If you send in a save game that can reproduce this problem, I'll take a look at it and see if I can get it fixed for 1.3. Send it to [email protected] with a description of the bug and how to reproduce it.

Are you playing the 1.3 beta? There is a memory bug in the first 1.3 beta that will be fixed in the next update.
What kind of video card do you have? Post the info from your debug.err.
Are you using 1.2? If so, we appear to have fixed it with 1.3. You might want to wait before updating to that until at least the next beta though, because we have an error in the save game code that is causing a memory bug. You could try using the mousewheel if you have one.
It's a known bug with 1.3 beta 1, where it will crash if you start or load a game from within a game. I've fixed it here, and it will be fixed in the next update.
Please install smartexception from https://www.stardock.com/products/smartexception and send the report it generates to [email protected] It looks as if it could be crashing when trying to create a 3D object, but the SmartException report should verify it.
There is a bug in 1.3 beta 1 which causes the game to use to ask for too much memory when the game is loading, and then this additional memory is saved into the save game, so the more it is saved and reloaded, the bigger the file gets, until Windows refuses to give any more memory. I have fixed it here and the fix will be in the next update.
Please install SmartException from https://www.stardock.com/products/smartexception and run it. Send the crash logs it generates to [email protected] A known crash issue is loading a game from within a game. This is fixed here and it will be in the next update. Also, if you are getting an Out of Memory crash, that is also fixed here for the next patch.
Juason, you can change the abilities that do correspond to the options. The other ones are just free.
Well, there are definite problems if the invading transport has 0 troops. That sounds like a new bug. Your resolution would not affect this. I'll check to see what might cause 0 troop transports. There is also a memory bug that is caused by loading a save game, which is compounded by saving and reloading that game until Windows refuses to give GC2 more memory, so you may have also run afoul of that.
jmccrea, If you don't have SmartException installed, please install and run it from https://www.stardock.com/products/smartexception It will generate a crash log whenever GC2 crashes, which you can send in to [email protected]
Probably a bug. I'll add it to the list.
I believe that we have fixed it here for the next update.
If you turn off the checkbox that says show pre-release versions, you can un-install and re-install 1.2. There is a bug in the load game code that causes too much memory to be allocated, and if the game is saved after loading, that memory becomes part of the save game, so the more you load and save the games, the bigger the game gets until Windows refuses to give GalCiv2 any more memory. It is possible to avoid the bug if you don't have to save and reload. I hav
Also, you guys can create your own channels on irc.stardock.com and hang out there. Or hang out in #galciv and PM each other.
It's a bug in the loading code that is causing a dynamic array to be created much larger than necessary. Then, when the game is saved again, that large size is saved into the game. If you were then to load that save game, the array would be created even larger, and so on until Windows refuses to allocate any more memory. So you can avoid it if you don't have to save and reload. I have fixed this bug here, and the fix will be in the next update.
Well, to try to save it now, see if turning off all the textures and stuff reduced the memory enough to save it. For your next game, try clearing out your ships directory from My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships and My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Metaverse\ships. I'm looking into the problem.
You can still change the race name, on the race cusomization screen. Just click on the name of the race.
We have already fixed the bugs with the missing jewelry, bad planet surfaces, missing fleet icons, and the wrong intelligence string on the Foreign stats. I'm still going to have to make sure that my fixes have not broken character entry (ie for naming ships) for the non English versions. You can ignore those missing OBJIDs from the stacked ship window. They're no longer used. The other ones were reported after I left on Friday, so I'll have to check into them
If you changed the video drivers, it might have changed your desktop resolution.
C will center on the selected ship. TAB will take you to the next available ship with moves. Z and X will cycle through your planets.
1.3 is in beta right now, and is only available from Stardock Central. You should not download the beta unless you are prepared to deal with bugs and report those bugs.
Yeah, I know it's not perfect, but it's pretty good and making it more perfect would increase the complexity of the code and decrease performance. If I have more than one ship on auto-explore, I keep an eye on them, and will change the destination of ships occasionally. Also, the reason that it doesn't automatically switch to auto-explore after auto-survey is because we don't like to take too much control out of the hands of the players. Sure, you might want the survey shi
I think that the Omega Drivers are probably the best ones for his laptop, because it's very similar to mine; he's using the latest drivers available. I don't have much trouble with it, but I force it to run in hardware acceleration. Just set these options under video in your prefs.ini: NoPointSprites=1 GfxForceNoPointSprites=1 You may also have to turn off Anti-aliasing.
