Try deleting the .customracexml files in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar to clear any customizations or changes you've made at any point.

I had this same problem last night. I was able to start a metaverse session as the Altarians. I will delete the file you listed, Kryo, and report. It won't be right away I want to finish the session I am playing first.

It didn't work for me. I was able to customize the Altarians and play. I deleted the file for my custom race and started from scratch. I assigned 15 points for race abilities, political party, techs, chose terran style ships, spent all 50 tech points by shifting techs, added my custom portrait and race logo. I got the bad metaverse message, but this time it, when I marked no it shifted my race portrait to the Altarian male from GCII.

I have a problem with races as well, only not related to the metaverse. In another game i customized the Altarians. Now, when starting a new game, i chose a custom race and customized it. Then i notice that the Altarians now have the same bonus as the custom race i just created. I tried to "Clear" the altarians to see if they would default to their initial abilies but now they have the same stats as a cleared custom race. Bottom line, i can't put them as they were initially. Will deleting the .customracexml file solve this?

Another weird thing happened with races. Whenever i customize an existing race (change portrait to that grid custom face, logo, bonus), i save it so i can use than customization later. What i have noticed is that when creating a game with random opponents, sometimes these customized races are my opponents. For example, before starting a game with customized Humans, i save that as "Solaris Corporation Human". After that game, i do the same thing for Korx. Then when i start the game, i notice that one of my opponents is "Solaris Corporation Human". What i want is to be able to save these customizations but i really do not want to fight them. Why not have a Default button next to the Clear button that will change races to their default abilities?

If you delete the file listed by Kryo above, The Altarians in your game will be rset to normal, however you will lose the customization.

As for the other stuff I'm not sure. Every race you create is saved and available for the computer to pick when you choose random races.

Don't worry sooner or later someone will post the solution. KRYO! HELP!

That will clear all changes to the races unless you're using mods or have changed the RaceConfig.cml file directly.

At the moment there's no way to restrict a race from being used for random opponent selection; any core race or those defined in your customracexml files are fair game.

What exactly was the option you were prompted with that you answered No to?

Oh! (I was playing DA 1.5. I have updated to 1.59) I deleted the oreans.customracexml file and started the process over. I can't remember the exact spot in the process. I think Little robot man popped up and warned me that the custom race was invalid and that the game would not count right after I clicked next on the race screen, and before I choose my opponents. He asked if I wanted to proceed and I clicked no (you know the invalid custom race cheat warning thing...right, all clear now, I'm sure you love it when players are this specific). After I marked no it went back to the race screen and the portrait shifted from the protrait I created (the cute fellow you see as my avatar) to the Altarian from GCII DL.

Hmm. I just thought of something. I only deleted one file. Should I have deleted all the *.customracexml files? I had one in there for Terran, Drengin and Altarian.

Hey! Aren't you at work? Why are you playing around on these forums?

I started a new Metaverse game last night after the installation of 1.59. The issue is resolved.
