Question: Player Ships vs AI Ships

I've only had a quick run, but I've noticed that the AI can produce tiny/small ships with say 1Beam/1 Shield/1 Armour, and I can't physically reproduce that type of ship with the tech I've researched, because my stuff is simply too large (eg Stingers are Size 16, Armour Size 10, Deflectors Size 11). i've tried to research miniature techs to see if i can produce a tiny/small fighter, but can't. is it just me?

It's not just you. I noticed the same thing. The AI was producing tiny ships that overpowered my medium hull ships, because I couldn't fit enough armament in the medium hull. Miniaturization doesn't seem to do anything.

I uspect the AI is starting with more tech than us atm so can do much more. Balancing will come.

We will be checking on that.  The AI is suppposed to use the same functions with the same safeguards as the humans so there shouldn'be be a problem. 

I will try to post some example AI ships to show what they are doing.

thanx frogboy. i think it might be a bit funny, i saw an Altarian Flagship very early on that was 2Beam/2Missile/2Mass and 2Armour/2Shield/2Chaff and i was still making musket balls.......

I've noticed a similar problem, helps now that I've been using another method to thwart the AI.

Yep , same thing here , the AI have "Ataker" class 4-5 ships very early , even if I have 2 planets and doing research in that area but AI enemy only one ...


Also it seems that all AI players have the same level of tech .


Could it be that AI players "share" the research ?

I think Lord KiRon meant that when one AI Race completes a research project all of the AI races are being awarded the breakthrough, rather than simple diplomatic trading.

the latest update seems to have fixed it up.
