Well Im almost ashamed to say that the only UK Games Mag I can find that has reviewed GC2 is 'PCZone' (probably slightly bigger circ than PC Gamer over here?) and it gave GC2 60%! was this not officially implemented as Stardock didn't think there would be a desire for hot seat MP? If not, one has to wonder why it was not delivered as a polished implementation as it does not breat their ideals of compromising the AI - unless they are of course concerned that the AI is balanced and optomised for one human player? I think there is something in the logistics idea perhaps as an option?. The notion that it will just cause a rush down the logistics tree is not quite right as you will need to conduct related research, earn cash, develop pop, build science and research centres and boost economy to afford it. A B or C, this game would make a great BMEM option but ts fine as it is. I dont agree with the arguments that giving a PBEM would mess up the single game - why would it?, keep the excellent AI but allow 2 or more wetwares to play it and spend $1/2mill on the PMEM code, they can afford it now

Cari - campaign game, non meta I think. Boogie - sounds like the issue right there, I slammed 3 sensors on the ship originally then went back to upgrade and the plan was to remove two of em' and use the space for a nice new shield. S eems prety major to me, crashed game and locked pc causing hard restart. I hit the 'upgrade' button having selected a design template (one of my own) from the SHIPBUILDING screen (i.e. not from the ship itself) and then proceeded to have a merry dance with removing items, scanners kept reapearing and disapearing as i tried to remove them. nice report. Well done John, and well done the guys and galls at Stardock - I beta tested GC1 extensively and I agree this is a major cut above, great progress and if quality does get its rewards (it doesn't always) GC2 should establish Stardock, but particulary Brad and his merry band as top flight games developers ( they are top flight im many other respects of GUI development etc of course). Playing Beta 0.8x, something I have oft felt was wrong ws the ease of puying some majr advanced tech in bulk from minor races. Most of my tech advances seem to come from doing the easy stuff well (making money) , and then buying tech cheap and in bulk from minor races. I wonder if the main AI does this as well? Im getting some pretty unpleasant freezes during what seems end turn processing. The game locks up (either with or without cursor control, I have had both), there is no HD activity. Sometimes the 'saving game' message is hung on the screen, other times I am guessing its locked up at the end turn. Are old saved games compatible with Beta 5? I have noticed that the sound effects slider in Options either isn't working or is scaled wrong so that as you increase effects the bar doesn't move noticeably.

yes I would support all of these comments. In Galciv and Sid Mier's Civ series I always tend to play epic slow burners and like to get myself established in my corner of the 'verse before we ll established races start slugging it out. So far I don;t get this feel and it WAS possible in this in GC1. I may have to drop a few players and change the star scatter - any ideas what is the closest way to approximate this dynamic anyone?

Anyone know if there is a thread or an article on ship design paths? I have been playing for a week or so now, and can I heck get my head around achieving larger ships, I can't work out what tech's to develop to switch on Cruisers, Frigates etc - I have tried to follow the "two techs left" etc concept but I never ever seem to get there - i am clearly missing something - can someone help me out? :NOTSURE:

I managed to create a saved game without entering a name (couldn't see the text input line) whi8ch was auto named "New saved Game". This was about 40 or so turns into a Huge game with all races. The saved game doesnt load (have left it hanging on load screen for half hour or so) but looking at control pannel GalCiv2 is not responding. I am going to create a saved game in a sec and name it and load it with the same game set up to see if its a general problem or a file naming issue...<b

Game regulary locks up and stops responding as soon as I select Upgrade for existing ships and then click on a componet from the list on the left - still looking for a pattern. The upgrade system is either not working correctly or is illogical or i'm dim as I can't seem to get a workable upgraded ship sorted out.
