I will stand corrected since my post #41 i have played several games and I do see an occassional flip from an opposing ai.....not a lot, certainly less than before mcc....but yes, i saw some in the ensuing games. Question is, did they fix it in some way? but its moot...you can flip afterwards....

drrider, Thanks so much....I act like I have so much time to play this....its the only game i play but when i get home from work and do the duties, about an hour or two is all i can devote...so I'm thrilled to finish a game now and then.....time I finish one, they have a new release....so I'll just relish the thought of all those bonuses and live vicariously through your posts....but that offer got you out of the slave pit....you might be my head researcher....playing korath, i'm not sure th

I'm sorry....I'd really like to see more of an explanation as to why this needs to be nerfed? You say there are too many of them and they need to be nerfed. Then someone draws up his opinion of how they should be respawned and suddenly that is the correct amount. Why is the current amount too much? Who is benefiting by the too much? The AI or the player? If you consider it money supply and all the players have access to it, the competitive difference can't be considerable.

I donno, I was thinking he might be fodder for the slave pit....he said he never noticed it published before....well maybe we didn't want it nerfed...lmao. I wished I could have played a couple games of precursor of fortune before it got "fixed".

First off, WOW...its like playing a whole new game...with everything to relearn. Very Nice. I am playing as the Korath....and it seems there isn't a way to improve on a starbase beyond a very basic level. Maybe that's compensation for the amazing productivity, but if it isn't an intended nerf, then it needs to be added...if it is an intended nerf, there will be no benefit really to adding military-social starbases, and limited results from resource mining.... Getting these tr

Good to see you here more often Wyndstar, your sage advice has been missed. Word is my dolphons will lose 10 this season. Or is it Wayne's dolphins...certainly not mine....

I'm just stunned as usual with some of the comments that are made on here. It seems to go in cycles...with Brad terminating the cycles. I read the posts about the terrible effect of 1.8 at work on Friday. Then on Saturday, I loaded up 1.8-A and smiled to myself that they had already addressed it. I played all weekend and enjoyed it. It was different to be sure...but the whole concept of the game is different - its a strategy game with no set required number of planets to play. If 1.8a was

yes, i hate it when i use a transport and don't get the planet....it costs more than a spore with the lost tax revenue....and i still don't get the planet...spore when you have to kill every ....... that was a great by-line by a player that posted here for some time...havent seen him in ages... but anyrate...sporing is the way to go...if you want to win by conquer at least...then you can ferry people via colony ships.....much better....

This is good stuff...I assume the passive ai bug that frogboy said was fixed is in this release? I almost feel obligated to start my game over rather than continue it out if its fixed....

It isn't a cntrl n issue....my game didn't have that...it is assuredly a beta 4, because i'm playing my first complete game on beta 4....and again (as the above have said), it is a very weak responding ai that i'm up against. It declared war on me but just won't muster the ships to really do any battle with me....a single escort with a troop carrier against a medium hull....very puny ships and very few of them.

Kazu, everything above is dead on....but to help you understand, on your colony screen...when you click on a planet...you will see a box with three lines...they show your income and expenses and you can see how far on a planet you are in the hole. Everytime you add a colony you add expenses but very little income and you can see this on the colony screen. Hope that helps.

Shucks, I just thought I was that good...fell into the trap. I'm in a tough game and while the krynn declared war on me even though relations were no worse than cool, and I'd just talked him into a war with the arceans. When I was able to reasearch some military tech and build a ship or two, i discovered all they had were weak little ships. But they are way behind on research so they couldn't deploy much. So I'm questioning how far down the ai is...wonder if its bypassing the ai hardness set

yes, its expensive in rp to get to the equivalent damage factor of the psyionic weapons, whether beam, missle or shredders..... certainly for me a large part of the fun of the game is to play the other races so that you can learn what works for them. Its very different. I'm with Stanley, spore seems to really work for me....so much better than having to build transports...you just build up a nice inventory of spores and then start working on the transports once you declare...the spore

Supergeek, I never exit the game...ok, hardley ever. I auto save every turn and when the going get tough and I don't want to lose anything i save to a named file that i rotate. But, since beta 4 i haven't had a bad save. But I play only large maps. SO, it appears its still a memory issue for larger maps and the accumulative effect of long play has at least been mitigated. I hate to see flames too....fortunately, there aren't many of them....

Psyionic Beams - Atk 12 Psyionic Missle - Atk 6 Beam is researched after phasor 1 i believe Missle is researched after harpoon III Both very cost and space efficient for the attack value. I think someone did an analysis showing the beam was more efficient...but I'm a missle guy...Harpoon is a lvl 3 missle...so this is quite a jump in power. The missle is expensive i guess...but when you destroy all the ships you come up against....who cares?

and i think translations into all the foreign languages impacts their abilities to do this....it would be nice if GCII could be better than this game in that way or another game in another way, but bottom line is, its fun with its limitations.

I think, to minimize your frustration with losing all the time, your best bet is to lower the difficulty till you can win. The more you play, the better you get, generally. By all means, read the posts on this forum, they are tremendously helpful. Also read the AAR's. They give great strategy tips. Again...as stated above...there isn't a key to winning at this. Its a strategy game and as such, it requires you to use strategy.

Someone, I beleive it was Wyndstar, did an analysis of farm/morale/tax income/economic structures. It was relevant to making sure every tile is maximized for production. But usually, i use farm on the 5.85 planet assuming its pq >10. I hate doing it on lower quality planets because morale becomes a factor on these planets. I never ever put any kind of farm on my homeworld. 16 is plenty pop for me and regenerates plenty fast for my colony phase, and plenty face for troop transports w

Once you understand how it works, it doesnt to me seem to make much difference which way its done. You just have to use the game mechanics the way they are employed. Using the rules the first way, and using the rules the second way (Stacked Fleets vs Individual Ships Stacked)certainly changed the way I played, but I adapted. It wasn't a detriment to the game, just made it different. I dont see the benefit in using fleets other than its easier to move them around vis-a-vis individual

I'm soo glad I don't have to work support for this product....with soooo very many products out there. I would recommend you update to the latest beta...1.7-3. It is very stable from all accounts and then you'll be on the product that most of the DA players are playing on. Somewhere along the line, DA went from Fleet to individual ships in a group. The game when i first installed it played exactly like the manual. But it got updated and now, well, combat doesn't work the same. My f
