Nope, Stardock folks have stated before that it is indeed the two expansions reworked to no longer need the base game.

I believe he's already stated that he will release an expansion later that will update it to the NGE.

Galaxy class ship exists in the cannon timeline. This is based in the Star Fleet Universe timeline, which doesn't go that far anyway.
Actually, classically, the exact opposite - Disruptors were slightly less powerful, a lot less "Swiss Army Knife" useful, but cheap. I think the classic Phaser/Disruptor comparison was from DS 9 - Paraphrasing from Major Kira (IIRC) "This is the Federation Standard phaser Rifle. It has 16 power levels, 5 separate outputs, auto targetting, wide beam, and can link together with other rifles to pick targets efficiently. This is a Cardassian Disrupter Rifle. It has

Oh, yes, and I forgot to add that disruptors would replace phasors and would have slightly different stats. Say, a little more powerful and expensive than regular phasors, with slightly less room being needed.

I've been thinking about tech trees and may be able to help you there. I would suggest that you give all races all three weapons branches, whatever you rename them to. Think of the show's technology as what the races actually chose to research and the mod as what they potentially could have done. Now on to specifics. I have some suggestions for the Klingon tech tree. As was mentioned, basing it off the Drengin tree is the best bet and keeping the slave pit, p
So I guess it is just a bug with the Dread Lords add on.
Nope, it's the mega events added in DL. Mega events are meant to be super nasty and so big as to dominate the game when it takes place. Turn Mega events off in the universe creation options and you'll still have regular DA style pirates, but not the super fleets the Mega events produce.

Just poking in here to say that the screenshots of the two game are actually fairly close in quality and it is very objective. Besides, I don't think the graphics on HOMMV are turned up all the way in that picture, making it an unfair comparison.

I've seem the gameplay video. It certainly looks like they got the atmosphere right, but my first impression is, how is this Fallout? There didn't seem much left of the orginal gameplay at all. It was a first person shooter with some light RPG elements thrown in, that is all. It would be a good Fallout spinoff perhaps, but not Fallout 3. I mean that would be like making a first person shooter out of Heroes of Might and Magic and calling it HOMM6. Complete

You should also note somethign I haven't seen anyone else explicitly mention that is completely different from Civ and is very important for you to wrap your head around. In the Civ games, you just flat out make hammers, or research or whatever. In GalCiv, you buy them. This means, that when you build a factory, the factory takes money from your economy to opperate. I BC for everyone unit of production. The same is true for science. So you can't just ra

Alright, calm down folks, this wasn't all Sci-Fi's fault, the people making the show wanted to close it down so they could move on to a third StarGate series, StarGate Universe. They didn't want to make two series at once and have been waiting for Atlantis to finish up so they could move on. This is all part of their plan.
Apart from the lack of Orcs and a fantasy setting what is different about this game to any other story driven game?
Being story driven does not make it an RPG. In fact, many non-story driven games are RPGs. It also doesn't matter if you are, in your thinking, "role playing" a character or not. The term RPG refers to a specific genre, which GTA definitely is not. The keys characteristic of an rpg is a character, or characters, with evolving statistical abilities which

I think you're making a HUGE mistake only going for new, shiney looking games. Good games are still good even when old, and some of those older games may not look like you're there, but the developers had a lot more time and money to throw into the game play instead, and it shows. So yeah, the Baldur's gate games are good, as are NWN 1. I'm about to get 2 but haven't played it yet. The graphics don't look really that much better than 1, though. NWN1 still looks pretty good, IMO, and

Just so you know, Promiscious (that's not evens spelled right, but I'm too lazy to look it up) is a sexual reference, while Prometheus refers to a character to Greco-Roman mythology who aquired fire from the gods and brought it to Earth, appropriate since the Prometheus is the first starship made out of technology taken form aliens pretending to be gods and brought to Earth. Of course, in the series, only one Prometheus was ever made because the Dedalus rendered it obsolete. Those in turn are
So, basically, there is no one in this discussion who believes that digital rights should be defended? In fact, everyone here praises Stardock because they just let pirates steal from them if they want? I am confirmed in my initial belief that you are ALL pirates. I have not heard an opinion from anyone who I would assume has not and will not steal ideas.
No, no, no, you are mixing up two very different positions. Most of the people in this thread aren't defending the pi

I agree that the whole idea that piracy is directly sapping sales is in many cases, completely wrong, and is a myth perpetuated by naive companies who are stuck in old school thinking and don't understand the modern world. For one thing, when they claim how much money is lost to piracy, they assume that every download would translate into a sale otherwise. This is just plain wrong. Some people who download games simply want whatever they can get without paying for it, or they are the equivile

While I am very much against piracy, I am conerned that this might go so far, and just as with some of the things that have happened on youtube and elsewhere, people that are doing nothing wrong will be caught too, or the rules will be changed as things go along.

#1 While I haven't played this expansion, in the previous two, you could select a technology you don't have the ability to research yet, and the game will automatically research all technologies leading up to it. I'd be surprised if this had been removed. While it isn't quite what you are looking for, it's something vaguely similar.

I didn't say he said that, I (and everyone else) said that. It's obvious that they engine doesn't make that possible, hence you'd need the source code and you'd also need to heavily re-write the game. Basically you'd have to make a whole new game using a few things from the engine. That's the only way it could be done. Please take the word of everyone here who knows what we're talking about. Let me say this one more time so you can understand this. I'll try to be simple, since you

I don't see what the problem is either, although I suppose another option doesn't hurt. I, for one, rather enjoy exploiting the ability to trade something I traded for. If you act quickly, you can often turn one tech no one else has into a huge leap in technology, plus a bunch of spare cash.

There's no point in Brad's answering this thread. He's already done so in multiple other places. It's not possible to "give us the tools." He'd have to give us the source code and someone would have to re-write most of the game. There are so many reasons that either one won't happen that it's near ridiculous. If it's been done for other games, it's simply because the engine of the other games made it possible. This game has no such capability. Give up on making GalCiv2 mul

A little late, since I've known about it for weeks, but still pretty nifty. The Civ 4 engine is a good way to give it a much-needed update and make it a modern game. I'm hoping they'll try something similar with Alpha Centauri next, especially if this update sells well.
