works, too. Gremlins.
clicking on the provided link: http://wiki.i-mod-productions.com/ just gives me the following in Firefox: "PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 02416E21" It works fine in IE, though. If I cut the resulting URL from IE's address bar: http://wiki.i-mod-productions.com/index.php?title=Main_Page and paste it into Firefox's, it works, fine.
Is there an alternative to SmartException? It worked only with workarounds under Vista x86. I'm now trying out Vista x64 and my x86 workarounds don't seem to work with it. I'd like to submit more detailed information than what debug.err contains, but I don't know of any way to provide it.
Draginol, You don't mention how you benchmarked the machines. Usually, the graphics side of laptops (both GPU and the actual display, itself) are miserable ([link="http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=2994"]Laptop LCD Roundup: Road Warriors Deserve Better[/link]). So, if you only tested processing power instead of the graphics ability, then you might want to do some more testing. More generally, a couple of years ago, I was thinking about not building my own deskt
Same here. TA 1.80e beta 2 under Vista Ultimate (x86). I'm playing as the Terrans (Medium/All Abundant/Tough). Can produce spies but cannot place them. I'll be sending some stuff to .
This is ridiculously trivial and, I believe, was also present in beta 1. But most of the black backgrounds in the Foreign Relations screen (F5) are washed out. I haven't noticed this with any of the other black objects/screens in the game. This is a Terran/Medium map/Everything abundant/Tough game in TA 1.8c beta 1a under Vista Ultimate (x86) using an NVIDIA 7600GT graphics card.
+ TWEAK: Typo in Arcean tech tree “PlanetaryFortification” -> “Planetary Fortification” This could have been a much more interesting mispelling...I'm disappointed. Think about it.
Might it have led to a higher Population Growth rate? Anyway, Beta 1a is 0.83[b].000 on SDC?
A couple more. But, I think these are carry-overs from previous versions. First, when you colonize a colony (Terran's anyway), the planetary name is editable. It's in white lettering on a light blue background and is very hard to read. A different color combination would be preferrable. Second, what's the method used in the planetary screen for selecting the next active tile? It seems to be random. I'd prefer something orderly (like left to right, top to bottom) so I can quickly a
I was just coming here to report the existence of Advanced Warp Bubble Projectors, Ultimate Warp Bubble Projectors, and Battle Command Centers at the very start of a Terran game. I saw your thread, but I can't find the thread you referenced (nothing named like it and Search doesn't find it). Anyway, all three items show up in the Shipyard under the Modules | Advanced tab right at the beginning of the game.
Another minor problem. As a Terran, I just finished researching Artificial Gravity (AG). The write-up on the completion screen mentions "obvious and subtle" benefits of it and then goes on to describe "obvious" benefits. But, there's no mention of any "subtle" benefits. Also, the last paragraph reads as follows (problem asterisked and capitalized): "The historical fleets of the Drengin Empire and the Arcean Empire in the pre-artificial gravity era are very obvious. Their hulls spin
