It might be nice to see a mod based on Roger Corman's "Battle Beyond the Stars", which has several alien races featured. Any scifi movie where the spaceship's breasts are almost as big as Sybil Danning's has at least two things going for it.

Why are folks to lazy to even bother reading about a game before they buy it? Seems akin to buying a Batman comic and then complaining that Wolverine isn't in it.
You start up the game, the AI takes over your speech synthesizer and says: "This is the voice of world control. I bring you peace. It may be the peace of plenty and content or the peace of unburied dead. The choice is yours: Obey me and live, or disobey and die...We can coexist, but only on my terms. You will say you lose your freedom. Freedom is an illusion. All you lose is the emotion of pride. To be dominated by me is not as bad for humankind as to be dominated by others of your spec
You mean you could (if you were so inclined) have your planet lights spell out "All your base are belong to us" ?
The asteroid mining could be worked into mining for a useable fuel source, which could make asteroid ownership even more important, similar to original Star Trek's dependence on mining dilithium.
* bump * I added a page to my website showing some images from the full 10 minute video, along with a zipped .wmv file for download. My website
I pre-ordered DA earlier this month, and was able to get in on it.
I'd be pleased if we had the remote chance of capturing an enemy ship during a combat resolution and gleaning even 1 technology from it. Though it should only be from those technologies actually aboard the ship.
MAN!? Where have you been? Disney has already been conquered by evil And Uncle Walt is rolling over in his cryogenic suspension chamber.
They already rotate on their axis, but they don't revolve in orbit around the star. It'd be nice eye candy, but wouldn't really add anything to the game except an additional burden to your processor calculating the next position for conceivably hundreds of planets between turns.
...there is more heat in a mouse's fart than anything that you can bring. Mistralok , I think we owe you free drinks for the rest of the night for that one.
Hmm, I just looked at the file. 0110100 , don't name a planet Bullwinkle.
In the game I had, it took two planets from each race as far as I could tell. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the save file and started a new game since the situation turned out to be too hopeless in a Small galaxy.
That's actually a "fake preview" at the end of a longer episode. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough voice clips left over to flesh out the idea. I'd like to though, since the premise has a lot more action in it than the main story in the video, which was totally confined to the bridge.
This YouTube video makes me wonder if it's the orginal poster. YouTube Link
...Umm... okaay. Lame...PARSECS... This is just plain idiotic. I hate this to the point I can't play for longer than an hour at a time because this is so stupid to me...That is stupid. The weeks system is absolutely lame...YEARS. YEARS! ...LAME... <TD c
Thanks, I really can't take much credit for the models as most of them were designed by others and posted free on the 'net and I made some minor modifications to them (they get credited in my full 10 minute version). I added the spinning engine effect to the Enterprise, the Borg ship is just a cube with a "real" Borg texture on it, the bridge came with the Enterprise model, and the characters were all modified from a base model into their current look. I did build the corridor sets, engineering
OK thanks Kryo. EDIT: (hours later) Ok, it's uploaded, now just have to wait for it to be approved.
It's nothing to do with GalCiv, but it's sci-fi. Here's a short animation I did a few years ago as part of a larger project: YouTube Link If I get ambitious enough, I might see if I can import the GalCiv ship models into my animation program.
Another case of a variable string not being cleared just happened to me. In the trade/barter screen, I kept adding techs until the race had no more techs to offer in the trade. So I added one of his planets, knowing he would refuse. He did refuse, but his reasoning was not due to the planet, but due the previous tech I'd selected. For example, instead of saying "[planet name] is too valuable to part with", he said "[last tech] is too valuable to part with".
Nice stuff. Someone should do a mod for The Jetsons.
I made 4 Binked movies of the girl above (happy, neutral, angry, and small for the UP votes), and would like to add them to the Library if anyone thinks she looks interesting. I'm not sure if I'm using WinRAR correctly, as after I move the files into the archive, it seems to be the same size as the films if I were to upload them individually. Do Binks compress at all inside a WinRAR folder?
Maybe it could be done without making one new class for each environment type-- seems like a potential lot of code-- by making it dependent on the type of Colony Module. The existing module could be used for earthlike planets, and expanded to include other near-earth conditions, like barren and aquatic. A second Colony Module could be developed that is adaptable for the more dangerous environments. You'd still be able to run out a ship and have it park and upgrade, but it would have to carry
I had interpreted the journal as meaning if you talked to a specific race, it wouldn't talk to you again for another 8 weeks. Since the last patch, the only times I've not had an opportunity to speak with a race is if it's been within a few weeks of my last negotiation with them.
I ran into them last night too, and since it was after 3 am I decided to save it and decide what to do next. I was stuck in a corner with about 7 planets with only my homeworld and 2 others over pq 10, and the Jagged Knife took those other 2. A major setback, as one of them was my highest pq at 14 and a ship facility, but I'm going to see if I can recover. The bright side is where I was previously behind in the military might chart, now I'm about midway. Even though I'd had ships at one of t
