When you talked about heroes you made them sound like spys and agents, I think that they are going to have that in the Dark Avatar expansion pack. I was indeed, but now with DA, I do see heroes like these : - Admiral : boosting fleets statistics; - Pilot : boosting single tiny-small hull ships; - General : boosting planetary defense on which they are assigned; - Spy : do what DA spies do, but better; - Assassin : elimitate opponents

Internet it will be thanks again for your answer Kryo !

Except for the box, what is the point in buying the Gold Edition (to own DA) when you already have DL ? Will there be something in bonus ?

hey, but one problem remains, mentionned in the original post ! Without espionage, you know the techs researched by the opponents.

Here's an idea to correct the tech trade issue. You select a tech you want to trade and the AI proposes a tech it has that it will trade with you Could be nice to let the AI know which kind of tech would be interesting, in order for him to propose something wanted. And thanks Mistralok for your answer ! I will surely activate this option

Hi, I realized something so far with the espionage system in DL. Two things in fact. Without any espionage spending, I : - Know the technologies my opponents have just by speaking to them; - Know where my opponents are at the beginning of the game just by looking at the mini-map (and who they are if I used random); No big deal, just noticed it. If there is ever a multi-player expansion, those two facts should be addressed because it can alter strategy a lot.

must they have the Alliance tech also ? Or only you need it ?

Hi, I tried to play a game without any military devotion. I am a "Custom Race - Technologist" and I concentrated my researches on trade, diplomacy, all other techs avoiding space militarization. I was to a point where I had a extremly good economy, with "friendly" relations. Then, suddently, the Terran Alliance started a war against me. I cannot battle them, because I am really weak. I cannot form alliances, because no other civs wants to come "close" with me, even with repeted

You two have a point. I would have like though to see a Minor Race "profit oriented". Not war, not colonization, just plain profit through selling ships, techs, etc.. I would be satisfied for the Corporation Idea. As for the smugglers, any thoughts ?

Actually there's a list of offers everyone ignores, and these offers are made by different companies. True, but with those companies, you can buy only a ship created in your shipyard, which mean that you actually have the proper technologies. My idea was to be able to buy a ship, let's say, with beam weapons even if you haven't researche

actually, I wasn't thinking of minor races to be a smuggler group or a Shipyard corporation, but a new panel with some options. But the idea of doing it through minor races is nice. It is possible to have a minor race owning only a starbase (let's say military). That would be nice for a Shipyard Corporation. Once it is destroyed, they no longer make deals in that part of the galaxy. Smugglers could easily have a world (or be part of one)

Just an "expansion" idea for this wonderful game. How about being able to buy ships, information (about other civs, reveal a part of the map undiscovered by our civ so far) and even technology from independent star corporations or smuggler groups ? This is a big universe and it would be believable to have those kind of organizations without any allegiance. The good thing is that we could buy something like a technology without giving money/something else to the maybe enemy. Buy

Range is not a factor. You can place an agent on any planet, regardless of range. Like that. Spies do not always take the usual transportation to go somewhere, so nice that the sensor and/or range does not influence. I thought of a sabotage factor for starports. Could be a nice idea that the spy enhance the HPs of ship being built by the

Yes, and you get a drop-down notification on the side of the screen when one is planted. All you need to do to remove them is have a spy of your own available, go to the planet screen, and neutralize the sabateur. hum... if I understand, the moment I put a spy on an enemy planet, he knows about it ? I though that spies could be undercover for a l

I didn't mean to infect a lot of luck. Basically, my idea was to specify a range instead of a static time to make it look more "real". I don't want to compare games here, but I found that the research system of Rebellion is quite nice (my opinion) because you have no clue when something will be produced by these researches and this reflects, in my mind, the reality. So I though of a "time range" for GalCiv2. Considering luck, if any is to be injected, I would make it extremly r

Hi, I though of something. For the research part of Galactic Civ 2, I think that it would be nice to add a "unknown" factor. Let me explain. Instead of saying that researching "Tech bla bla" will take 22 weeks, it could be a range like 18-24 weeks. The computer could decide when it's over by random numbers or other algorithm. Also, have a 1% chance that this research could be over right now, because of a lucky deduction by the scientists. That % could be tested each week an

same thing here. The problem is that the Map Editor supposes that we installed GalCiv2 in the default directory, which is not my case either. Any fix ?

Not to offend the OP, but I'm getting a bit tired of feature requests based on other games. It was just a way to express my thinking. I don't care if it is like this game or that game or if it is the GalCiv way. Sorry, but the way I found to illustrate it was to give an example.

A game without a multiplayer option, is half a game these days. True ! This game needs multiplayer. It would be incredible to confront a friend instead of AIs !

I like this. For the officer idea, take a look at my previous post (heroes): https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=346&aid=124136#960785 - Use a General for ground forces (defending or invading) - Use a Commander for fighters (tiny and small) - Use an Admiral for Fleets Something like that! A flagship would be cool also!

You should try the game called "Star Wars - Rebellion". Use the biggest universe and you will find EVERYTHING you need to know about the planets, systems, etc... You could even use the same galaxy configuration (which system is where) ! There is so many planets !!!!!

Hi there, I started playing this wonderful game a week ago. My friend, who had bought it, told me to try this game. I do not have a copy yet, but plan on buying one as soon as I go near the game retail store. Alright. I am an hardcore player of Star Wars Rebellion. This old, basic game was so fine in my mind that no game since had come even close to "replace" it. Now, there is GalCiv 2. Thank you, devs ! Ok, to the main topic. There is only two things I miss from
