About the campaign

Hi im new here.

I recently got Galactic civilizations (yesterday ) and I decided to start with the campaign. I assume some people here think bad things about the campaign, but basically I just want to start learning how to play.
Now, I actually played Civilizations alot (not Galactic), and it seems pretty much the same, but I seem to have a problem: I don't know how to pass the first level of the campaign. Honestly. I viewed the tutorials but yet I can't understand how to do things, such as counquer a planet, cause right clicking on the enemy planet, well, doesn't work.

So I know this is a noobish question, but if anyone can help me, I'll appreciate it. Thanks.

Well, first things first: Are you using transports to invade? They are (to the best of my knowledge) the only ships capable of invading.

By transports, do you mean Colony ships? Becuase:
1. I can only build: scouts, constructors and colony ships.
2. Yes, I have. I broguht the colony ships to the enemy (Dragin or whatever thier name is) and right clicked on thier planet.

Colony ships can't invade. They have 'Colony Modules', so their only purpose is to found new colonies. You need a ship with 'Troop Modules' on it, the default design being the Transport.

I haven't played the campaign, but I assume you can assign research? In that case, make sure you have research 'Planetary Invasion' in the 'Galactic Warfare' branch of the tech tree. Troop modules and the pre-designed Transport class should then become available.

I should have said before that I haven't played through the campaign. There may be a specific way you are supposed to do things in the campaign that differs from a "normal" game, and if so I apologize. But in a "normal"(sandbox) game the only way to invade is to use ships with troop modules, and that's generally only transport ships.

Do you have the ability to research Planetary Invasion in the campaign game? Are there instructions to take the enemy planets in a specific way?

Colony ships aren't military transports. To build a military transport you have to research the "Planetary Invasion" tech - after you have researched "Galactic Warfare" and "Space Militarization".

I have been playing the campaign recently, and yes, you must research or trade for those technologies. Try trading for them first. There's a very good chance that the Altarans already have them. This is good training for sandbox mode anyways, as any decent wars cannot be fought without that technology.

Also, you may want to spend a little time researching up the whole branch of the tree there. The techs arn't that expenseive, time wise and they will give you additional invasion tactics. But more importantly, you will get greater soldering points which you will need since you pretty much will be vastly outnumbered. The planets you invade will have like 4 billion people (usually, but may be as high as 12 on the campain) on them and your basic transport holds 1 billion (1000 is what the screen will show when you go to launch it) Make sure the planet building the transports have enough people to fill them.

Make sure you have researched planetary invasion and a few more of the later techs.

1) find planet that has enough people to fill your specific transport.
2) Make sure planet can produce the transport fairly quikly.
3) Launch transport and fill it completely.
4) Make sure enemy planet has no fighters orbiting it.
5) Invade (send transport to planet).

you said such as... is there anything else you don't understand?

because we'd be happy to help.

As a note, you don't have to fill the transport on the planet that builds it. Just with colony ships, you can choose the number of people that will board the ship. You can then go to another panet and fill the rest. I think you only actually NEED one person to get on to launch.

What will happen is that your transport will land on your own planet and you'll have to relaunch, this time fill it to capacity since the inital number of people were temporarilly added to that planet's population.

Just don't spend time having your transports busing people around.

Thanks for your support people

So I began playing now, and I researched Galactic warfare and Space militarization, I now I see "Planetry invasion", but it says it will take 82 weeks to research. Anything I can do about it?

Assign more of your production to research using the domestic management window. Build labs as well.
