Ok, sounds cool, I'll give my support and say that I would like to see scenarios make their way into the metaverse.

Also, in order to use the quote function first highlight the text you want to quote, and then press quote. At first it seems confusing, but it's really the best way of doing quotes that I've seen.

Some of my OWN turns are so long that I can't imagine me tolerating it! In my last gigantic galaxy game (probably my last gigantic game for a long time), I could barely get in two turns a night once I started a-conquerin'. That's the other thing about metaverse. It makes micromanagement a lot less painful. If we were just playing single player, w

You'll find some interesting dynamics here. First, understand that each ship can only damage one ship per turn. So, if you have a huge hulled ship that does 200 damage vs. 4 tiny hulls with 14 hit points each, the huge hulled ship will only be able to inflict a maximum of 14 out of 200 points of damage per turn. However, if a tiny and huge hulled ships have the same components, you'll have them both costing around the same, but the huge hulls will have several times more hit po

It's really weird, a week ago I would have been really gung-ho about having real multiplayer in Galciv. However, now I have played in the metaverse, and I've came to love it. There's just this kind of... community building that isn't existent in multiplayer titles. It's also a lot easier than playing multiplayer against another human, you don't need to wait for them to end their turns, and you don't need to worry about people dropping out of games. The ranking system is really fun, and breeds co

We all need a reminder every now and then to watch our behaviour on a forum. Completely true. Even the best of us will sometimes lose our cool. There is no such thing as a perfect forum poster.

I am confused as to why this topic is even being discussed? The point of the thread was to point out a bug; not to make an argument for arming star bases.

Nice Idea. Probably would go over a bit better if you would have named the thread "Support ships" however. Yeah, but he would never have gotten this many replies so fast!

I think it's actually a pretty good idea too, but again, what he's describing is actually a support or possibly a command ship, not a carrier.

Controlling one ship would add more of an 'arcade' aspect to battles. Being able to control the fleet would add strategic depth. When I first started playing, I too wished to control my fleets. But, I actually kind of like it's implemented. Kind of forces you to look at the bigger picture instead of relying on knowledge of the combat engine to win. Think like chess, if each player rolled a die, or did some kind of mini-game each time a piece tried to attack, you would be takin

Sounds more like a support ship than a carrier anyway.

Well that explains a lot! On my last game I had the got the lowest amount of military points out of all the races, because I stockpiled my money and bought a whole bunch of ships at the very end of the game and wiped everyone out in a couple of turns. It seems that my strategy is good for winning, but not so much for scoring points. One last question, do you think it would be worthwhile to conquer all but one planet of the galaxy, develop my newly conquered planets, and then t

As far as cranking I can average 1 a week inport and 2 to 3 underway. My profile will get erradic though as I can only submit them while inport. I can crank out a suicidal tiny galaxy victory in about three hours, hoping to eventually get that down to somewhere between 1 and 2. I do need help with maximizing my score though. Is there any guide ou

Wow, just had a look at his stats. His gradual rise in points per game is very impressive.

FC for example is a monster at being able to crank out games in a relatively short time but most of his games scored in the mid range Excuse my ignorance as I've only been here a month, but who's FC?

I wanted to give a congrats to Jeff Graw for completing his first Metaverse game with us, and I wanted to give a congrats to everyone who helped our score move up another 100,000 points. Thank you very much. You can make that two now

Now, I'll be the first to admit that a tech victory is kind of cheap, but I think I've learned enough about the AI in order to go for a conquest victory next game. If not next game, then the one after that. Diving in head first is definitely the best way to learn. Yay, I just finished my first suicidal conquest victory <img src="http://image

The one point about this is that you can't save a game in the middle of a turn. Hopefully with my new PC on the way my turns won't take as long as they used to, but I have had many turns that have taken 2 hours. Wow, you're hard core. I absolutely *hate* micromanagement. That's why I stick to tiny or small galaxies. Sure, you can't get as high of

Why restrict this to the metaverse? This should be a feature of every game. Yeah, I agree. because couldn't someone always copy the autosave file to somewhere else and then copy it back if a decision went bad

26 Replies 19,480 Views

Ok, here's an idea for the metaverse that could make things a lot more interesting. What if we included an iron man game mode. The game would be auto-saved at the end of each turn, but normal saving wouldn't be permitted, and no previous auto-save would be available. In this way you can make it so that the player can't reload, and has to deal with the consequences of a bad decision of a surprise attack. Of course, there would also be a significant score bonus to people who played iron m
