1. Make the costs for improvements & research visible. "X Weeks", while accurate and useful isn't descriptive enough. 2. Make the Military/Social/Research 10-point tokens look different than the 1-point ones. Perhaps we could have multiple icons stacked on top of each other like this... ())) 3. Improve the tooltips on the colony screen by adding carriage returns between items. Paragraphs are BAD! 4. Put in an option to disable the Stardock splash screen. Save me

Running 1.X.10... 1. Loading the game up with a desktop of 1280x1024 yields a 1024x768 sized black window. 2. Hitting ESC in the tutorial window causes the game to hang. - Nobody
Even easier way to crash the game: Hit ESC on the Tutorial Screen. - Nobody
My DX version is listed in the .err file. I'm running with the extra Catalyst garbage, and I'm also using a freeware program called "RefreshLock" that keeps my refresh rate set the proper amount. Anyways... The game isn't unplayable... It's just that if I have my res set at 1280x1024, I can't start the game up from a fresh install. I have to switch to a lower desktop res. If I switch to a 1280x1024 res in-game, I don't
Here's an odd bug. If I try to load up GC2 with my desktop set to 1280x1024 (32-bit color), the game doesn't start. Instead, I get a black window. It looks like the game is trying to open up full-screen, but at a lower resolution. If I load up GC2 at 1024x768 (32-bit color), I'm fine. I have the latest Catalyst drivers for my Radeon 9800 Pro, and I'm running the most current build of GC2. Here's my ERR file..
I pre-ordered my game from SD way back in March when pre-orders first came out. I thought I was pre-ordering the full game, but when I looked at my confirmation e-mail, it didn't list any shipping/handling. It was the only pre-order option available at the time... Did I miss out on getting the physical collector's edition, or a physical edition at all? - Nobody
Andrew, From what I've been told, the problem is that SDC isn't auto-activating. They're going to try another fix tomorrow. Hopefully this one won't take Galciv2 off the games menu. - Nobody - Your woebegone partner in beta-less pain
As told to me by Kris Kwilas in a letter about my now-nonworking SN... "Ugh. It's us, not you. And that serial won't be used for the activation, which should do it seamlessly through SDC when the time comes. Look for another update tomorrow." I'll give you SD guys/gals credit: you're no slouchers! Thanks, Nobody
More info... My Galciv2 SN is now totally screwed up. SDC won't even tell me its good any more. I've sent a letter to support asking them about this. Meanwhile... The debug.err file that says... Debug Message: Version v 0.2 (Beta 2 Build 1) last updated on: Tue Jun 14 14:16:03 2005 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. ... is being generated BEFORE I enter anything into ACTIVATE. Heck, ACTIVATE isn't even trying
It's the newest SDC revision, apparently... If you uninstall and switch to the version of SDC at SDCentral , you'll be able to download Beta 2.005. - Nobody
The reason why you don't see Galciv2 is because the new version of SDC is screwed up somehow. Version 2.05 shows Beta 2.005, but SDC V2.09 doesn't... Weird. - Nobody
Gaaah! I'm now in the same boat as the person above me... I tried running Beta 2.005 and SDC 2.09.339b90 but activate.exe wouldn't activate the game. I decided to do a fresh install. I uninstalled Galciv2, and now it no longer appears on my list of games. I tried uninstalling SDC, rebooting, installing SDC v2.05, updating to SDC 2.09.339b90, setting the server to California, and turning on the pre-releases. No luck. Oddly enough, I can see
My way of playing, eh? Fair enough... but it worked and let me beat the game. The point is, being forced to move individual units is more tactical and provides a better feel for strategy than group-mass movements. I prefer TBS games for this very reason. - Nobody
IBNobody, it sounds like it managed to activate on our end, but the return signal must be blocked by your firewall. Can you make exceptions in your firewall settings? I'm using Zone Alarm, by the way. I don't have a hardware firewall. If I need to open up more ports other than what's auto-opened by ZA for ac
I've reached the "Maximum Activation Requests from this IP reached" limit as well... Grr... I know about the "only allow # registrations" clause, but you're telling me I'm getting dinged for each time the program fails? Cari, can you please reset this? Here's something else that's screwy... I now have not one... not two... not three... but FOUR Galciv II serial numbers. I wanted to verify that my e-mail address was co
Activate.exe isn't letting me activate, either. I do NOT have a TG.net subscription. I DO have a pre-ordered serial number, though. Reinstalling didn't work. - Nobody [EDIT] Here's what my debug.err is giving me... Debug Message: Version v 0.2 (Beta 2 Build 1) last updated on: Tue Jun 14 14:16:03 2005 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. It can't find a TGN SN because... I don't have one?
UFO:A illustrates exactly why I prefer TBS to RTS. Instead of moving individual units into position one by one, you moved a single "gun-mass" of troops that would kill anything with combined firepower. You couldn't really tell who did most of the killing. You didn't even care. With TBS games, you move each unit separately. You tell the unit to fire. You get to see each unit kill his target. It makes them seem powerful. While you can still achieve t
I'll pass on SEV. The problem I had with SE (SEIV), in general, is that it was a play-by-e-mail game. In single player mode, this means *long* end-of-turn waits. Did they correct this in SEV by having the AI running in the background? I don't know. We'll have to see. - N
You may just want to consider upgrading. The cost for a decent P4 CPU & motherboard (~$200), 512 MB RAM (~$30), and a case ($40) is less than $300. Add in a decent $100 video card, and you're set. You could also go with an AMD CPU and save some money there. If you do some research, you'll even beat my numbers. A good place to start looking is PriceWatch . - Nobody
uld never reach this level. Brad's AI is too smart and will wipe the floor with button pushers. - Nobody

I'm still here........ WoW is consuming my time, though. It's baaaaaaad! - Nobody
I assume that the missile ammo is stored internally inside the ship and not in the side pods, correct? ::grins::
