EDIT: EU users should now be able to download the update for 2.02. All of the tweaks were done by Brad over Thanksgiving weekend, since he can't help but start tweaking stuff while he's playing. :) So you have an additional reason to be thankful this year! + TWEAK: Ethical alignment becomes increasingly a source of tension as the game goes on in terms of diplomatic relations + TWEAK: Altarian AI more sensitive about falling behind in military ha
It is unlikely that games saved before an update will be compatible once the game has been installed I'm afraid. You will likely have to start a new campain once you update.
If you delete the save games but keep the .campaignsav file, your progress will be saved and you will only have to restart your current mission.
Can we get the Arnorian shipstyle too? It was promised for 2.0 but you didn't have time to implement it right? Oh and can we get player usable dreadlords style too?
Unfortunately, the answer is no to both your questions. We just don't have the time to do it right now.
I hope it will be available soon and fix the bugs with minor races, English texts instead of German texts and random crash-downs in the German version
Yes, the crashes with the minor races are fixed, but the text that is still in English is because not all of the values were translated, so it's up to Kalypso to fix those. They asked for updated text for 2.0 but I don't know if they've finished them yet.
That would be great. As a Win2k user, I'd really love to be able to use Stardock Central to get GalCiv 2.0. I'm not opposed to upgrading my OS and using Impulse ("Elemental" looks like a good reason to do that eventually), it's just that at the moment I'd like to spend my spare time playing a game rather than updating my OS, getting informed about Impulse, and getting everything to work. With Stardock Central, I know that I just have to click three times to update my game. I absolutely
Previous save games are not compatible with 2.0. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Fixed. Not sure how/when the logic error was introduced.
Nevermind, tested this without cheats and it didn't work for me either. Fixed it. I'm not sure when or why this would have been changed.
You don't have cheats enabled do you? The cheats key callback might be blocking it, because it also uses CTRL+M
I have several spies placed race-wide against others. I want to remove one so that I can use it to remove a foreign spy on one of my planets. When I press the remove button on the race-wide races, it does not remove it, instead it just pages/slides over to expose the remaining races.
Fixed this. Sorry that this slipped through the cracks.
No, that's not a known error. Memory parity crashes are bad. Try running memtest. http://www.memtest.org/
Go to My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor and clear out everything but the prefs.ini file and see if that helps. If not, please send the debug.err to with a description of the problem.
Try going to intel's website and see if you can get updated drivers. You may also want to check the website for your monitor's manufacturer to see if there are Vista drivers for your monitor as Vista doesn't always play nice with the default monitor driver. We also put up an update to Dread Lords on Impulse that has some compatibility fixes for Vista, although fonts were never a problem.
I'm going to say tomorrow at the earliest. We were having technical difficulties last week that prevented us from getting it up, and users have reported a few bugs that I want to make sure get fixed before we put up the EU update.
Click on the orb in Impulse, then More preferences, then on Folders, then click Reset Data. That should re-download all of your xml folders. You can also try clicking Check for Updates to see if there are any updates to Impulse that you need.
now there's GC2 EU and GC2 UE, how fun is that ?
Heh. Interally, we're using GC2UL for Ultimate just to keep it a bit clearer.
You can clear out old ship designs by deleting the folder at My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\ships and My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\Metaverse\ships. There's also an option to make it not save ship designs to the hard drive.
all im saying is that i have never had a problem with impulse, it has been fast and convienent. none of the people i know that have used impulse have had an issue with it. maybe its an issue on YOUR systems and not an issue with impulse. just whining to stardock about not updating a game on a system that they said was being shut down just makes you, like i said before, WHINERS!
Odok, just let it drop. You're not helping.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we won't be able to get the update for EU users up today, and it won't be available until late Monday at the earliest, but hopefully no later than Tuesday. We've been working on it since the regular 2.0 update went up, but we've been having some technical difficulties. I'm sorry for the delay, and we will do our best to get it into your hands as soon as possible. EDIT: The update won't be available today, but possibly to
The only thing that we updated in DA 2.0 was the espionage, and compatibility fixes for 64 bit Vista.
It could be that you had multiple invalid race configs. Did you try removing all of them?
Hitting tab will take you to the next ship available that has moves. If you hit C, the game will center on the currently select ship, and if it's awaiting orders, you can either hit skip (space bar) or give it new orders. There's an option to Skip Moves Left After Auto Pilot which is on by default, but if it's off, a ship that reaches its destination with moves left will wait for new orders rather than going on to the next ship on autopilot.
Unless I need to make further changes to Dread Lords for compatibility, it's not going to be updated anymore. There are no features changes in 1.53 for Dread Lords, it's just compatibility fixes for Vista and 64 bit Vista. Apart from compatibility fixes, the only feature changed in Dark Avatar was the race-wide espionage, which is all we promised for DA. The Arnorian ship style is not included because we ran out of time. As I said in another thread, if for some r
So the patch is just an exe we can copy over? Or are you saying do a full install and then move the whole folder?
I meant copy the folder (but leave out the sig.bin file).
Ahh hmm. Yeah no third party really but one still needs the additional program... that's what matters
It's less wasted space than if we had an auto-downloader in all of our games. We're also working to make it so that you can get updates from other vendors as
