I'm playing the DA Campaign with the Ultimate Edition (TOA 2.02, painful). I found the winning strategy to be much the same as other DL Scenarios from the DL Campaign. Start with +2 speed. Grab several colonies quickly. Put some transport hunters in play early. Speed 8, lots of sensors, small weapons, small defense if any. Lead DL warships on a wild goose chase, pick off the transports. In my game the main stratigic contestwas Vizzard. I spent the

I read a similar suggestion and tried it and made it part of my standard approach. I think the same author suggested converting beginning constructors to colony ships and rebuilding the constructors later. I don't do that as much, but it would have been useful in some scen

I think your strategy is sound and much better formulated than mine was a month ago. I'm confident a beginner could take your suggestions and win this scenario. I'm retired and spend hours a day gaming so I've progressed a great deal in a month. I have a few comments to stir discussions.
In this kind of missions I go for a strategy that follows in this order: 1. When facing the Dread Lords, I guess its a good idea t
I like speed alot, and like economics and morale, it is helpful the entire game. I prefer it over the others because it also allows you to explore more anomalies which can improve economics and morale. In the long run, I believe that the additional anomalies you find will give you more +eco and +morale then the initial selection of those abilities.
I agree with you on the anomalies. I routinely make i

I'm not sure about your specific question. What I am sure of is that you can sometimes steal a tech when you capture a planet from a minor race and one might assume that the two go together. A question in return. Can you ever do enough "global" spying to be able to view a planet of a minor race? I'm playing TA.

It seems I should always select the ability "Speed +2 parsecs per week" as one of my racial abilities. I have read others talk about putting engines on all their ships. Seems that would not be practical until late in the game. I want my first bare coloney ships to go faster, same for constructors, freighters and survey ships. If my warships are faster then I can control which battles are fought and which are avoided. What could possibly be more valuable tha
I played the DL campaign from the Ultimate Edition, TA 2.02. I had a problem with Apocalyspe. I fixed it with the scenario editor. On a scale of 1 to 10 computer skills, I'm about a 3. It wasn't even that difficult. I did run into a problem in the last scenario, Escape, in what I believe was the last battle. I alway

I just finished an immense, crippling, TA 2.02, Drath victory. I (almost accidentally) achieved an influence victory. Since I had about 160 colonies to a total of maybe 20 for the three surviving AI civs, I suppose I could have started a war and won any kind of victory I wanted. I was about 70 turns from ascension. The game was about 7 1/2 years long. I felt like I was stuck in the middle of the pack until I initiated my first war between my opponents, In a matter of we

Once an Influence Starbase has accomplished it's purpose, why keep it? If everything inside the circle of effect has come over to your side, why keep the starbase? In my current game I'm up against the logistics limit and I've started destroying influence starbases that have accomplished their purpose and replacing them with economic starbases.
Certainly late game woes can be triggered by expensive structures. More often its triggerred by war, transports depleting populations, costs of building on captured planets. Also, when an economic boon event goes away, watch out. Consider converting planets to all economy, its very easy to do. The starport can be idle, or slowly make transports.
What do you mean, all economy? Are you overbuilding structures

My general approach is to keep the production slider on 100% and keep all planets working. I'll take care of the money somehow. In my current game (Drath, immense, crippling, TA 2.02) that strategy failed me. One of my problems was that I didn't know about the financial windfall the Drath gain from other civ's wars. I didn't start the fighting nearly early enough. At one point I could build both Industrial Sectors and Discovery Spheres, and I did, every chance
Hi! IMO you have 3 options: 1) Don't include Drath in your game. 2) Mod them to have some other special ability. 3) If they're small, wipe them out in one single turn. Needs more preparation, but after you conquer their planets, they're proclaimed dead. No more messing with their fleets, SBs, and special ability. BR, iztok
4) Be the Drath!

I just finished experimenting with invasion tactics! let me set up the situation. I'm approaching the end of a very successful sandbox game playing Drath at crippling with version 2.02 TA. A mega event allows the Jagged Edge to take 47 planets including 34 of my planets. I can easily win a tech victory or with some patience, an ascension victory. Since the JE is a minor race I suppose I could go ahead and finish off the Yor and Korath Clan. Since those options don't go away, I decided

I've seen the Yor Speed reduction work three different ways now. Current game, I'm Drath. When my speed 9 survey vessel starts a move in Yor space, it's speed is reduced to 3. In the DL Campaign, playing Terran of course, there seemed to be no penalty for starting a turn in Yor space. In earlier games, including when I played as the Yor, I think the speed of enemy ships in Yor space was reduced by 1. What gives?

In my current game I'm trying to slow down the neighboring Thalens. On their home planet they have three Galactic Achievements, the Economic Direction Unit, 25% BC, the Temporal Entertainment, +50% morale and the Hyperion Matrix, +16 mp, +16 tp and +8 mt food. I can nullify the Economic Direction Unit but not the other two. Is there a rule about what can be sabotaged?

I went back to the saved game, Salvation_EndGameSave, and replayed the mission. This took a bit longer in game time, I only got one 25% research boost from a Civilization Graveyard. I attacked on 1 July 2227 and got the same results, DL tech -272, my invasion roll -21474.

When I start the game, on the main menu screen, in the lower left hand corner it says Twilight of the Arnor ver. 2.02. I installed the Ultimate Edition. I patched it using the utility from the main menu. When I learned there was a ver. 2.03 I patched again from the main menu and it said it was installing 2.03 but still shows 2.02 on the main menu screen. I went back and dumped 500 M troops from one transport and Researched Basic logistics and finished Interstellar War College to get m

Great game, very few problems! I have the Ultimate Edition updated to 2.02, I guess that means this is a TA problem, if I understand the lingo. I'm running under Vista. My computer properties tell me I have an AMD Athlon ( tm ) 64 X2 Dual Core processor 4000+ with 3.00 GB memory. I've completed 5 sandbox games including two immense galaxies as well as the first 9 scenarios in this campaign without any serious technical problems.</spa

Very Disappointing!!! After two weeks of this campaign taking over my life, it appears the last scenario is broken. I have reached the last planet, occupied by 20M DL troops. I have invaded several DL planets during the course of this campaign, 1B against 20M is pretty much always enough. So, it's 1 April 2227 and the DL have yet to produce a ship. I hit Karion with a transport carrying 1B troops and get the following results. Ter

The thing I've liked the most about the campaign scenarios is the need to adjust your strategy for the situation you are thrown into! Playing the different races in sandbox games requires that you make adjustments to your basic approach , but the same priorities and tactics seem to work throughout. I won a technological victory with the Arcean

From personal observation, the tp carry over to the next tech in the tree. I've actually picked up two techs in one turn when researching low level techs late in the game. From GalCiv2 Wiki, if the tech you are researching has no followup tech, the extra tp are wasted.

Your playing the dread lords (as stated in previous post AI is much improved in expansions) and on top of that your playing the second campain mission. Of course the AI is gonna be easy on the SECOND mission the advanced algorithms that tough AI normally has doesn't apply in this case because its a scriped campain mission and not a sand box game. OK, done. I staged 6 constructors by each of the 8 unclaimed military resources. I built a few troop transports and the rest tiny fighters and assembled 2 fleets (logistics 58) made up mostly of the tiny fighters with some small and medium ships left over from the Y or/ Dregin war. I never had a large ship in this scenario. My fighters had 12 attack in the shipyard, 15 attack with my accumulated bonuses and once I mined the eight military resources their a
