Kryo has pretty much hit the nail on the head. Although GalCiv2 has no real method of multiplayer competition, the metaverse is as close to this as you can get, having the scores of games you play ranked against other members. Heading to the Metaverse and the High Score section of this website will allow you to have a look at the list of players and their respective scores. Joining an empire is also a good way to find out mroe about the metaverse and get a little more out of the game

WoF - thanks for clarifying those bits and pieces. If I may just drop some constructive criticism on yo' a$$. There are currently 8 Orca's members in the top 25 (well profiles anyway). I think Syrrus you and Gallagher count for 5 or 6 of those places. I will be starting up a second character for the purpose of posting DA games to the MV but my posting might slow down a little from now on as I have a masters degree kicking off at the end of Feb...I will also try and slip in a game to my major profile from time to time in an effort to stay in the top 25... It would appear that the metaverse is still down, as my score and standing has not yet been updated. Is anyone else experiencing this at the moment? I haven't had a chance to have a good look at the ladder and see if there are other anomalies or if this is a solo treatment? Kryo any news from the Stardock web team?

gallagher - we hear you mate, there are many people feeling the same sentiment. The Metaverse council has formed as a result of this general disgruntlement with the way the current metaverse works. I believe the Altmeta and the galactic core to be down at the moment (can't get access and the banners don't appear to be working, but when it is up and running come along and check it out. Kryo has written up a query system that calculates metaverse scores slightly differ
