Yep, that's what I do. I also never research the techs. I put most of my research into diplomacy, so I can get better deals from the AI. Thats how I get most of my tech, as well as money.

Yeah, I know. I'm loving the beta for exactly that reason!
Mine is a BFG and IIRC I got my driver directly from them. Which they got directly from Nvidia
oops, my bad
More options the better, IMHO.
Another interesting possible dynamic for super hive: Make other buildings (non-factories) take twice as long to produce.
When I installed the game (both Galciv 2 and DA) I had to change the resolution in the games config file to my native monitor res (1680x1050) or the game wouldn't load. You might want to try the same thing. The config file is located in: My documents\My games\GalCiv 2\prefs.cfg If that doesen't work, try turning fullscreen off, also in the config file.
I for one am against any concessions made simply for the sake of new players, I've seen way too many games ruined by being 'dumbed down for the newbs'. I find that more often than not, 4x games are ruined by designers adding every little feature they think is 'kind of cool' and bogging the game down to a crawl for the player. I do agree that in a
You can get onto IRC directly through Stardock Central, nothing else is required.
What I said is that hotseat should be easy to add *when or if* multiplayer functionality is completed. In other words, if you're going to add multiplayer, it makes little sense not to include hotseat as well.
Are you sure that he didn't mean that when they do MP, they won't *just* add hotseat? If you can get MP done, the hotseat part is easy to add, and IMO can be much funner than a normal mutiplayer game if you have the right people playing.
MP might one day happen. Hotseat never, ever will. Where did you hear that?
While you do make a good point, but most people who buy DA will have already played Galciv 2.
Right now it seems to depend upon what size of galaxy you play on. The smaller the galaxy the bigger advantage for Super Adaptable. But on larger galaxies there are a lot of planets to go around, so you can make do just colonizing habitable worlds until you do the research for hostile enviroments. At least, that seems to be my experience.
Getting back to the original topic (nudge: Marc, Storm), I think that Galciv 2 probably has a chance to win a few strategy GOTY's and maybe even a PC GOTY, but I would be surprised if a major publication gave Galciv 2 overall game of the year; what with all of the next-gen console hype. At the very least though, Galciv 2 should get some mentioning in a lot of articles, and that should help draw more attention to the game and to Stardock. I wouldn't be surprised if Stardock's u
No problem, enjoy your game
Nice post! I think you made Super Adaptable too weak though. What if Super Adaptable was also immune to spore ships? Could add an interesting dynamic. Also, is there any plans to give races with no Super Abilities some extra points or something?
No I didn't. Go find that rule and quote it. Check out Forum Behavior If you don't want to get on IRC, you can also click my name on one of my p
Jeff, please try to be a bit more tactful if you're going to rebuke people. If you can't be tactful, contact one of the moderators via e-mail or IRC. Perhaps a 'report post' function is in order. I can't see many people going onto IRC just to talk to moderators. You are right though. I should have known that a rebuke would be ineffectiv
You're just making an ass of yourself now. If you were on my forum, you'd have a temp ban right now. In any case, I'm sure the mods will see this thread and do with you what they will. They do not need my help in the matter.
Get a grip, kid.
I have never heard of a monitor that didn't support a standard 60Hz refresh rate.
Yup. Missile launchers would be more realistic, as well as a sattelite defense system.
Try turning off fullscreen in the preferences and see what happens.
Go into: My document\My games\GalCiv2 open the file prefs.cfg change DisplayWidth=x DisplayHeight=x to DisplayWidth=1024 DisplayHeight=768 See if that works.
