1. Get a supply of chips and drinks. 2. Phone in sick. 3. Notify family and friends you will be out of contact for the next 7 days.

When you're first browsing through the potential opponents, they seem to display the same Special Ability as the previous race selected. It doesn't display the correct Special Ability until they are Enabled to be an opponent.
Regarding original post, I did find it a bit surprising that I could build a colony ship, park it next to a planet I didn't have the tech for yet halfway across the galaxy, and then colonize it after the tech was researched. It should be necessary to at least upgrade the colony ship to the proper tech before it can colonize.
I don't think Dark Avatar games are being allowed on Metaverse while it's still under beta. Also, if you're the originator of a thread, it appears that you can't edit that initial post.
An imaging program that can save in .png format is essential, and make sure the program can work with layers, it will make the creation of the logo that much easier. Photoshop's one, I use Paint Shop Pro (less expensive), and I'm sure there are others available out there you can probably get as freeware or shareware.
guess I was afraid of turning into a head case like Tom Cruise. (Visualizes Mumblefratz jumping up and down on Oprah's couch.)
I don't mind AI that vicious in game, if I were to have the option to turn it off. If Brad gets carried away, the AI might turn itself back on after you turn it off.
Paint Shop Pro is currently owned by Corel, and you can order it from their website. You also may find it at Best Buy, Fry's, etc., and sometimes earlier versions (I have version 7) can be found in software bundles. I haven't dl'd any of the mods from here yet, so can't give you advice there.
Did you check the Save Ships to Hard Drive box in the Options menu?
...I think it should be possible to slowly move these at great expense, perhaps requiring some new tech or new type of ship to accomplish this. One way could be through a 'maneuvering thrusters' module that could be installed, giving the base a velocity of 1 pc/week. In the pilot for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the space station orginally orbite
The show goes very well with marijuana. I have to add that any Three Stooges short with Curly is also a mind bending experience while under the influence. For starters, I'd recommend "You Nazty Spy!", which was Moe's personal favorite.
We can theorize that the rocking motion is a result of misaligned station-keeping thrusters attempting to stabilize the vessel.
Some regulars seem to purposely get off on attacking 'newbies' or anyone else they feel have offered an idea or an opinion they don't personally agree with. Why? Because sometimes people have a need to feel that only their ideas are valid, and all other opinions are wrong. This isn't in reference to anyone specifically here, just my observation
OK thanks, I see what I missed-- I forgot to add the "RaceImage_" prefix before the alien's name. EDIT: Here's what she looks like in the footage, she was done in Poser. Believe it or not, this is the "happy" attitude.
I've done a search and can't find anything specific on the steps required to make a custom movie playable in the game. I've already done a test by getting the RAD Tools and using the Bink coverter on an animation I made for a custom race, and it successfully made a video from it. However, even though I tried to name the movie in the same filename format with official films, using the custom race's name, I'm still only seeing the still image I originally created for the race dur
If I wanted to make animated video for the diplomatic discussions, what format would they need to be in? Normally I generate animations in .mov or .avi format, but I suspect I may need some sort of bink converter.
I've started making custom logos and portraits with Paint Shop Pro, and it gets rather addictive after a while. Get yourself some specialty fonts (if you don't already have them) like Klingon alphabet, Romulan, etc., and you'll get some nice abstract symbols you can use for your custom race. Here's a site I just now found that has fonts from Star Trek, Babylon 5, and various sci-fi films. I've tried a few, and they look ok, but not all of them have a full alphabet. <a href="h
OK thanks, I moved the folders I had into the Gfx folder and it's working now.
I tried copying over my custom portraits and logos from DreadLords into the My Documents/My Games/GC2DarkAvatar subdirectory, but they aren't appearing. Do I have them in the wrong place, or is DA not yet coded to recognize them?
And make sure the email from Stardock didn't automatically go to your Junk folder, that happened in my case and I had to correct the status for the sender.
I've moderated at other forums that use a tally of posts to designate 'forum ranks'. There are a lot of people who seem concerned with just getting their post count high so they can think they're L337 or whatever, with no regard for whether their posts add anything relevant to a discussion. It's sort of the same with the medal displays for some people I think.
Yes, thanks, I'm trying out my first game now with a custom alien race as one of the opponents. I like the wider range of ship designs (the automobile inspired hulls are great), still trying to figure out all the new potential strategies with mining, habitable planet research, etc. Seems the first Major race I encountered was my custom design, so we'll see how that goes.
I'm downloading Dark Avatar now. Will it create a separate directory from my GC2 install, or does it overwrite the existing files?
Ok, I'll do that. Still waiting to hear from Sales regarding the email mixup on my Dark Avatar order too. Edit: So far, the reloaded autosaved game is running without incident. Last night's bomb may have just been a glitch; I'd run several other programs before starting the game, and hadn't done a warmstart in hours. Edit #2: My thanks to Kim in sales for straightening out my Dark Avatar problem.
Everything seemed to be going well, and then in the middle of a turn she went belly up. I had about 13 worlds, and there weren't any unusual delays between turns. I hadn't made any manual saves after beginning the Metaverse session. Debug Message: Version v1.4x last updated on: Mon Oct 23 17:43:56 2006 Debug Message: GalCiv2 is activated.
