I'm automatically auto-subscribed to any reply I make, even though I have that feature deselected in my profile. Evidently, it works for some people as indicated in the following thread... https://forums.galciv3.com/467117/page/1/ Also, if I try to navigate to the Forums Issues area (this area) from the GalCiv3 site, it says "Forums Go Boom". I can navigate here from the GalCiv2 forums tho

I'll check to make sure it's disabled when I get home. I seem to remember disabling it when I put 8.1 on, but it doesn't hurt to double check. +1 karma to you and to redneckdude for his tip.
Thanks for following up, seadart. We don't get that very often and it helps to have feedback. +1 karma added to your profile. :)
Nice. There's no telling what good can come out of this type of technology. I seem to recall MS trying to limit the Kinect's uses in the beginning when people were using it to create 3-D art. It's good that they appear to have backed down from that stance.
Hi seadart. The game is trying to run full screen at 1024 x 768 and your first display is at 1366 x 768. The resolutions should be equal if you're going to run full screen. You have a few options. You can set your screen resolution to 1024 x 768, change the game's display to windowed or change the game's resolution to match your display. I've found that it's easiest to run the game in windowed mode. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the tips, Island Dog! [e digicons]k1[/e]

It seems that HP agrees that the Win8 UI is problematic. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2089403/ouch-hp-brings-windows-7-back-by-popular-demand.html Sure, MS is rumored to be perhaps thinking about maybe bringing the start button back. I wonder if this might open their eyes a bit. :)

A tad slow in the beginning, but that's pretty normal for a 4x game. I should be able to waste quite a few hours on it.

Pit dogs is a fairly recent brutalistic 'sport'...so the animals bred for it won't necessarily date back to the dark ages....and nor will stats. I wouldn't go as far as Jafo, but pit bulls and kids are a bad mix. Kids > dogs, so the dog would have to go. There's too much evidence that pits can turn on kids. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against pit bulls. We have two, but we also don't have any kids in the house. When we have company over, we put the dogs in the back yard and lock the doggie door. If the dog has snapped and growled at you and your children, it r

There was a good amount of hype and expectations when MS announced that they'd bring the start button back in 8.1. It was such a disappointment. Windows 7 was a de-kludged Vista... the point is that what's really missing from W8/8.1 is the "windows for apps", being able to work side-by-side and the functional start menu. That is W8 + Start8 and ModernMix equivalents. You can call that W8 SP2, or W8.1 SP2, or Windows 9. The semantics are immaterial. At least I'm defining what it
