Really, the hardest victory is cultural. No one here can deny it. Honestly, I think Diplomacy is the easiest, because all it takes is a few decent techs and some cash to trade and then the alliance. I've been able to win diplomatic victories in almost the same amount of time it takes me to research to Alliances.

Ion, I'd like to see how you do that then (not saying I don't believe you, I'm actually interested in that myself and thought it wasn't possible). You're saying that the non-AI player can pick from any of those 11 styles (as that's what I'm thinking)?
He said 6 PLAYABLE. You can't select from more than six, so you can't play as more than 6.
I like trade because it's often useful, but it's quite possible to get a good economy on the middle levels without, which is very good for the galactic conquering type because it allows you to have an economy that's not depending on you being at peace with certain other races.
Now that it's been all of a day, I've updated this mod. It now features thumbnails for all the blank components. For those that don't read readmes, this post is for you: To install the thumbnails, take them from the UDFM\Gfx\Thumbnails folder and copy them into the GalCiv2\Gfx\Thumbnails folder, because the mod folder doesn't appear to support them at this time. Everything else about the installation is the same as before (and the same as most other mods). The labelling con
Also, if you don't wish your starport to keep building the same type of ship (in other words, want to do one ship at a time rather than a full run) then you can turn off the option to "Continue Building Same Ship Until Cancelled" (or something similar).
ACypress, you should feel special: you're one in 1000! (Yes, useless post...)
If you're making a scenario, can you set what bonuses are on which planets? Just out of curiousity.
I've just released my Ultimate Design Freedom Mod, a mod that takes all components and makes blank copies of them. These blank copies have all of the functionality of the old, including attack animations or special abilities, without appearing on the ship design at all. The blank components also have a single hardpoint facing the same direction as the original on them, so you can stack components as much as you want. With the use of Kryo's Hull System Mod, Socially Hazardous's Weapons
Aha... I understand now... makes some sort of sense, too .
Hmm.... is there a reason that most Weapons and Engines have no thumbnails in their XML file, but still have thumbnails in-game?
TBH, if negative feedback is your concern, you should definitely keep the forums here. People might complain about the issues (I've posted once mentioning the forum's dislike for Firefox...), but here you can not only allay fears but you're showing people that you do care about the game and your customers. By kicking the forums out, you'll make the few (though loud) complainers here happier, but those of us who contently browse and post and revel in the fact that you, the Dev team, actually pay
SWG was quite good before the "Combat Upgrade" and ESPECIALLY before the "New Game Experience." The CU was survivable, and in some respects it actually did improve the game... the NGE just ruined anything good and made the bad worse. This is coming from a player who experienced it all. Really, Battlefront (which is REALLY a ripoff of Battlefield 1942 complete with hard-to-pilot air/space craft) is a good game, but I don't like LucasArt's ripoffs of previously made games (Galactic Batt
One problem with a 3D galaxy is that it's pretty unrealistic. Most, if not all galaxies are relatively flat... if you wanted to make it true 3D that fit in with real space, you'd have a large rectangular prism, with maybe three layers of stars up and down for every 25 sections of stars across... yeah, it might add in depth, but it wouldn't be worth as much trouble as it would be. But then again, it is a game and we don't need true realism, we just need fun <img src="http://images.star
@JubJub15 You say Bush lied to us... this is true. So did Clinton. So did every President before them, some more publicly than others. It wasn't until recent years that anyone cared, so what difference does it make now? We were lied to about whether we'd join WWII... we lost many more people there, and yet very few, if any, people are upset about that. @Morghenes There's no such thing as good or bad people? You mean a man who killed his own people with chemic
This is a good question--can one make their own scripts to add into the game? (Yes, this is a bump lol... I'm doing a lot of these right now...)
Stealing used to be very very rare... with 1.2 it became more common. I find it funny that people used to complain because it never happened, and now complain because it always does (don't get me wrong, I understand why, but I still find it funny).
Shameless bump in hope of help...
The longer the distance, the better. The higher the population, the better. That's all you usually need to know.
Y'know, I've never used fraps and completely forgot about it as far as this is concerned...
Why would the starbase tear apart if you were applying an even thrust from all parts? Yes, one giant thruster on one side of the starbase firing could damage it, but if you equalize the amount of pressure being put on it, it doesn't matter how much force, it's all moving at the same speed... just like a ship.
No point bringing it up. Stardock's heard... it'll probably be in GC3 or an upcoming expansion (I doubt it'll be in Dark Avatar). Sorry, just the voice of realism.
A super low approval rating for not much of a reason at all. If y'ask me, we haven't lost anything in the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan... 3-4k soldiers is laughable, and I don't even think we've officially hit the 3k mark yet. Don't get me wrong, it's not good that our people are dying... but, seriously, look at the numbers. Vietnam, for example: 58,000 deaths. The Civil War was at least 618,000. For crying out loud, we lost 42,000 people to CAR ACCIDENTS last year, and we're complaining about 3-
Interesting update: I was playing the game even with the broken mod on, and I find that the AI uses the new models exclusively (since I kept the old ones in the game, checking the names of the components they used makes this evident)... except for the broken colony, troop, and advanced troop modules. Smart AI there. I also realized that the yellow color (which is "abnormal" according to my first post) is really just the color of the slider indicating the number of people can be increa
...I'm pretty sure Al Qaida did it. Still not Iraq, but Syrian Terrorists? More than likely if they fired a dud we'd go to war with Iran somehow, after fighting half a war in NK. That seems to be the trend anyway. In all actuality, this whole ordeal will probably be lost in whatever local news story ends up coming up soon... kinda like how we pretty much ignored North Korea after the first time they said they had nuclear capabilities. It would be pretty cool if w
