Considering I use cheat codes anyway, and I can just do a key stroke to get all possible technology, how about this... Instead of having to make a mod for each individual race, is there a way to make this 'IMPOSSIBLE TECH' be made for all races, yet take like a few billion years to complete? That way, the enemy races will have a snowballs chance in Hell of ever getting it and I can have all that infinite part goodness to myself : P Thanks for your patience and input Kryo.

Interesting. Going to be a pain to have to make a MOD for each race for it to work, but if it does indeed work, it's something I am willing to do. Thanks for the help again Kryo. I'll keep you posted how it turns out.
I've always referred to this online MODing Guide which helped me greatly when I created my first unlimited ship parts MODs, before realizing that all races were able to use it as well... https://www.galciv2.com/mods/gc2modsdoc.htm Still, I am confused on how to proceed to make a custom tech level that will allow me to access negative-sizemodded parts like you suggested. The idea makes sense to me; I could make either A) a final part of the logistics tree that gave this option
Now I know as I have done it before that I can make every weapon and ship part cost only 1 point and make the hulls say they have 10,000 points or something......letting you create uber ships of unparalleled power by editing that one base file via NotePad. However, as fun as the idea sounded when I began, the down side is that the other races I face can use the same part limiits as well.....making hordid looking ships with say 40 engines and 20 Doom Rays and so forth scattered all ove
Thanks Kryo! Thankfully, I was able to figure out after trying to understand what the guide was saying how to go in and manually set the parts and hull types the specs I was looking for. Diving into this little bit of MODing and reading over Cari's great guide, I am now going to look into deeper Moding...see how to create my own unique empires to face off against in the game. Thanks for y
Sadly I have no experiance with GC II modding what so ever, so I am unsure how to do what you just suggested Kryo I know it would be a pain and a lot to ask of you, but can you either reply to this post a step-by-step way of doing this...or even alter the files yourselves and send them to me via a PM? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Below is a link to a website where you can download a MOD that allows you to have practically unlimited amounts of parts on your ships, making it a cheaters greatest dream. http://www.cheathappens.com/show_download.asp?ID=21221 However, the change done to the GC2Type file in the English Folder for some reason removes access to the special edition ship hulls and parts that were made available in the v1.4 patch. I'm therefore sending a MODer SOS for someone out
Hmmmmm. I can't see any difference really. It all looks like the same stuff I've always had with patch or unlocker otherwise. Nothing really new jumps out at me. Think I'm gong to do this, just to be sure... 1) Uninstall GC II 2) Re-install it 3) Download the patch again 4) Use the unlocker again Anyone think this should do the trick? And also, before I do this...can anyone pin-point a certain ship hull/decoration piece that's considered a "special edition
I've downloaded the 'Bonus Pack' and 'Collectors Edition Unlocker' thing, but I don't see any apparent change. The HULLs that are there I am pretty sure were the ones I've always had and same for the parts and icons. Do I need to have this Stardock Central program or something on my machine, along with the recent patches, to get the special edition content to fully load? I have all but the Stardock thingy.
Hey all, I've had the normal version of the game for a while now, but wondering if it's worth going out to order the Special Edition. How many new parts/hulls do you really get? Anyone got screenies or feelings about them? And when's the expansion coming out...or is it out?
I think the development team has to to consider the following as the issue.... Alliances = Bugged! Whatever number they used to tweak Alliances to becoming more difficult is obviously WAY TOO HIGH! I understand the issue is that if an Alliance Victory is too easy a way to score a victory in the Metaverse, then either ditch it as a victory option or make it like reduce your score by half or something. I don't care about my Metaverse rating or whatever in the least
I too would reeeeeeally like to know the concrete time-table or method to get an Alliance going, or what truly does/doesn't work. With cheat codes you can bribe them till they burst, and they still won't call you an ally. You can give them just a bit, or nothing, and still no ally. Only way to have fun with having another race fightining alongside you is to start the game as TEAM, which isn't any fun if you want to change alleigances during the game or turn and fire on your buddy : P
