Medieval 2 disappointed me to no end. All the others were mediocre. The ONLY games I play right now are GalCiv2 and Company of Heroes, so both of them got my vote. On the overall PC game of the year, it was a hard call, but eventually I chose GalCiv 2. Sure, CoH rocks and all, but GalCiv 2 deserves much more credit, IMO.

I started yesterday a new game, medium galaxy, randomized alot of things, Mega events on, custom race (GREAT unique abilities, by the way...please do more!). The game went on great, but then I saw the Dread-Lords. I suggested them an economic and research treaty and they accepted. The next turn, I saw a movie. I thought to myself: "Cool! They made a movie in case you encounter the Dread Lords!" when I finally realised that I was staring at the defeat movie, and then staring at the great

Guys, guys, guys...Spore is not a game. It's an intuitive (hopefuly) program that helps creating games. It looks awesome, but trust me, it will get boring about a week after you'll start playing it, most likely even less for the most of you. It's really just The Sims on steroids. Do you still play The Sims? Then you'll play this, too. Are you like me and got bored from the game the minute you "maxed out" your sim's stats, career, love-life and family (and probably not even then)? That's exactly

Supreme Commander, for sure. Looks amazing. The best thing about it is the promised Macro-centered gameplay instead of Micro-constantly-messing-with-stuff-faster-than-the-other-guy gameplay. I'm really looking forward to playing an RTS that allows me to strategize and plane my next offensive or major defensive without having to baby-sit all of my units and bases. And if Total-Annihilation is any indication, we're in for a real treat. HOWEVER, if Dungeon Siege 1+2+millions of cash-ins+stupid expa

WOW. MoO2 had all that, plus excellent customization of ships and ships' special systems, different habitable planets for different races, cool research options, an uber-evil race you could go and conquer to finish a random game (I'd like to do that in GalCiv2), a special system that was like a game of "king of the hill" in the center of the galaxy with a cool guardian and a paradise of a planet for a prize, some nice cataclysmic special events, cool space monsters, and more. I keep forgetting h

Yes but that tactic only works if you win, in which case you now just lost billions of Soldiers for a now worthless planet OK, what about sending in a couple of troop transports containing only one trooper (or a very very small amount of them) and then just mass-drive the planet to oblivion without sacrificing too much? You wouldn't win the pla

UP really DOES need an overhaul, it means nearly nothing right now, and I would like the UP to have more..."teeth". Like voting for assisting a losing empire, declaring all-out war against a mutual aggressor, an ability to declare war against the UP and try to conquer it and be the master, and having the UP overall an entity of sorts, not just a bunch of lifeless "rules" that pops up every now and then. But I'm not sure about your ideas, man. This sounds like something out of a econom

Actually, For GCIII I suggest using the Reach For The Stars system. Each race had different tolerance for planets' atmosphere, heat, and terrain type. So for one race this junkyard of a planet would be nearly worthless, but for another, it'll be a paradise! Imagine the possibilities: should I bother to colonize this dump or should I just colonize the next planet that my race could flourish on? Should I colonize it just to deny it from other races and let them grovel and beg me to give to them in

It's a bit more aggressive, yeah. Like xpyre said, it tends to gang up on you from all sides like a pack of hungry piranhas. Luckily, I picked some really strong military bonuses with my lovable little Yor before going on my military crusade on my first game on challenging with the 1.2 patch. Needless to say, they were begging for mercy before I finished mopping them up one by one, dragging and screaming

joeld1212, I didn't mean "I'll rarely use", I meant that mostly everyone will rarely use. Bah, actually, who cares what you think anyway, shut up... It is really dumb to want tactical battles in GalCiv 2. There aren't many tactical options besides move and shoot! There aren't any special weapons, no special defenses, nothing. It'll basically be move, shoot, turn, move, shoot, turn. FUN!

Sir Arfs a Lot, I'm not against tactical battles. I'm against having Stardock spend time and resources on a feature I'll rarely use. But the people have spoken, I guess. I wouldn't MIND tactical battles, it's just that it's really over-rated. Especially since I see what happens in games like Total War where I either skip the battles altogether, or I play a few battles for half an hour and then quit. MOO2 was a pain in the ass in that aspect.

Bah, you're just showing off your age - "look at me, I'm more veteran than you, I'm as hardcore as I can be!" The first Civ was great, hooked me on the 4X genre for good. Too bad I didn't like number 3 and 4 at all... My favorite was Brian Reynold's Alpha Centauri. Yes, it was Brian R

Advanced UP! Stuff like banning empires from it, suggesting a proposal to declare total economic embargo against someone, voting to be the head of UP, thus winning the game, forcing someone through sheer influence to help you kill someone or defend against someone, forcing empires to change alignment, creating a joint crusade against an empire or all the evil/good/neutral empires in the galaxy, or every empire that is not part of the UP, thus making the UP actually worth something! I would like

Didn't like Space Empires IV. At all. A bit TOO much indie for my taste. Ten times more options than GalCiv2, 99% of them are useless, since the AI is nearly non-existent and either too aggressive or completely passive. The diplomacy is non-existent. All there is to the game is basically combat and lack of combat, with many useless features. You add tons of parts to your ships, and then you see a bunch of ugly triangles move around a square. Yay. Billions of research areas, all of them are excit

Sigh... No matter what you'll do, some idiots will always have something bad to say... Bingjack, you're a real jerk, and your opinion means absolutely nothing Shut up and go play something else instead of spewing your garbage. Stardock, as always, you ROCK. Keep up the great work!

You people have your games. Hell, you've got basically every strategy game of the last ten years. Stop trying to *%&$ with the one truly great SP strategy title to come along in ages. Agreed. I'm a SP gamer through and through, I have no need for MP, and if I had any, I'd already play different games than GalCiv2 in the first place. Even if yo

Multiplayer only? Meh...No. Way. Do you want multiplayer? Go play an RTS or a FPS and have a blast. But I love thinking and planning my turns and taking sometimes 5 minutes to play a single turn, which doesn't work with TBS games. I recently tried that with Civ4, it sucks and boring. Sometimes I wait for my friends to finish their turn already, and sometimes they were bored to their teeth by waiting for me. I had to read the ENTIRE civiliope

I agree. Some like fighting everything, and complain that the AI isn't aggressive enough. Well, I DON'T. There wasn't a single game where one of my neighbouring empires wasn't a huge bully that kept on harassing me, even on gigantic maps. I mean, let me enjoy my empire-building without having to constantly defend myself against a superior foe. So fine, I shouldn't receive my winnings on silver platter, I agree, and other empires really can pass me along and become greater than I am. B
