I've been searching the forum but i can't seem to find answers to these so here it goes: 1. A year ago (i wasn't playing back then) people had the opinion that putting points in social production was worthless. Why was that and does that general idea still exist with version 1.6? 2a. When not building social projects on a planet, how much of your social production gets redirected to military? 2b. That redirected social production, is it based on base values or social

Forgot to point out that i've been playing with DA 1.6 beta 4.
Interesting... my last 2 games were almost only won through Super Diplomat. Both were on Tough difficulty level, 9 random AI's, large map. Both were won through a diplomatic victory, the second game i wasn't even declared war throughout the whole thing. What i do is make sure i have all 9 research treaties while i draw attention away by making sure everyone is at war with at least 2 to 3 opponents while researching all the government and diplomatic techs. As for tech trading, well, my
I also tried the all research strategy in a Tough game with 9 random AI's, very fast research and it worked pretty well, although it felt kida weird to play with -500 bc/turn for more than half the game. Sometimes i just had to switch to 100% social just to get some money and speed up the construction which felt very slow. Played with a custom race, Super Diplomat, +30% economic, +20% research, technologist party. Initially researched most diplo techs till Majesty and this really worked because
I have a problem with races as well, only not related to the metaverse. In another game i customized the Altarians. Now, when starting a new game, i chose a custom race and customized it. Then i notice that the Altarians now have the same bonus as the custom race i just created. I tried to "Clear" the altarians to see if they would default to their initial abilies but now they have the same stats as a cleared custom race. Bottom line, i can't put them as they were initially. Will deleting the .c
Yesterday i was using this technique to populate 4 planets that we're all in range of each other. I would move 3~4b colonists from the home planet to planet 2, then from planet2 to planet 3, until i had the colonists on the last planet. At 250 million per module with only one module, i assure you it wasn't fun. What i really wonder about is, does the AI use this technique as well?
After buying a trade good from another race, it doesn't appear in the trade window but you do get the bonus from it... The real question is, is this intentional? Yes. You only get the option to give it away in the trade screen if you control the planet it's built on. Trade goods have absolutely zero effect on trade income; they exist to grant you a bonus only, and to allow you to share that bonus with other races for wha
After buying a trade good from another race, it doesn't appear in the trade window but you do get the bonus from it. I tested it with Xinathium Hull Plating by comparing ship's hit points before and after buying it. The real question is, is this intentional? And while we're at it, i have another trade goods related question. Besides the bonus i get from having the monopoly on a particular trade good, how does that affect my trading? Do my trade routes wield more bc's per turn?
From what i've learned in these great forums, a planet with that high of a PQ is a great economic planet. You can use it for research or military production but those aren't really the best directions because social/military/research are not affected by population counts. To make a military planet, you need factories and a starport. For research, you need labs. But to make an economic planet you need farms for increasing the tax base, morale structures to keep approval high and and stoc
Oh my God i feel so dumb... indeed i was trying to invade with colony ships!! As for mining fields, thanks for the info, it had to have a simple explanation.
One other thing about the relative power of each civilization... the way i see it, much of your positioning comes from military. You may appear at the bottom of the list on the GNN's reports because you have a weak military, even when you are light years ahead of the competition in industry, population and research. That's the way it usually works for me. Then i decide to finally make some ships and in 4 or 5 turns i catch up with the strongest race because i am making much more technologica
Recently bought DA and i'm playing the 2nd campaign mission right now. I am at war with the Korx, Humans and Altarians and the Korath are my allies. Problem is, i have invaded a human planet but i can't seem to invade other planets. They have no ships in orbit but my colony ships don't invade. I have the ship selected and adjacent to the planet and when i click on it, the ships updates its destination with the planet name, but it doesn't invade even if it is right next to it. This happe
Suggestions for making Espionage more strategic (glad you asked! ) Spies should not be revealed as soon as they are active. Isn't spying all about stealth? Races should have a passive chance to remove an active enemy spy and that chance should improve every turn so that eventually the spy is discovered and removed. The rate at which this chance increases should be dependant of the race's espiona
I think Clocknova's suggestions point in the right direction. Besides, i also think that the chance to remove an enemy spy should improve every turn so that eventually the spy is discovered and removed. Players said it before, there's no way one can deal with 8 civs sending spies. I am managing an empire here, must i be the one to deal with every spy?! Can't i delegate that task to the billions that live in every planet? Surely they have their own institutions to counter espionage... pl
Playing a Normal difficulty, Neutral alignment, Huge Galaxy, Very Fast Research with 9 oponents and the Drengin are my neighbors. Went immediately for trade routes and as much diplomacy as possible. A bazillion turns later and i am currently toping all of my research trees, never been attacked by anyone and most of the game i had absolutely nothing to defend myself with. Been expanding my influence all game long, getting a warning once from the Torians for placing an influence SB right in the la
I have recently purchased GC2 (no Dark Avatar for now) and i've always been used to the arrow keys for map scrolling instead of other clunky options such as edge scrolling or "grabbing the map" scrolling. I tried scrolling around with said keys but i noticed that the arrow keys are used to move ships around the metaverse. The way i see it, moving ships manually is kinda inneficient. If you want to get your ship to a certain point in the map, you click and expect the game to calculate th
