Foreign Stats // Stats // Misc
Yep. This is the main portal through which you can access intel on the other civs. I just fired up the game to check, and even though I have a "low" level of intel on them , I know that the Arceans are researching Medium Hulls.

You can still buy and sell ships in TA. I don't know why you are having problems. If you were more specific in your post, then perhaps someone could give advice.
I'll add CDV to my personal blacklist. I still have a brand new copy of Codename Panzers: Phase 2 sitting on my desk, sealed, in the bag and with the original receipt from January 06. It's sealed because my drive went down before I could install it. Yep, you guessed it- Starforce. The way I look at it, they owe me for the cost of the game, as well as the cost of my DVD drive, and until I get that, they will NEVER get another cent out of me. EA is another I will never do business with
You don't say which version you are playing, as things are *slightly* different between them- I'll get to that in a bit.
I continuously receive updates from other races buildong those "wonders of the universe" improvements
You are not the only person that is annoyed by this. Personally, I don't mind, since every civ likes to crow about it's achievements, and putting out a galactic press release makes perfect sense to me. Regarding your UP question, throu
It's always heartening to see a 'lapsed' GalCiv player come back into the fold. Sole Sole has given some good advice, per usual, but let me expand a bit. 1) The combat system is *basically* the same, in that there is still the 3 offense/defensive types, but there have been changes. As of DA, each weapon on a ship now fires individually, rather than all at once. As of TA, you have the option to let the game design your ships for you (and it does a pretty good job) until you are comfort
Minor races are often more valuable as trading partners (sell them tech and grab the few things they have that you don't-not to mention the economic and research treaties
I have to agree here. The minors are also a nice little buffer, as the AI will tend to go after them before it comes after you. A neat little (dirty) trick is to pay close attention to the GNN, and when you hear that a major has declared war on a minor, send off a fast invasion fleet and snatch it up f
Mistralok, have you posted about this in the Impulse support area?
No, I haven't, as this is something that I only recently noticed. I will post over there today and see what Stardock has to say about the situation. It is possible that my download got borked somehow, but I find it strange that this would be the only thing that happened, since Impulse is fully functional in every other way. I'm not here to trash Impulse. Overall, it has worked very well
I thought it bore repeating, especially since it hasn't always been so. When TA first came out, unarmed command ships were ignored, and could only be lost if the entire fleet was lost. Not so now. This community is different than most out there. We tend to pay closer attention to the details, (which is one of the things that attracts us to this game, I think), and also tend to give credit where it is due. Glad I could be your first...I tried to be gentle. [e digicons]^_^[/e]<
I don't have any one particular fleet composition that I always use, as I tend to put them together for a specific task at hand. One thing you should note, though. Carl Aylward is correct: the fleet assist modules are priority targets. I build this ship with the highest amount of hitpoints that I can muster, and load it with defenses. This makes it my 'tank'- able to withstand the first round of attacks, at which point the other ships in my fleet attack and (generally) shred the enemy
I would like to see a tab for my civ in the foreign relations screen next to those for the other civs. Comparing multiple stats of mine against several other civs is clumsy and time consuming right now. As of 2.0, intel is easier to obtain, but no easier to access. Here is a link to a previous post that goes into a bit more detail: https://forums.galciv2.com/174300 Thanks for continuing to try to make the game the best that it can be.
The people at Stardock that are handling Impulse need to be told that there darn well is a need to do it. EU ships with v1.97 of TA. The 2.0 update is in beta now, and it is a significant one. It is also the final large update for TA, so you will definitely want to get ahold of it. There is no way you can get updates other than through Impulse (or perhaps SDC for awhile), so if you can get a refund, then I say go for it.
I found out that the description was incorrect some time ago. I was looking over the debug.err when I noticed that the game would check for Courage before any ship to ship battle. It's now part of any game I set up. Nice to know how it works, though.
Ah, I see. If you waited a bit longer, then it *probably* would have shown up for you, but since the un/re install went so quickly, it's a non-issue. BTW, how did you uninstall Impulse? I can't find the option anywhere.
I blue orbed, reset data, showed pr-releases and nothing
Just for curiosity's sake, how long did you wait for the update to show up? I ask this because Impulse is slow- mind numbingly, frustratingly, screaming at the monitor slow. It took several minutes for it to finally show up for me, and most of the time it was hard to tell if Impulse was doing anything at all. When the update finally showed up, and I began the download process, it took more than 10 minutes
I'd play though the campaign. It is, in effect, an extended tutorial. You'll learn a bit of the backstory, which is nice for immersive purposes, and by the time you have completed it you will have a pretty good working knowledge of the mechanics of the game. As to which version to start out with; for many games, you would want to work your way through from the first, just to be able to follow the storyline. In the GalCiv series, this is much less important to the actual gameplay.
For anyone following this thread, a little something to make life easier re:2.0. If you don't see the update, first click the blue orb, then go to preferences/folders, and click the "Reset Data" button. This should bring it up. Also, make sure you have ticked the "Show Pre-Release Versions" boxes. This worked just fine for me without re-installing.
you have to uninstall the game first if you used SDC to get it, and then re-install through Impulse.
You can download the beta now (I got it yesterday afternoon), but all of this uninstall/reinstall stuff is rubbish. Impulse will detect any Stardock app and suggest the appropriate update. It doesn't matter when/where/how it was installed.
Silverbeacher is correct. If all of your opponents are set to ally or team, then you will get a first turn diplo victory. Change that and you should be golden. Evidently, the uninstall has left behind a prefs file somewhere. There is another circumstance which will result in what you are experiencing. Ctrl-n may still [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] change your settings unexpectedly. The most common change is to dumb down the other civs. On rare occaisions, it can actu
Hello Dan. You can zoom into a webpage in FF. Hold CTRL and the + or - key. You can also CTRL and use your mouse wheel. This should make it much easier for you to read any webpage. FF2 only does this for the text, but FF3 also zooms all of the graphics/images. FF3 will also remember the pages you modify in this way, so you won't have to mess with them again. As you zoom, the font will get bolder, making it even easier to read.
These are just crying out to be photoshopped. I see Frogboy with claws and fangs, and Karmagirl with a cross in her hand. Evidently, from the empty plates in the background, they needed a snack before doing battle. "I shall send you back to the nether regions, Dark Lord; but first, how about some nachos?"
Someone has to ask it: Do you have the "Tech Stealing" box ticked in the program options?

Yes you can. Stardock is very good about this. You can also archive, so that you can roll back to a previous version if you have an issue.
No, I haven't seen this; but I know you Mac, and if you say this happened, then I believe you. You may be the only one who has seen, or at least noticed this. The chances of that particular planet being invaded during the few turns it takes to build are quite small. Then again, someone could have reported this via email, without bothering to post on the forums.
