Seems to be fine for me, Boogie. Can we make some way to steal techs without attacking an improvement? Even if I had to "burn" a spy, but if I do I need to be able to pick a tech, not have one pulled out of a hat. If I get laser I for a spy burn when I'm researching Beyond Mortality, items will be thrown.

Even our beloved GalCiv (currently) suffers from the Alt-Tab issue, but at least I can solve that with windowed mode. And I agree with the poster up there... I MUST BE ABLE TO CUSTOMIZE ALL THE THINGS IN A PC GAME. That means: Redefining EVERY SINGLE BLOODY KEY. If it does something for gameplay I MUST BE ABLE TO REMAP IT. It also means: EVERY MAIN FILEPATH. EVERY SINGLE ONE. That includes QUICKSAVES. Why? Some of us keep our moving data, like saves,
Spore is, as Phazon says, a totally casual game. I play it while talking on vent with my friends, it makes good downtime from WAR online or FPS games. If you were expecting the next soul/time eating mega-twitch game from MAXIS and WILL WRIGHT, you really should have known better. This game is pretty much The Sims 2 with creatures instead of people. It did get much better with the recent patch for Space, now there's more actual playing time and less time spent
Friday night and into stupid-early hours was Warhammer Online - which is still great. Got my Disciple of Khaine into tier two PvP, got my butt kicked soundly, but at least I had fun doing it. All day Saturday was spent trying not to die to the AI in Twilight of the Arnor. I'm really out of practice, the new and improved AI really has been doing a number on me. I had to dial it back to Tough. :D That is awesome, because they're still putting up a good fight on the lev
That's why the first periphral you buy is the Classic Controller. It's awesome for Smash Brothers.
The wii makes a really good second system behind a PC. The PC can handle games the consoles won't touch, the hard-thinking strategic stuff like GalCiv, Total War, Supreme Commander ; the best RPGs out there with modability (Oblivion is, and I beleive that Fallout 3 also will be, made so much better with mods.) Very deep thinky-games, time eaters. The wii balances this with games that you can waste 30 minutes on and have fun, or that when your friends are over eve
What's extra-evil about EA is that the most recent patch for Spore actually addresses some of the space-stage stagnation, but you can only get it with the EA Download Manager and a legitmate copy. Funny how anyone who playtested for EA would've noticed that Space is unplayable in the way it went gold, then very shortly after a patch that makes it playable is released, but only through thier Download Manager. Curious, if you ask me. [e digicons]>_>[/e] Ba
There does need a way to deal with alliances between two AIs. That would've been a good new use for spies - to run false-flag operations and lower standing between two civs.
I think in my next game, if I'm doing well enough to allow it, I may give a few planets to the Snathi and set them on some other minor for entertainment purposes.
When the GalCiv III area gets up, we're going to have a laundry list of insane suggestions for the SD team to pick through :D
Promised was perhaps the incorrect word, but a revamp to me is a major reworking, not a small addition (which would have flown better with the playerbase in the end, as far as what we got.) My point is not to say "we didn't get what the devs promised and they're evil bastages", just to point out that my point and serp's point is that we expected more, for whatever reason (tonage of dev notices, hearing what we wanted to hear, whatever.) I'm not in any way upset or angry,
It's an improvement - though not an utterly radical one like I wanted and I think that's Serp's point. It's superior to the one before it but I think there are a lot of us who wanted spying to be as much a part of the game as say, spaceship fights. We were promised a radical change, and some people don't feel "bringing back the old" is as radical as it was hyped up to be. Me, I appreciate SD's efforts to make us happy. You can always do more, but as you said, they
The best and (I would think) simplest idea here might be the ability to tell the AI to use some of the planetary governors at its discretion. Sometimes the AI makes REALLY horrid decisions in city planning. I *should* be getting smacked around by the Krynn except for the fact that my specialized focused factory planets are churning out ships much faster than his larger empire composed of "lets make the planets do research/influence/production/economy for each planet." Is
Yep, Random Races will pop up any custom civs you've made. Now, being MY custom race at the same time? Hmmm. That I haven't seen, but I've heard AARs where a slight change to the Terrans has made two Terran races (who then went to war.)
Windows is their primary - but not for gaming. They sell more stuff if Windows is for businesses and the Xbox is for gaming - people who do both will need both.
We still have the option of reorting to violence! [e digicons]:banhammer:[/e] *charges at download server*
Let me chime in again. To bring yet another car anaology in, let's say you're in the market for a used car. You go down to "Honest Joe's Car Megastore and Emporium." You meet Bill, your salesman. Bill points you to a 2004 Toyota Camry, with a fresh coat of paint and what appears to be a newly upholstered interior. You're allowed to take the car for a test drive - with Bill in the seat warning you not to exceed 45 because the cops in the area are Serious Busines
The tech-stealing aspect is where I'd like to see the currently worse-than-useless Espionage stat pointed to. Instead of letting me spend more money on spies, which won't be a big deal since I wont need so freakin' many, I'd like espionage to increase techsteal rates. That would make the races like Iconia very strong, allowing them to rely on spies to get thier technologies instead of the normal ways. The downside of course, is that some other race has to get them before y
It had better be, or I'm coming to get you... [e digicons]:ninja:[/e] Kidding, of course. I expect to spend the greater part of the weekend helping you *ahem* bugtest. *sends a fleet of ships out to munch on the Altarian planets*
Bahhhhhh! But I understand what you're doing and why, and I still appreciate it (despite being one who's already moved on to Impulse thanks to SoaSE) Well, another full night of WAAAGH! with Warhammer online isn't an awful consolation prize.
SDC or Impulse? I'm assuming that was a mental typo.
That gives me hope though - I'd rather download 600 megs of extras than nothing of 2.0 personally, though I'd like it to be fixed to maximum possible fixed-ness too :D
Are the betas done yet, Boogie? Or can you at least confirm/deny theIr being up tonight? A long day of work has made me very hungry for my 2.0 GalCiv immense game. [e digicons][/e]
Warhammer Online. Holy pete.
As far as I know only the Mind-Control Center and Esipionage tweaks are being backported to DA. If boogie wants to come in here and tell me I'm wrong and horrid for giving you wrong information he's welcome to. ...Especially if he comes in to tell us the patch is ready for download when I get home from work.
