2)Though it does not seem like it at the moment the Nolan plot line is actually the most important to date. This little conflict with the carinoids minor race will not tax the Federation's war machine to an extreme like a war with a major race would. I declared war on the carinoids just as they were starting to really build up their military. In previous experiences I've foud that if you leave a little minor race unattended to du

Reports of the demise of this AAR seem to be unfounded! My provisional comments:
Very good questions chancellor 1)There will be a thalan related post soon. I am simply trying to decide in what way is best to incorporate them. I also have to take into account where I think the game will go in order to make sure my story continues to make sense. I debated a long time on how best to introduce them and in the end
So, just to be clear on this, are you recommending I delete only the Raceconfig files that are variants to the default races (i.e things like the "Terran Commonwealth") or all the custom races? I assume deleting the defaults will cause bad things to happen. Also, if this is the reason, why does it only seem to be the race 0 code being affected? I known I've also made Altarian, Drengin, and Torian variants, yet those race slots work fine in the mod.
Grr... Stupid double posts.
mambaman: I have now. With Admiral Maximus apparently MIA, it seems you are the last, best hope for the AAR forum (I'm too lazy to write one, myself).
Given the identity of the previous reviewer, any comments I have will fall hopelessly short. Nevertheless... Well done! The best of your AARs by far (not that the other ones were bad) and a truly epic tale. I'd be all in favor of another one. Your characterization and battle scenes were good, and I especially liked how the 'multi-racial' Terran military reflected the alien planets you gained through influence. There were a few typos, but they hardly distracted from the story.
Edit: Double post, ignore.
Bumping this as the bug is still not fixed.
GalCiv 1 has no campaign mode. I don't have the Altarian Prophecy so I don't know anything about that campaign. I've been able to follow the storyline in GalCiv II very well without it. I don't have the expansions either, but I actually feel that the DA campaign has the most creative storyline. Playing as the Drengin gives it a very different (in a good way) feel from the more typical "Humans must save the galaxy from Ultimate Evil!" DL and TOA campaigns. That said,
Why is everything here an insult? Sure they're funny, but some of the other topics can be too. For instance: Arcean to Human, Grovel Relations Very Low What does the great [YourLeaderName], who we deeply and sincerely regret calling a 'talking monkey', wish of us? And on that note, your Arcean dialogue seems a bit... one-track. Why not do the rest of the races while you're at it: <
Don't look in the program directory. The save files are stored in a different directory within the "my documents" folder. It would probably be called GC2DreadLords.
That's what I was talking about. The files were in a My Documents - My Games - GalCiv 2 folder. I'm aware it's not the same as the program files. Could you clear up what you meant in the second paragraph? Why exactly would the .racecon
The "-" is found in front of all default race config files, for example: - Terran Alliance 50 Also, I'm fairly certain now that the problem is not with the race 0 code. I tried a few other test mods in which the race 0 code was not modified at all from the default Terrans, and the exact same problem occurred. As for your
Anyone else? I still need help with this. The mods are playable but the 'nameless race' is really annoying me (and starting with no techs when I play as them is just as fun as it sounds).
Not to continue this threadjacking, but I did actually find one with saves: Detailed Suicidal AAR for DA If the link doesn't work (I'm still not sure how to do them), it's a few pages back on the AARs forum.
Game is original DL, not Ultimate Edition, which I don't have. I thought I said that in the original post? Maybe not.
This is not the exact race 0 code I was using, as I deleted that (see above). However, since all I did was change the name, logo, and portrait of the default Terran Alliance, it's not hard to recreate. I should note this happens even when the race 0 is the default Terran Alliance now (in mods; the unmodded game works fine). I made a 'mirror universe' mod that did nothing but switch the good and evil races' alignments and a few of their names (e.g., Drengin Empire be
Then again, maybe we're being a little impatient here. The Admiral once took almost a month to update, and that was before the untimely demise of his laptop. And as someone who's too lazy even to start an AAR, I've got to respect anyone who does.
Shame to hear that, Admiral. I too have a laptop and damage to it is my greatest fear. I'm currently reading "From the Ashes" and it's quite good. I haven't even made it to the sequel here yet, but I thought I'd post to let you know there are definitely still AAR readers on the forums here. Keep up the good work! (Speaking of which... a 'week' consists of seven days. It's been 18...)
After reading a number of guides online, I decided to try my hand at modding this game. My first test was a very simple experiment in which I replaced all the race names, portraits, and logos with those of the races from a silly sci-fi comic I draw in my spare time. It worked... mostly. For some reason I still can't understand, the civilization in slot 0 (the Terrans in the default game) was replaced by a civilization with no name, no logo, and no leader. This also seemed to bump all
Gorlums: As a long-time reader but only recent member of these forums, I don't know how to post the links, but there are quite a few 'game report' style AARs out there. A lot of them are geared to either playing Suicidal/Masochistic difficulty or Metaverse users, neither of which interest me, but they might be good for you. My personal favorites are those done by HydroAC, which explored a number of different races in DA. A couple of them are written in a fanfiction format, but general
