Well, I will be frelled. ... In light of this highly unexpected piece of news, I have decided to try to hurry up and finish all of my AARs, including not only this one but the long-abandoned " Galactic Wars " and the never-begun " Epic of the Torians ". Obviously, real life will cause som

Back in the original days of these forums, some people apparently posted AARs in the Game Talk section or other sections instead of in the AAR section (which may not have existed yet). I'm creating this thread to try and make them accessible to anyone who might still be interested in reading them. These first 8 AARs were all found through use of this thread. My very own Game
Okay, I'm not really certain what you're talking about. This is how Kinetic Streams appears in my games: a bunch of vaguely electrical-looking beams all going off together. If it lasts for an extra-lengthy amount of time, it's not something I've ever really noticed.
Isn't that just the flavor of the Iconian/Yor unique weapons, though? They're all a bunch of little weapons being fired off together.
Part 17, continued By the way, here is a link to pictures of the New York class battleship. As 2234 went on, I continued to closely monitor the actions of the Torians and Korx. Though still losing overall, the Korx had begun to inflict serious damage on the advancing Torian armadas. <img src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee492/qrtxian/GC2TA_TerranAlliance_136771582
Bumping so I can remember where this is, because I'm going to resume it this weekend.
I have to agree a little with the previous poster, rude though he was: playing against AIs set to "Beginner" mode is probably not going to be very entertaining to watch.
The military rankings are pretty much the only thing the AI considers when you ask it for peace, actually. Though it might offer peace on its own if it's fighting other wars or is just tired of the conflict.
That did it. Thanks!
The e-mail address I'm using for this account is going to expire soon. How do I change it to a more current address without needing to create an entirely new account? (I'm well aware that this has nothing to do with GalCiv 2, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the forums for other kinds of technical help, so).
The AI can make a very serious run at an ascension victory, but in 30+ games of Twilight I've seen it maybe twice. You don't need to worry unless the countdown reaches the hundred-turn mark.
I've failed to get them to appear in any game on any expansion or even vanilla.
They won't show up in vanilla GCII. It's a mega event, and those weren't added until DA. I don't play Suicidal, so I can't say whether or not they can appear on it specifically, but I see them about once every ten games in DA and TOA on Tough.
Unfortunately, further testing proved this is not how the event works in DA. The Dread Lords appear on a random planet, which then changes to appear as a normal planet (as opposed to say the Vegans where it continues to outwardly look like a gas giant or whatever). There doesn't seem to be an upper limit to their appearances. Apart from my speculation that a certain period of time has to pass - which I can't actually prove since the cheat to force their appearance can be done
Bumping this because I think I've solved part of the mystery. After doing a lot of testing, I still can't figure out what - if any - trigger there is for the Dread Lords showing up, but I have determined that (at least in TOA; it might have worked differently in DA) there actually is a cut-off point for their appearances. It's not related to tech or exploration as such, but seems to be when the last habitable planet is colonized: unlike Vegans and other pop-up minor races

I don't play for score either, but I've seen it happening plenty of times in my games. All the way back to when I was starting to play DL. It really seems to depend on playstyle.
Since you bring up playstyle: do you generally play smaller galaxies? My experience comes mostly from the sort of settings whe
I've read somewhere that the game starts to mess up if you play for extremely long times, but there is no hardcoded year limit that I know of.
Mine never last long, usually ~50 years or much less due to my insane bonuses.
My longest game lasted into the seventeenth year; the longest game I've ever heard of before was in the 20s. 50 years is not what I'd call "never lasting long".
Well, I don't play for score, so that might be part of it too.
This isn't unusual. If you are powerful enough, the AI is willing to give you some of its planets in exchange for peace. If you are exceptionally powerful, it may even give you ALL of its planets. I consider the last part an unconditional surrender of the AI, but it still feels weird.
People always say this, but I have never seen it in literally hundreds of games. You can trade for planets with lower populations easily,
So you took advantage of the fact that the disease weakened them... and now you're mad because they're weak? I'm not sure I entirely follow this. At any rate, as far as I've ever seen, the galactic disease is not bugged. It's more likely that the Terrans collapsed because of your invasions and spies. (Incidentally, this event was the galactic disease, not the plague).
That was an entertaining read.
I've personally never seen anything that convinced me the AI personalities are changed by the dialogue tag.
It's possible the dialogue tags don't change things. But I'm 99% certain there are some deeper differences than the four "top-level" personalities. Custom races aren't necessarily going to show it; the real question would be what happened if you (say) modded the Drengin or Yor specifically to ha
The Drath AI also buys a whole lot of ships, something I've never really seen from the other AIs with personality 8.
The Korath-specific version is the only AI capable of using Spore ships. The downside, however, is that it will never research Planetary Invasion techs. Nor will it ever build troop transports, should it get it's hand on the techs after all (by trading or stealing them).
Also, while they might have ch
Did the "minor steals leading major race's techs and offers to trade them for planets" event happen? That tends to be the most common cause of this sort of thing.
Added links to the other threads. Also, bump.
Not as such, no. You can aggressively tale control of asteroid mines using influence starbases, or blow them to smithereens if you're at war. Barring those options you'll just have to suffer.
I think he's actually referring to the messages you get about mining bases defecting or threatening to defect.
