I have been playing the campaign recently, and yes, you must research or trade for those technologies. Try trading for them first. There's a very good chance that the Altarans already have them. This is good training for sandbox mode anyways, as any decent wars cannot be fought without that technology.

There is actually talk of a new Wasteland.
25! Wow! I may have to seriously think about which to actually use as major races in my mod. I could actually make two mods out of it if I wanted to.
Yes, this is pretty much standard on many games.
The Madrab Conglomerate: History: The Rabbit-like Madrab kill all their predators and over-ran their home planet many millenia ago. All other animal life died off, unable to compete with their sheer number, and the pollutants and problems they introduced. Nothing else is known about their history until modern times, as the Madrab don't keep track of history and much of it is the same anyway.
Not for now. I have no talent whatsoever in that area. If some who does wishes to do it, they are welcome to do so.
Androgon Syndicate History: As more trade and commerce went into the stars, it was only inevitable that crime would follow. Space pirates appeared among every race. While some continued to act independently, others began gathering together into organized crime syndicates. The most powerful of these was the Androgen Syndicate, named after the planet of a minor race who tolerated illega
You've got a scenario selected.
Where did you get the idea that 2 races were gotten rid of?? Not true. Yes, it is true. In the storyline at least. Not having played through the campaign, I really can't tell you which two races it is. It doesn't effect gameplay, as those two races as still playable in Sandbox mode, which is probably why drrider didn't think it was true.
Next up: The Forgoy Sanctuary History The Forgoy have alway been a peaceful race, strong believers in their various, yet peaceful, religions and seekers of spirituality. For many thousands of years of their history, however, their civilization did not dominate their planet. Instead, they were still prey for numerous predators. Somewhere during Earth's 12th century, a lone tribe began to show ag
And a preview of the first race: The United Terran Empire. History: By the late twenty-first century, the war and terrorism that had risen in the late twentieth century had left most of the world's most powerful countries in shambles. Governments had broken down, and what little power was left was vested in individual cities and in the thug-like remnants of former armies. Can
With Formis6's permission, I am working on a mod which will replace all regular races with new ones based on his excellent race graphics, among other things. This mod will not be released until there are at least enough done to replace all the original ones--but it looks like he'll be there before too long anyway. In the meantime I'm already working on it. Watch this thread for more info on the mod, its backstory, and its races. The basic story behind the mod is a huge war, involving
Why not? This would make it more of a full mod, but that's fine. I definitely like having a bunch of new styles to use. If nothing else, they'd be good for custom races.
Ion Drive and some of the other drive tech, universal translator, then whatever I feel like I need at the time. Really, it ends up completely different every time.
Anyone who has real strong feeling about what your requests should be like in game, or who would rather them not be in my mod at all, please pm me.
I am starting on that mod I mentioned. Three races are in the game working so far. I'll start posting pictures and history on another thread. The more neat race graphics get made (all as you have time, mind you) the better it will look. I also have a few other plans for it other than just replacing the races. . .
I've seen both Econ and Influence Starbases. Military not at all, but then again, I don't use them either.
In fact, the majority has often been proven to be wrong, usually in cases when they insists that there is no debate and the matter is settled. As a matter of fact, it is in the nature of science that no matter is EVER settled, and there is always a debate. Anytime scientists say otherwise, it is a bad thing, whether they are right or wrong. In fact, only a couple of decades ago, a young doctor was kicked out of the medical profession for insisting that stress does not cause ulcers--ba
i want citation for that before i let it by without saying something: it directly opposes what i understand to be the case (that the majority of scientists believe global warming is being caused or at least worsened by humans). And I want proof of that as well. I hear people say that the vast majority of scientist agree, and then I read many very prominent ones denying it. Some of the really big names, including state meteorologists. I'll try t
Since I combined several mods together in the default folder, I never had any trouble with it. I must say, I like it, and I enjoy more variety in the minor races. It's especially nice actually having some good minor races. I don't believe the original game had any.
Some facts to consider: Mars and Venus are also undergoing global warming at a similar rate to ours. We aren't polluting there. 80% of temperature sensors in the US used to compute land-based temperature figures are in contaminated locations, such as next to a trash burning barrel or air conditioning unit where the temperature would be artificially higher than normal. The temperature has constantly changed throughout history. Who is to say what temperature is "normal
Formis6, if you do enough of these things, I'll make a mod replacing the main races with ones based on your race animations. With your permission, of course.
I think the threat of a lawsuit would do it. Or at least a serious discussion and complaint that they are allowing illegal activity, which technically, they are. But you all are probably too nice, and likely too poor, to resort to such heavy-handed tactics. Which leaves us where we were before. I'll just lay the blame on ebay here, expecially as it looks like you guys have already made some effort along these lines, and move on.
Yes, that is what I meant, but I doubt it would be that difficult. Yes, of course, the current license holder would be the only one who could transfer, but other than that, it should be a matter of moving one entry around in the database. Then when someone came around complaining about that, they could just be told, "set up a stardock account, then contact the person you got it from and request that he transfer the licence to you." But I suppose there are other concerns that c
I still don't see, though, why you can't just make a simple way for the GCII registration to be transferable from one account to another. This would not require you to spend a lot of time and money, aside from adding the initial feature, and you'd still be supporting only the copies that you had already made money off of previously. If you don't do so, it doesn't effect me. I would not want to sell my copy anyway, but still, trying to prevent the reselling of software beyond actual so
