Awesome job on this guide! I am a seasoned played and I still found lots of it helpful.

I really enjoyed reading that! I am interested to hear what had happened. From what he wrote in the ending, I think I have an idea. This said, he just made me want to play a gigantic galaxy I think I only played one of those once and it was before DA expansion.
I wonder why nvidia still has a beta driver?? I mean ati has fully released vista drivers for how long now? I thought nvidia was their competition. Having always been a fan of nvidia, I think all of this mess has turned me to ati. So my next cards which I am setting up with sli will be ati based. This time, I am truely disappointed in nvidia, I really am. Especially since its been months and still only a beta driver that still has issues. Then, all the while the ati guys are laughing since they
Its kind of silly to see a tile which is in the ocean listed as prairie as in my screenshot above. This used to work fine and at first. I though it could have something to do with vista or maybe my video card or screen res but don't seem so.
I am not sure what is causing this... If you look in the screenshot you will see it appears the planet surface map is off by several spaces. It looks like about 6 in that picture. This appears to be a bug, anyone else experience this?
Well I got this game Wednesday, and for the past two days I've tried, failed and quit repeatedly every night for probably 6-8 hours straight. Not sure what my problem is. I always play as the Altarians, and set them up to have +60 Economy, +45 Research, +25 Luck, +25 Creativity, leave their Morale bonus alone, and choose Technologists as their political party. Sometimes I'll even get set up well, but I always fall into this stupid pattern where I claim about... 5 or 6
Oh here is just some additional info, an article posted today on msn health regarding video games can actually be good for you... Gaming's Health Benefits -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Far from a frivolous waste of time, games, some studies say, can be good for us. I agree with what Brad mentions and SD's way of thinking regarding piracy. One thing I can add, me and a friend have thought about a good way to prevent at least some piracy. As very long time gamers, we both feel if a game comes with a little extras, a would be pirate is more likely to buy it. Extras such as a tech tree, nice manual, unit card, things like that. Of course this would increase cost in producing a game but I feel it will increase sales and reduce piracy, so in the end, a company i
Man has anyone seen this one yet? I just bought it yesterday and I have never seen water effects this realistic in a video game in my life! An outstanding game.
What until you try the expansions for the Sims 2!! They are awesome, I own all the expansions and stuff packs. Yes it is 100x better then the original.
Yes supreme commander is an excellent game I love it. It sets an example of how effective combined arms warfare is with the nice selection of land, air and sea units.
First of all, I'd like to say that the anti-social behavior this article is talking about has nothing to do with violence. Violence and video games is a completely different argument. Video games allow a person to feel as if they have accomplished something without doing anything. So you beat every Final Fantasy. Nobody really cares, except other people that have played Final Fantasy, and even they don't care that much. A huge problem is that a lot of
My best but not in any order... CIV4 (of course) GalCiv2 (especially with DA expansion) Rise of Nations Empire Earth I & II Battlefield 1942 (and its expansions) Flight Simulator X (of course if you can call it a game) Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 The Sims 2 (and all its awesome expansions) Hearts of Iron 2 Making History The Calm & The Storm (maybe better then Hearts of Iron series and just released but already makes this list) These are a
So, it's not Vista, it's not GalCiv2, it's our beloved, trustworthy nVidia AKA "The Best Vista Experience - In and Out of the Box". I sure hope, sure truely hope you are right. I my opinion, the best thing it can be is nvidia. The reason I say that, if it is nvidia, it will get fixed. Something tells me alot of this could be incompatibily with vista and if it is, we are all screwed. Not just with GalCiv2, but several and I mean several other games as I a
This is a good thread regarding vista. So far, I never tried GC2 DA yet, but I tried Pacific Storm and it don't launch in vista. Then I tried BF1942, although it loads and gets in, it has a strange graphic problem that doesn't let me change any options. From what I have read here, and elsewhere, in addition to my experience with BF1942, I really think its nvidia's drivers. Alot of people are blaming vista, I don't know, if it was vista then maybe alot more games would not work. I am running vist
Omg, GalCiv2 and now the Sims2?? Noooo! These are 2 of my main games and I really need these to work. I have vista 64-bit and I wonder if that will help or make things worse. Hopefully SD and Maxis will get the games updated.
Please, please tell me that GC2 and DA will work ok with Vista? I am building a new mega PC tomorrow evening (cost me a ton of money!) and it will use Vista 64-bit home premium. I am already starting to get concerned about vista and some of my games and I have not even installed it yet. I just hope my games all work ok I really do, especially DA.
I bought it last week & can't wait to download it and check it out! Definitely! One of the best expansion packs I have ever purchased for any game.
You can read the guide here: GC2 & Dark Avatar Guide It's very important for you to know the purpose of this guide. 1. It is not to cover every aspect of the game. It's meant to cover some of the things that are easy to forget, confusing, or difficult. 2. I'm not a web designer. 3. I still have a few pages to add. Custom Races, and a compilation of how the game cam sta
Thanks, and yes I found an excellent thread discussing espionage.
This thread answers all of the questions I had about espionage in DA. That said, I really like how it all works and think its a large improvement then the abstract way it was handled in GC2. For example, if I am wanting to drop the pop on a particular planet I could target the farms with spy agents without even declaring war. Then I can plant a spy and also see exactly what structures are built on a part
I am a little confused about the new espionage. I know that investing funds into it, that you get agents but what about information? In original GalCiv2 you got more information on a race the more funds you put into it. Does it still do this? Reason I ask is I was cranking about 50bc a turn into espionage and had almost 10 agents available but still I had low information on the race and it said to invest more bc into espionage to get more information. Maybe I needed to invest more? Oh I also nee
I finished a dark avatar game with terrans. Small galaxy, normal level, 2 major races and random amount of minors. When I started, little did I know my only planet the whole game would be just my homeworld. Sounds boring? Nope, it was fun and alot of it might I say. I done all of this with diplomacy. Diplomacy was key to victory. In the first part of the game I encountered the Drath Legion and then the Korath Clan. Drath was neutral and korath was evil. I quickly seen after a while korath was do
I agree, one heck of an expansion! Unlike other expansions for other games that add little content and leave you feeling ripped off, Dark Avatar is loaded with stuff and 100% worth it. This said, I am completely satisfied with it so add another thanks Maybe SD has set yet another example, this time what an expansion pack really should be. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" bord
