I don't think there is a pop limit per planet quality, it is just how much food you have. If you transport more people than that onto the planet they disappear/die but you aren't at that limit, so unless there was some Event that happened I don't have an answer.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. In my current game I had 2 class 18 radiation planets and another class 15 one. It obviously paid to grab those 3 planets but I didn't bother with any other colonization techs and just flipped them later. Those 3 radiation planets are among my top 5 planets so they were worth every bit of research I spent to get them. Other games there aren't any really special planets around me that I need a tech for and I get them as I manage to trade for the tech or flip the

I haven't been able to find out what effect having a research or financial alliance with another faction does for me or them. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

Pretty funny thread. It's obvious that people don't even bother reading the thread before spouting off. I had a water planet that just wouldn't produce much in spite of having lots of factories so it may be an occasional bug in DA. If I see it again maybe I will see about uploading the save game to tech support.

I am at least a year and a half into a game and some of the PQ1 planets are still open in AI territory. Seems that they readily grab down to about PQ4 planets but not much lower than that for quite a while. In that this is only my second go is DA I can't say at what point they grab them. And I am running with the latest patch/beta.

While I have started to grab those PQ1 planets that are scattered around my systems, I don't think the AI is putting enough priority on them. They still think of them as PQ1 planets while I think of them as PQ12 planets after I terraform them. In my current game I have 3 of them that the AIs ignored and they might very well be the difference in the game (well ok, so that is overstated, but they make a significant difference).

I would love an option switch so that I don't get asked if I want to sell off all ships that I have when I obsolete the design. I try to keep as few designs active as possible and occasionally I will hit the wrong answer on that question and end up with 500 credits but half my fleet is gone.

I have only finished a couple of games out of maybe 30 or 40. But I have come to play on Medium maps with 6 or more other civs, with most everything else common or abundant. I play on Crippling or Masochistic and the games are always tough. Unlike Civ4 where I would often get a research win, in GC2 I always win (or get close) to a domination win. It just makes more sense to kill aliens I guess.

I am having a problem with the timeline graph at the bottom center of the screen. The right most 1/4 or so is not displaying a line. I am at 1680x1050 resolution on a Radeon 9700 Pro card.

I thought the moons always rotated the right way but we were looking at the galaxy from the other side? Didn't you guys tell us that once? Good work, I'm really looking forward to a further improved AI. And Thanks!

Oooooohhhh, that's sneaky. Now I have to pre-order a game and wait for delivery instead of walking into my local store and buying it the day it comes out. Why would I pre-order the game other than to be nice to your guys (not saying you don't deserve it)?

Well, we complain because we care! While I disagree with Rendorax's attitude I do understand his frustration. GalCiv has a really good AI but all one has to do is play a few games and it becomes obvious where it still needs improvements. 1.2 was a HUGE improvement to the AI and I am really looking forward to version 1.3 and the expansion. It also makes me happy to hear the devs talking abou

Could we get a fix so that the turn button does NOT invisibly extend into the mini map. There are so many times when I am just trying to click on the edge of the mini map and the turn button is activitated and it frustrates the cr#p out of me. This has been a problem since 1.0, could we please get this fixed. In case it matters I am playing at a resolution of 1680x1050. Thanks, Mismatched

You could try installing Stardock Central and let it handle the updates for you. This also lets you install new 'beta' builds when they are available.

It means that your military rank - based on the offensive and defensive capabilities of your ships - and the number of ships you have - is only 7th. Starbases may also be calibrated in there but I am not sure. Don't worry about it, I am always last until someone starts demanding payments from me and then I concentrate on my military until I am 3rd or so. Turn button goes green when all the moves have been made for all civs and it is time to take another turn. Sometimes you will find y

Not only does the AI need to redevelop it's planets if there is a good reason to do so, it needs to do a good job of developing them in the first place. This is the only reason I can win on Masochistic and above. With the bonusses that it gets on the higher levels, if it actually developed planets as well as I do then it would be almost impossible to beat. And that's really what we all want isn't it?

I don't ever build a Spin Control Center. It is one of those features that I consider cheesey to use. However, most everything else said here is spot on. I would maybe emphasize that you need to start building banks soon so that you can pay for all those planets that you managed to colonize. The other way I like to play is on a medium size galaxy with abundant planets but no tech trading. I start pretty much the same way except that I need to concentrate on research a little sooner so

While I do this to some degree, because after all it's the prudent thing to do, I don't go out of my way to take advantage of this. But, if I am attacking another race's starbase I always try to have a constructor on site to take it over. Somehow the first thing seems sort of cheesy while the other is just good planning. I know there isn't much difference between the two, but I try really hard to not use any cheese to win.

S.O.P. for me. I try to stop spending so that just about the time I will run out of money I have banks starting to come online and I don't really need to turn the production slider down much at all. Don't forget to crank taxes up to the point where your population is just over 50% happy and it won't take very many turns to get profitable. Then work some happy buildings in and start building a war machine while researching to Wall Steet. You are almost untouchable after that. And I don

Or when you are ready to attack the Torians if you have a decent tech lead you can bribe some of the other races to attack with you. Of course that doesn't mean they will put much effort into it, but the Torians will have to protect that flank too.

Yeah I know the bonusses are that huge on Masochistic, it is just that even on Crippling or Painful they don't do any better job and they don't get those bonusses then.
