If a game's copy protection has the effect of making my ownership temporary, ie limited installs/activations and the like, then it is effectively a rental, not a purchase. In that case, I will pay exactly what I would pay to rent a game, and nothing more.
I have to, reluctantly, somewhat agree to that remark. psychoak, you can, and encouraged to, call or Email the tech support under these circumstances. This will set you back a bit, true, but I believe it's worth

You didn't seem to read or notice the rest of my post. Like I said, the game will be eventually cracked, so this entire limit will be rendered sterile in a time period of 2 years. It is basically just to limit you from installing a fresh game on too many computers at once, that's all. Besides, honestly, did you ever encounter the issue which prevented you from installing the game since you already installed it too many times before? Don't give me that, I'm sure you didn't. This is just

And just to precede the flames: no, I don't think that once you pay your measly $50 US you are allowed to do whatever you want with your purchased game, no matter how annoying this may feel.
Gormoth1: Yes while not needing the CD is good, the limited installs is not. Especially when its limited to 3 and there is no way of "revoking" a used install (which could be as easily achieved as by performing a verification check).
With all due respect, once you buy a single copy of the game, under any circumstances, you should NOT be allowed to install it on more than one or two computers. And while I might understand your concern regarding mis-indentification errors,

Oh, come on, guys, stop complaining already. DRM sucks, true, but this new method will actually allow you to play without your CD! This is actually a step in the right direction for DRMs. This means that I won't have to wait and search for a crack in order to install the game on my gaming laptop (I never use CD-required games on the go), and the guys who created the game will still protect their intellectual property, at least on launch day. Mass-Effect is an RPG, which means t
Do you guys know its 2008?
Do you understand that they are making fun of themselves? I mean, really, what other major Developer\Reseller team can make fun of themselves and get away with that? Their PR people would have all of them executed in their cubicles by now. Sheesh, you guys are so great. Not just because you are actually doing something different with your game, but your entire attitude. If something doesn't work, you just say it outright and aim to fix

I really don't feel like purchasing or playing a political game (I LOATHE politics!), but I once made a promise to myself that I will purchase each official game that Stardock will ever publish to show my support. So I'll be purchasing it on the beginning of next month, then. Who knows? Maybe I'll even enjoy it a bit. Anyway, love you guys! Keep up the great work!

I'm not going to badmouth anything. I take my words back, I made a mistake. Me=An idiot. Boy, do I feel stupid. Since the devs have given a great discount on buying the new game for purchasers of the old Lost Empire, I've done so and purchased it as well. I will give my honest impressions later on. Edit: I cannot edit my first post. I hope there is a way for the devs to either remove this thread altogether or allow me to reedit it :(
And, to finish all, the game itself isn't on the shelves yet, but you came here and shat on it BEFORE it's release. Are you privy to some access we aren't?
Oh for crying out loud: http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?page=product&what=view&sku=DD-LE Put your money where your mouth is and go buy the damn thing before you degrade this thread even further to a flame war about piracy. I buy my games. Now, if you don't agree, go right ahead. You can argue

Furthermore, pndrev, you have nothing to take offense about, as this got nothing to do with you at all. This is my personal preference, and I really am setting the limit here on what is considered inappropriate and what is not. Most people will be disgruntled if they would pay full admittance price for a cinema ticket and then find out they are in an unprofessionally made student film, no matter how good it actually is. And they'd be right, too. And I agree, I should have waite

"Try to make games, and then put ALL the Indie scene in dime a dozen category" : This is a very irrelevant remark - I don't try to make games, since I have no skill in it but I do expect people who claim about making games to actually make them professional or at least warn me if they're not. I'm very glad you like Space Empires. My friend liked it very much as well. But I really did not. In fact I really am not in the habit of purchasing Indie games, nor do I like them at all, and I exp

Cikomyr, an Indie game does NOT mean simply low-end graphics. An Indie game means that there are multiple bugs, spelling mistakes, horrific UI which seems like it was pre-made with a fold and someone amateurishly glued text on it and more, while the maps and ships look like they are made from placard. This is not a retail game where only a few bugs here and there are apparent. I cannot exactly describe to you what Indie game actually means, I guess you will have to see for yourselves. Imagine Sp

I give you this as public service for all GalCiv2 fans: Gamespot has written a very nice preview of a 4X game called Lost Empire: Immortals, which can be read in the following link: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/lostempireimmortals/news.html?page=1&sid=6185088&tag=result;title;0 I have purchased and downloaded it directly from the company's site a
And I very much hope you don't. Keep turn based games turn based and leave the real time stuff to the real time games, please. That's not to knock either genre, mind you.
I disagree, Sins is not your traditional Warcraft. At the very least I think they should consider incorporating the beautiful and sleek engine to the battles themselves.

This is an awesome list, I completely agree with each and every resolution on this list. Too bad no one is following the examples you guys set regarding DRM (Bioshock, I'm looking at YOU!). You guys are my idols. I hereby swear I have purchased and will continue to purchase every game/expansion you will ever make in the future just to show my support. As Gamespy have quoted a fan regarding Stardock - I love you and I'm happy to give you my money. Everyone can call me a fool for all I ca

Guys, you already got my money on the beta for DA and TA and I can't thank you enough about it. The game is simply the best purchase I've ever made, plus: I feel all warm and tingly inside whenever I purchase one of your games. I simply love the things you do and the way you're doing it, as it is obvious you do it with a passion to games. And for all the "This is just an ad" fellows - Browse to any EA game website. Browse to any Blizzard one. How about a Bethesda one? As a matter of fac

Trying the new Twilight of the Arnor beta (which is mighty impressive, to say the least), I came by a small idea, which might have been suggested before (I apologize in advance if it did): If anyone played Supreme Commander, the game's interface allowed you to zoom all the way out and then zoom all the way in to the location of your mouse cursor, which allowed the player great maneuverability on the map. It's just a minor gripe of mine, but it would be pretty cool if you could do that o

You hardly need my approval, but of course you get my vote. Take your time, espceially sinec the time taken will be spent directly on us - the fans. Keep up the great work, Stardock! And...guys...do try to remember to take a breather once in a while, will you? P.S: DrSpock, you are indeed entitled to your opinion, however my opinion is that you are simply ungrateful to Stardock efforts and that's just uncool.

Sevenhertz, I know for a fact that most of this nonsense is completely exaggerated. You can upgrade anything you want, but as long as you keep your original motherboard, you should be fine. Achillus, if you only had Hyundais or Mitsubishis to choose from, your point might by valid. Better yet, if Hyundais had as much effect on the world economy, and as much publicity as Microsoft, you would be right, too. I'm not a fan of Microsoft, but not a hater as well. I do know, however, why this

Why everybody swears and get so mad all of a sudden? What's wrong with you? Most of you never really tried the new OS, and are basing this on bigotry against the corporation (I'm a REBEL!), or twitched reviews. I never tried the OS, so I really have no opinion whatsoever. I'm sure it has alot of merits, and as of right now, alot of downfalls, like every other darn OS release in recent history. You people have a really short memory. Most of you, or your friends said the same d

I just returned from a cool game in the DA beta version, and I can honestly say: you deserve every credit you got, and get. You did the most amazing work with the diplomacy in this game, something I NEVER saw in a game, and your creativity is truly boundless. You're beyond regular developers. I love you, guys!
