Hello all! I'm in the middle of creating the Ur-Quan (from Star Control 2) for Dark Avatar. I've gotten all the music, pictures, and animations packaged together, but now the only problem is that they don't have that distinct Ur-Quan personality. Instead of saying stuff like "Boy, you sure suck at war!" They should instead say things like "Submit or Die!" Is there any way I can create a unique set of dialogue for these guys? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I start up a new game with a custom race. Large emphasis on morale, military, research, and economics.(why dont custom races get a special ability anyway?) Within the first few turns I meet up with the other races and find they are WAY more advanced than me. More techs, better morale, better economy and research. I check my rating and I'm 10th on almost every scale. What the hell am I doing wrong here? I usually start out by turning my military spending all the way up, same t
I have to concur with Cikomyr's idea. I used to fare horribly on the graph as well, but then in one game I decided to create a few more economy buildings than in my last games and then I did much better.
1) When two major civilizations go to war there should be a pop up that tells the player that this has occured. Right now the player is only informed when civilizations declare peace. It'd make it a lot easier if the player didn't have to check the foreign relations screen every turn to see if war has broken out. 2) Can we be allowed to trade ships with the minor civilizations, please!? There have been a few times where a minor has gotten a hand on a galactic resource but since I
Same here. In fact there's been a few times where peace was declared and I hadn't even known that there was a war to begin with!
Now what the heck would espionage have to do with war. The declaration of war is hardly a covert act.
Would it be possible in a future upgrade for players to be informed when alien civilizations go to war? It's always feels a little off when I check the foreign relations screen after a while and see that a handful of wars have broken out without anyone telling me about it!
I've noticed that the races in the game have hard-coded abilities that can't be unpicked, like the Thalan's miniturization bonus and logistics bonus. The custom races however don't get any additional comparable abilities, which makes me ask what is the point of being allowed to make a custom race if they are inherently inferior compaired to the default races? edit: Err, disregard this post. I just realized that I was wrong, and stupid. Custom races get the logistics bonus too. Weird that
How do I know what the aligment is of the other races, and is there a way to change it?
nm, problem fixed
Are you kidding Mavx21? Can somebody confirm this? One of the first races I was going to create was my beloved Ur-Quan Kzer-za. Are you telling me these mighty warriors will be inferior to all the other races??
umm.... I don't.. You're not really making.. um.. I.. What? Too complicated to explain. Better if you simply download The Ur-Quan Masters and help yourself to the yummiest chunk of gaming goodness ever made. That goes for the rest of you! http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ Hmm, now that I think of it, playing
Thanks for the info Brad! I also have a question if you don't mind. Is the attacking advantage as powerful as it was in Galciv 1? In that game ships almost always had a much higher attack value than they did defense. It was pretty easy to maximize that advantage by simply pulling back your ships out of distance from the enemy ships, then letting them advance forward the next turn. This allowed you to attack them and thus gain the advantage. I was once able to defeat a Drengin armanda that
Often in Galciv my friendly tech-trading minor races were always having war declared on them by the bullies of the galaxy, ie every major race in the game. I often tried to bribe the people who attacked them but this usually became costly in the long run. What I really wanted was something similar to putting up a sign on the minor race's planet that said "Hey! This guy's with me, leave him alone!" Basically it would be like a one way alliance, with the protected race not having t
Yeah, but if you consider the entire planets people to be their army, then when you destroy the army you're effectively wiping out their entire population. Unless you meant that we were liberating them from the evil tyranny of the mortal coil.
or "Good civilizations shalt not commit acts of heinous genocide" I was just wondering if the invasion system in Galciv2 will be like in Galciv1, where you shuffle your populace onto a transport and then send it to an enemy system. Once it gets there the two populations duke it out until only one remains, which essentially means you commit genocide every time you invade. Not a very good thing if you're aiming to be a good civilization. <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/gc2/smile
Can anyone tell me if Galciv 2 is still set up so that every other civilization knows the livable planets but you don't? I've always sort of disliked this game mechanic because it pretty much made it so that the other civilizations had a huge advantage if you selected a large galaxy or few habitable planets. I've always thought that having a bunch of planets spread far away from eachother all over the galaxy would make for an interesting strategic scenario, but whenever I tried this in Galciv
