Thank you! I enjoy a large map at times, but often it gets so chaotic that it's difficult to play because there is no clear 'front'. I was looking in this case to have 6 sectors on the left be "Good" 6 sectors on the right be "Evil" and the center be this hodge podge no mans land full of either very exotic planets that could be a jewel if you terraform them with one HUGE prize in the center. What I did was put the dark yor on the planet and started again.

when I reached the highest level of espionage it said I had "Spent trillions to get there". Is that misleading? I used the agents who were sitting around in my pool anyway and as far as I know there is no support cost for agents or doing system wide surveillance?
now that makes sense Marvin!!! If I have several clusters that would also work. I guess I will have to play with the queues some to see how I can make constructors not go towards the military point. now if someone can tell me how I can make a map to include dreadlords without the dreadlords overwhelming us in the early-mid game that would be suh-weet.
All I did was create a "normal" rally point. There are also Fleet and Colony I think as the other options. The Fleet rally point is interesting because ships will automatically join up together when they get there. I guess perhaps I may have used the fleet rally point which triggered the autolaunching. What I generally do is create one rally point for invasions, then start sending ships there and as I take out that world, I create another. I also create 'harrassment' fl
Yes, How do I turn off autolaunch entirely? I would like to use rally points and assign them,
So I created a simple Medium Sized Map. On one side is the Drenghin, Korath and my Krellan clan (which is similar). On the other side is the Altair, Krynn and Terrans. Each group has a couple decent starting planets and resources. Very balanced, although I have upped the planet quality. In the center of the map are a few clusters of terraformable planets. A few each of Heavy G, Radioactive etc and two size 10 planets on either side
I just want to turn off the autolaunch to rally point functionality.
I Can't find this anywhere, so my apologies though if it's been brought up. Problem: In my game, I create a rally point. Suddenly my planets start automatically launching my ships towards it. Not really a problem except I don't want ALL my ships to go immediately. I want them to form a fleet THEN travel to the rally point. I've tried playing around with the slider about leaving a certain number of defenders on planets. It doesn't seem to m
Gal Civ is definitely the spiritual successor to MOO. There is many things to be learned from its design. I tried to think of an analogy that where some one had taken the chess peices on a board and made up their own game to it. They have some really shiney peices and they've added dice and flipping a coin. You come walking along and say "Hey, thats cool and all, but what if I show you how chess is played?" "Waaaaa" they reply "I've never played chess, but I am glad
What about Twilight of Arnor? I'd love to see Masters of Orion style where you know how much of each population is still on a planet. We even got to manufacture androids towards the end.
I came here this morning to ask this question! I was really enjoying the Thalans. I have placed ships on each starbase in Guard mode and have been searching for the technology that I must have missed some place that let me put a single weapon on the ship. It makes no sense at all to have "Defenses" if you have no weapons because you will still die in one shot. I have cut this huge swath over about 50% of a large galaxy as the Thalans and stunted my explosive growth because
-Fix some of the earlier maps to include asteroids. -When I want to create a custom race, let me pick some disadvantages to get some advantages. (+/-) -Make the game work under VISTA some how (stability). -Custom Event/Map Maker. I remember reading there would be one, but I do not see it in the interface to start off with. - Let me automatically get rid of old ship designs from previous games. I am tired of seeing "Mother IV" in my designs. I want to create ne
Can I/should upload a saved game? I am running VISTA and trying to play as a custom race. Same turn everytime had a CTD. never happens any other time. Too bad too, because I was doing so good as a Korath Trader race. They bring a whole new meaning to "Buyer Beware!"
so which version should I be using?
Wait, you mean in reality there is no way to repair detonating the core of the planet? Shoot. BRB.
Each time I relaunch Stardock I get a ping pong effect. 108q.100 updates to 108e.98 and then I can reupdate to the q version.
Is it possible this limit is intended to simulate inflation caused by having a substantial treasury?
Yes, taken one step further, its just a simple YES/No option that determines if the players actions were better than what the AI would have picked. If so, do them and gradually lowers the percent chance that it follows the AIs path. This is because I sometimes kick the heck out of the AI by doing something really sneaky or focusing on trade and getting such an enormous economy going and Iwould like to watch and see if the AI does the same thing what would happen if I face myself. <b
An interesting scenario "To touch the sky". The player can not build colony ships. You get a size 30 planetoid and you travel 1 square across the map per turn. You must reach the opposite side of the map. Your people are an ancient race that is fleeing some galactic tyranny. You can build other ships though and conquer other planets that way if you want or just use the ships to defend your planetoid.
yes. Also for folks like me who like to "Role play" their race, deciding things more because as a Galactic Arbiter of Peace I would CHOOSE peace instead of ruthlessly crushing my enemies, the roleplay aspect is really a nice to have.
This is a much simpler suggestion than what you are making it out to be. This is essentially a "What if?" machine that lets you go back and play against your own self.
Okay, to add to this idea, what about this; Each Race can have slight variations on this, and perhaps some options are unlocked through research. You have "Policies" Associated with the following; Military Research Social A player can pick only ONE policy. This represents your particular strategy. The default is sort of a vanilla "normal" policy, or balance that the game represents right now. However, could you imagine something like these two for
If you have ever played the great shareware game "Democracy", the sequal Democracy 2 was recently released. It is really amazing. Some of the things I particularly like in it are that to get re-elected you have to select two items from a list for your "Manifesto" that you must obtain by the next election. There is even a "Voter Cynicism" that increases if you cut taxes JUST before an election, some of the cynics won't vote for you. I could see a simplified version of the "Mani
Yes, i think the game could just give you a single bonus at random from their civ bonuses if you control their capital and I would be happy. Like to think of having the Klingons and Ferrengi contributing to the federation would boost their soldiering and mercantile at atleast somewhat.
You know what else would be cool, since you are on the topic of carriers (and then you can get into assault fighters, bombers, etc), is if some one just made Masters of Orion II playable on Vista with a map editor and a few tiny + tweaks. That would rock too.
