Downloaded .76[b].003 (Beta 4a?). I started the game from the GalCv II Config tool, saved and quit. Now if I try to start the game again I get a window that asks me to activate the game by entering my email and product code. I can still start the game ok from the GalCiv II Config tool or from Stardock Central, just not from the Windows Start menu.

Integer overflow on planet influence? I've converted all AI planets through my overwhelming cultural influence except one. I'm not sure that one is ever going to convert since its influence is shown as (when I select the planet): 13 ip (5061...) instead of the usual figure between 0 and 4. ... it did eventually convert.
In the tech tree "Stinger IV" is misspelled as "Singer IV". I'm sure that lobbing Barbara Streisand at a Drengin ship could have awful consequences, but I don't think that's what you meant
Is Xeno farming supposed to replace the basic farm with the xeno farm? Is a research academy supposed to replace the research lab? They don't. They're new buildings, not upgrades.
I started out as the Federalist party, but once I changed to Republic and the first vote came up, I was told that I was the Technologists, that the Federalists had won the vote, and I was losing my party advantages. Please note that I had reloaded the game after a crash ... just in case the party identities got messed up by that.
CTD trying to start my first beta 4 game. I got all the way through selecting galaxy size, race, and opponents, but crashed when it should have been showing me the generated galaxy map. Report sent to gc2bugs. Forgot to mention, I had uninstalled beta 3 and then installed beta 4 from scratch.
I just tried starting a new game with the Iconians as the only opponent, gigantic galaxy size. The screen came up black, but when I moved my mouse pointer over the screen it displayed coordinates like [0,-1], [-10,-1], etc. As I used the scroll wheel to zoom out and then back in, the galaxy star background appeared (but with no stars), then went back to black. When I clicked on the minimap in the vicinity of Earth, the display went back to normal. It appears I was positioned off th
If I set an autopilot destination in empty space, I see a nice target to remind me where the ship is going. If I set an autopilot destination to send a colony ship to a planet, I would like to see a similar target surrounding the planet. I'm currently playing in a large galaxy and pumping out colony ships so fast I'm losing track of where I'm sending them. In a tiny or small galaxy I could see where my ships were going in the minimap, but in the large galaxy the minimap is very difficult to u
I'm trying out running in a 1280x1024 window. In the colony management window, the Available Projects list takes up only about 50 to 60% of the space available. A scroll bar appears, but there's plenty of room below it for the list to use. I can send a screen capture if someone wants it.
I just ran into a CTD on startup that sounds similar to this one. I'll try wiping the ships and saved game. I emailed the exception report and saved game to gcbugs.
After reloading a game from the last autosave, several planets where I was upgrading Market Centers to Trade Centers show them as Market Centers with 0 weeks to completion. They have not completed even after many more turns. When I select the existing Market Center no options are shown for upgrading (i.e. I can't select Trade Center), while Trade Centers are available for building on other planets. I have a saved game that hopefully could be used to illustrate the problem. If you w
While clicking in turn on the population, military, economy, research, and influence graphs, when I hit the influence graph the screen went blank, I got the hourglass cursor, and there it sat. I eventually killed it with the task manager. Sorry I don't have anything more concrete to send you - I've tried to recreate it and have not been able to.
I realize that the tech tree isn't finished, but in case this is supposed to be working, I thought I'd report that researching trade allowed me 1 trade route, but researching advanced trade didn't give me any additional routes.
I clicked on one of my freighters, and then, instead of clicking on a planet to send it to, I accidentally right clicked on one of my starbases. The freighter took off for the starbase, of course, but the problem is that I was unable to change the course until it arrived at the starbase. I tried clicking on it and then selecting a new destination 3 times while it was making its way to the starbase, but it would not be deterred from its original course.
I agree, those bars are very hard to see.
Are you clicking the mouse ON the choices, or on the almost invisible (at least on my screen) checkbox to the left of the choices? If you click the checkbox then a button appears that you can use to exit the window.
It's not just you. I noticed the same thing. The AI was producing tiny ships that overpowered my medium hull ships, because I couldn't fit enough armament in the medium hull. Miniaturization doesn't seem to do anything.
Some of the techs, for the ships enabled by that tech, list the same ship twice. For example, Stinger II lists "Attacker", "Fighter", and then "Attackerr" again. By the way, despite researching all the techs I could find that listed fighter or attacker as ships enabled by that tech, I have yet to see those ship classes showing up in my shipyard. Is that a bug, or are there yet more techs I have to complete to enable those ships?
When I ask for autopilot routes to be shown on the minimap, I see the one for my flagship but not for any of my colony ships.
In addition to dragging the tech tree around, I found that if you click on a tech (but you have to click in the right spot, it's kind of finicky) it will center that tech in the bottom screen. I like the fact that the techs you can research are ordered by cost, but the navigation of the tree still leaves something to be desired. BTW, given that you can now start out with some of the techs already researched, is there any point in researching the pre-requisi
Thanks for your help. I found the administrative tools, started the services applet, and stopped the firewall and security center. Disciples still wouldn't start. Might just have to write that one off.
Glenn, yes I got SP2 via Windows Update. I'm using XP Home, though, not Professional. Forgive my ignorance, but how do I get to the services applet, and what do I disable when I get there? Is it obvious? Thanks.
I re-downloaded and reinstalled Political Machine and it works OK. So far.
I have Windows XP Firewall turned off, I run Zone Alarm instead. And I was running Zone Alarm before Political Machine and Disciples II quit working. I'm not sure what Disciples II does with internet access. The symptom is that it puts up a small menu that lets you choose between starting two different versions of the game, Gallean's Return or Rise of the Elves, and no matter which one you choose the menu goes away for a half a second, then reappears, bu
Mods are good. Mods kept me playing GC:AP for a long long time. Excellent news.
