well in a sense, a b5 mod would be able to use all of the current beam/missile/mass driver stuff. with adapted names. because most b5 ships used an assortment of weapons, such as missiles, railguns, and beam weapons. as for propulsion, the high end propulsion systems were usually based on a hyperspace tap to provide energy. My advice would be to add a whole new branch info the tech tree, which deals with Power Plants, and have the weapons available to you based on this.<br/

You can add new Hulls in the GCTypes.xml file I beleive, well thats where I add them. Just do a Copy/Paste of the Hulls u want, then edit the HP and Tech Requirements etc and you can tweak them as much as you want.

afaik they only approve stuff for the Library to make sure that it doesnt have any copyright problems etc. and if they dont, then they are made official. you can still host them yourself, or let someone else host them.

Having seperate tech tree's has disadvantages as well as advantages, which is why I think its a bad idea. As it would cut out the advantage of using Espionage to steal technologies, or conquering planets to gain technologies. atleast with a morality split, its fairly easy to do, and it means that techs can be stolen and captured.

Right, i've been trying to create a Defence Component that protects against all 3 weapon types, so that I can creat components which can tie into a Mod that im working on. I've tried adding a 4th Class of Defence, but I think there must be things im Missing, as I cant seem to get it to work. Is it even possible to do? And if it is, how can I do it?

maybe Guard mode should have to be attatched to another ship,planet or starbase? so you set it to guard over something? and it intercepts any hostile ship which approaches it. And sentry keeps with the meaning of the world Sentry. I.e it Watches for movement and keeps an eye open for potential hostiles.

Only way I know of doing that. Is to create a New tech, and have the requirements of that tech to be the ones you want it to require. and then set the tech req's for that structure to be the new tech.

If you really want to create an unbeatable race........... do the following: Create a new tech, and then make it cost something like 50million research points. and then add whatever abilities you want your race to have. The go into the RaceConfig file, and add that tech to the starting techs of the race u want to use. You'll be pretty much invulnerable... i.e set soldiering to 5000 and nothing will ever invade u. and ec

Yeah, that'd be cool, the more people we have working on it, as long as it isnt rediculously large amounts of people, the more intricate the tree and the components can be. might be worth setting up some forums? if there's enough people interrested in the mod, i'll set up a forum on one of my websites so far I've toyed about with a lot of the tech tree names and discriptions, but I Havent played with the tech tree to much regarding placement

Perhaps have it based around the united planets then? i.e If you sign a peace treaty, you cannot attack that empire again for 3 months. yes 12 turns. or maybe even 6 months. and if you break it and attack them. then every member of the UP not allied to you directly declares war on your empire. makes things a bit more interresting atleast.

You could do a racial tree in a manner of speaking..... Moraility Based would be the easiest way atm... I.E Empire = Evil..... I wouldnt advise having class 26 worlds most of the time though I find that class 25 allows more chance of the terraforming techs giving you additional tiles... I did a lot of experimentation into it. i still think it would be nice to be able to save a template of a ship. I.e a ship that has just the Hull + eye Candy with no components. Saving these in a file where people can upload them onto the net and let other people use there templates would be pretty cool.

well. its simply using resources which could be used on other area's of the game. areas which are probably more important........... yeah. take me for instance. so far ive not had a game last for more than like 5 minutes before it CTD's. so its a case of sending in the error reports. But atleast I can feel safe in the knowledge that once the game is complete. I will know for a fact that I'll be able to play it . and to me thats what really counts. as well as being able to put in my thoughts on suggestions and alike.
