I upgrade defender's every time. There my last line of defence on my good industrial planets seeing as they normaly dont have that high population. A good defender class ship can make or break a defensive battle, using the standard type is just stupid, No offence! Fate,

I've got one aswell once, it was nowere near as dramatic as that though, they just had Jupiter after it became habital (this was on a giant map) and it was so seperated from the rest of them that they didnt even bother puting up cultural stuff, it was mine in i think 6 weeks or so, but thats only because it had micro amounts of population. Indeed, more variaty, and certainly some barriers (maybe some that are constructed ) would be fun. Not a real high priority for me, though. how can you construct a barrier in space!?!?!?! sorry, that just doesnt make much sense to me as space is masive... and if you built a fence, wouldnt it just make more sense for the invaiders to just go over

So Lord Mekos your talking of having a sort of 'recourse' that gives you power that you mine, sey out of astroid belts? Hey brainwave! We get astroid belts in DA so that could work, but it would make it abit like a normal RTS were you have to get resorces to build stuff, instead of just money. I like the power plant ideas in the ship, but the fuel idea would make the game realy logisticaly complex, limiting the number of ships you can build and maintain. It brings up some problems (Interesting how they would effect game play!.)If say your main fuel planet gets vaped by the enemy for whatever reason would the ships supported by it be able to continue or would they just become dead in space? Like i said the whole fuel idea, while good, IMO would make the game require too much m

Finding ship's is really great. It's even better when there tech's are only up to the midranged hull sizes. Here's the story right, I was playing a bunch of normal guys and the korx and yor were completly gone, and they kept finding Precursor Corvette's n stuff and I was getting anouyed that I never got anything, then next turn I randomly found a Ranger... it was pritty sweet! there kinda KICK ASS!!! I did... On a Normal Dificulty Medium sized map in 1.31 I just got them all to like me somehow by having a huge ass millitary and not attacking anyone, and being a good civ and letting them all wipe eachother out of existance, then the remaining guy's I just hit ally with to see if i could because I was bored and wanted to end, and they accepted and I won the game. I played my next game on Suicidal to try it out and they were ALWAYS Wary of me... I couldnt get it any higher...

Anybody had any of those random Flukes from either the UP or just an event that leed's to you winning in some way? I just finished a 5 hour long game on a Med map with 3 Suicidal oponents and they were kicking my ass right I had next to no millitary, was waaayyy behind in tech and only had three planets), being the first time playing on suicidal and all that and well then I got given the UP HQ on Earth, and over the next year I managed to win Culturaly... Your argument makes sense satthukaraoke, but the inbalance of the game is what makes it so much fun! I've developed a stratergy that works against this, sounds like you need it: Get a Large hull say, and with your max miniturisation ability, you nearly completly pack out all of your free space (after life support, lots of senseors and your engins) with the best defences avalible, for all catagorys that the other race's use. I personaly love the tricked up Fighter trick, because even with a miniture logistics leval, if you have say 4 tiny ships onto one medium, or 6 tricked up tiny's onto 2 mediums then the triked up tinys are going to win, because simply put they can target more things. Thats why fighters are so good, you can only destroy them one at a time aswell, which makes it even better! And yes, I agree. there fighter hordes can be anouying, even when your ships smash them without a casualty <img src
