No, the copy of tiles are shortcuts which open special features. e.g. the second tile of app webradio starts a favorite radio channel or all other clock+ tiles open the config menu.

OK, but can you do something for this kind of problem. There are many duplicates with no function. You push the app but nothing happens. Sometimes you have to push three or many time to get the correct app.

Because I saw the empty rows today again. I've cleaned the cache of IE browser (modern and desktop) and I've cleaned the jump list in the windows taskbar (second tab). So I can not say what is the reason that it works now, after a while. (Before I've updated Start8 ( two days ago) I've also cleaned the registry entries of Start8.)

Start8 v1.03 - New problem with empty rows. Description: AppexNews Location:
C:\Users\Thomas\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts\Microsoft.BingNews_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppexNews.lnk
Update: At the moment, it is OK! Now it is in alphabetical order also. [

It seems that the new feature "Fake tile shortcuts added to the Modern UI start menu will not show in the Start8 menu." doesn't work correctly. There exist some duplicates of tiles in the folder "Modern-UI application" of the Start8 menu. Start8 should only show the tile of a main program like Windows 8 in the charm bar (Search). e.g. Asparion Clock+ ( http://www.asparion.de/en/clockplus.html ) each new clock causes a new tile -&gt

In my opinion the Desktop option "Hide Modern UI applications from the Windows 7 style menu" should be in the configure menu "What would you like to see on the menu?". Because there is the option "Show recently used applications" and "Highlight newly installed applications" and logically "Hide Modern UI applications" First I thought what do you mean with the

Hello Neil, for the context menu "Start8..." could be enough, I think.
Start8... = Start8... Run... = Ausführen... Shutdown... = Herunterfahren...
I can not say anything about other software developers and I do not know if there is a fault in the installer. You wrote you can not look to a third location. Perhaps you can manage it, that Start8 follows a shortcut. In the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Startmenü Alle exist the folder "Programs" and the shortcut "Programme" this shortcut open or is linked to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Startmenü All</s

OpenVPN and Nightly shows the same behavior like Start8. The shortcuts are in the exact same start menu folder. Their shortcuts do not appear in the Windows 8 Start menu. It doesn't help Start8 users to know that some english program installers use an in correct path. So Start8 should catch also the shortcuts in the old path too. They all use the same path like in Windows 7 "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\" (Shortcuts for "All users".)

I've seen the change-log for Start8 v1.03. Island Dog has wrote:"All programs now looks at the \Start menu folder rather than \Start menu\Programs to ensure applications which install outside the normal folder tree are not missed." That is a good approach because some programs puts their shortcuts in the place \start menu. For example Winzip and the tool oblytile. So the three folders where Start8 should now looks are: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\<b

The new Start8 version 1.03 has the same problem. Hello Neil, It seems that the used start menu folder is conditional from the country. Probably the best solution would be if Start8 looks for shortcuts in follow 3 start menu folders! Some programs shortcuts are installed (for all users) in this folder (typical for English language installations): C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start M

Update: Start8 1.03 German language The German translation in the context menu of "Configure Start8..." with "Konfigurieren Start8..." is a bad translation, is not typical for Windows. Please change "Konfigurieren Start8..." to "Start8 konfigurieren..."
Left side: Windows 8 Menu = Windows 8 Menü &nbs

Hi Neil, I'm using Start8 1.02 with a German Windows 8 System. There is a different between the translation in the Start8 menu and the configure menu. For the missing translation in the Start8 menu look here please: https://forums.stardock.com/432601/page/1/#3270974 and here are the missing translations in the configure menu: "Connect to" = "Verbinden mit" "Default Programs

Decor8 has a nice config menu it looks different to Start8 and Fences which are Desktop applications, it really looks like a "Modern UI application". So it should have a tile instead a shortcut. For a unified view your other Windows 8 tools should have tiles for the Start Screen if possible and shortcuts for the Desktop.

Neither Decor8 nor Fences2, Tiles or Start8 shortcuts appears on the Windows 8 Modern UI start menu. I found them only in these folders: C:\ProgramData\Start Menu\Programs\Stardock\ C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Stardock\

Information about the missing shortcut: It is a problem of the installer, like Neil Banfield mentioned in this post https://forums.stardock.com/436564/page/1/#3275523 . For the moment follow steps can help: - Use "Windows key + R" (Open the menu "Run") - Copy and paste the follow path: C:\ProgramData\Start Menu\Programs\Stard

(I do not think that it is a installers problem.) Other programs have also installed their shortcuts in these folders: C:\ProgramData\Start Menu\Programs\... ‪C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\... The time stamp and the content of the shortcuts and program folders are identical in both folders. e.g. for another program: ‪C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Utilities\Beyond Compare 3\ Otherwise, pro

I'm using Start8 for a month. Meanwhile I've tested some other stardock tools like fences or tiles. All these programs are integrated in the system or I found a shortcut on my desktop. Yesterday I've tested Decor8. After closing the config menu I didn't found a shortcut to this program. I realize now that Start8 has no shortcuts from Stardock. The fast search also found no stardock program files except the shortcuts from desktop. Here you can found some more in

The Start8 menu finds only some files out of the ie cache. e.g. decor8 setup.exe. Under all programs is no stardock folder. The Start8 menu shows only shortcuts from the user startmenu. It seems that there is a problem with start8. Context menu from the entry "All Programs": Right mouse click on "All Programs"| "Open" shows a window with follow path: C:\Users\Thomas\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start
