Believe it or not, this is not dead! I just haven't played GalCiv II in a while.

I kind of zoned out on this. I should be getting back on it soon.
I will sometime, but I need to finish my ongoing (mostly) nonfiction AAR first.
It's too bad that we can't get some AI fixes in so that they realise when they're overstuffing the galaxy with starbases and disband the ones they don't need. I guess fixing logistics so they don't go broke is the next best thing, then.
It's too bad that we can't get some AI fixes in period. So, if anyone had such a situation, do you remember, if you got a message from that race first?
I've seen this on many occasions - in fact, it's the most common way for AIs to surrender to me, as usually they'll try and spite me by surrendering to someone else if we're at war - and I've never seen any pr
Sorry I kind of dropped out of this. Time issues, plus - as I said before - my personal modding efforts have always been more about fixing bugs than making actual changes . What's the current situation?

I'm going to second (third?) setting the Drengin to AI personality 8. The Drengin work best if they're aggressive, and 8 is much more of a bully than 11. The Korath, on the other hand, I prefer to keep on AI personality 7. As Gaunathor says it is workable under the right circumstances, and it's the only way to get them to use spore ships.
I'm not sure how much I can contribute to this, because truth be told, I've never had much interest in making the AI more effective in general - only in fixing the obvious errors. But on that note, I used to have a list compiled of strange categorizations that made the AI not research certain techs. I'll have to go looking for it, but off the top of my head, the biggest one is that the Terrans, Altarians, Drath, and Korx all have Space Weapons classified as a point defense tech, m
By the way, I'd appreciate any feedback on the amount of details people want me to go into here. This is a seriously huge war.
Part 24: War! Continued While my war with the Torians raged, my allies were occupying themselves with somewhat less epic struggles. The Krynn had begun a campaign of conquest against the miserable Thalan, and the Arceans soon joined them. <img src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee492/qrtxian/qrtxian
I'm sorry this has taken so long to update. I should have another post up fairly soon.
To be fair, the beta is out now. "Sneak previews" are a bit outdated at this point.
Part 23, cont. Three weeks into the new year, the remaining Drath ships in Torian space all formed into a single fleet for their last stand. This did them no good, as they were completely wiped out by the Torian fleet that had been formerly defending Avignon without inflicting a single casualty. <img src="http:
Part 23: Apocalypse 2236 As the new year began, four major fronts existed in the Torian War. In local space, a few former Iconian colonies remained under Torian control. With the help of the Scottlingas, I was moving to eliminate these colonies before the Torians could use them to advance their fleets left over from the Korx conflict against Earth or the other worlds. By Torian space, the First Fleet and Task Force 39 continued to strike at lightly defended To
As it happens, I'm actually working on a post now, though it might wait a day for my internet connection to improve. The Torian War is in full swing and is proving pretty exciting; it's rare that I fight a war of this scope at this level of technology in TA.
So is anyone (er, anyone who doesn't come across as a spambot) still interested in this? I do intend to finish it either way, if only because I'm trying to avoid writing one of those AARs that just die off, but I would be a lot more motivated if I knew anyone else cared.
I've played GS2 for year but did not know it had a campign until now. I don't usally like campaigns in 4x games anyway since I perfer the sandbox part of the games.
The campaigns are explicitly secondary to the sandbox mode. Their main purpose is to familiarize players with the background.
And the same thing has just happened in another game, this time with the Yor. Still no indication of anything odd in the debug.err. Again, I've literally never seen this before, so it's not just a problem with the dialogue file or the mod. Something has to have changed.
While playing a TA game today, I received this rather bizarre message from a custom opponent: The next turn confirmed that they had declared war on me. I've never seen anything like this before, either earlier in this particular game or anywhere else. I haven't modded the dialogue other than to correct some bugs and t
Part 22: The Torian War Begins The first week of the war against the Torians saw numerous actions, as the forces I had previously readied for action now struck. I suffered one setback immediately, as the ancient UP law against first strikes resulted in a number of my ships being ejected from Torian space. Two t
Sorry I haven't posted here in a while - term papers kept me away from my computer. I'll update this soon.
I would also recommend starting with APT1. It's pretty much what I did with my own personal fix mod; some of the others are quite different from the vanilla game and don't interest me that much. In my view you should at least play the game as it was meant to be played before deciding how you want to change it.
Your criticism is noted, but I'm honestly just writing this thing in chronological order, with a few alterations to keep strings of related events together. It's not a story-type AAR and it's not meant to flow like a story. As noted earlier, my internet connection has been very bad lately, so I'm intentionally making short posts to try and avoid a damaging crash. I chose to make this a new installment because this was more about the final events before the Torian war b
