I have the Collector's Edition and I upgraded it to 1.11 (or whatever the current version is) immediately after installation. It worked fine at that point. When I downloaded and ran the three files that are on the www.galciv2.com/collectorsedition page, absolutely nothing was added to the game (I checked ship parts, custom portraits, custom race icons, etc.--nothing new). Unfortunately, much of the game was removed. Sandbox settings (such as No Tech Trading) are gone, enemy race selection gi

The title pretty much says it. The "Creativity" ability increases my research somehow, as I understand it, but how, exactly, does it help me? I usually buy it for my research-oriented races, but I'm wondering whether the point should go elsewhere.

This is much less surprise while I see a colony ship or transporter can hold up to 0.5b ==> 500,000,000 population. Will there be a famine within the ship? Or is this a total misunderstanding because the ship is actually a fridge? No, it's a total misunderstanding because transport modules are filled in groups of one thousand (1,000). The d

6.) Make the Ship Component Rotation Controls Larger -- speaks for itself. I like 5-degee incriments, but sometimes it's just hard to see. What's hard to see? The button that rotates it? If the button that rotates it is too small for you... well, okay, I can see that. If the 5 degress is too small for you, go into Options and change it.

...Ugh, screw that. There's too much emphasis on graphics in modern games, it's nice to see one that PLAYS. Also, such effects might make the game even slower on large maps. Incidentally, I have seen a binary star system or two.

If you're making enough that you can operate at full tilt and still want more, drop your Social and Military to the floor and just BUY your buildings and ships. It's a pretty limited solution, but it works often enough to matter. Example: I have my Social at 5%, my Military at 5%, and my Research at 90%. My shipyards on high-industry worlds gradually churn out ships for me, often with focused-in points from a research facility on a bonus tile, and I have a couple low-industry world

Hmmm... Never tried the PQ abilities, but I might have to with numbers like that. That said, I have no PQ bonuses, and I'm currently playing Gigantic with Occaisonal/Common/Common on Habitable/Planets/Stars, and I got around ten planets of PQ 12 or higher within a few weeks of my capital. One system had an 18 with a 21, one had a 28, and the rest were in the low 20's and high teens. In that same game, the Drengin--who conquered me in my last game--only got their capital & the secon

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Thanks, I hadn't taken time to look through this website thoroughly. I hope that patch comes out soon. On the plus side, I'm becoming very good at locating things on large and confusing maps...

DamnedChoir: OMGWTFBBQ U n00b!!!!!!!1!!1!!kitten!!!!1!!1111! Seriously though, I like the "Death Star" idea. Making it that expensive is a bad idea, but you could simply make some sort of hard cap on the number that you're allowed to build--specifically, one. Make it a Super Project or something.

When the game decides that I'm done with a ship or starbase, it snaps my camera to the oher side of the galaxy and I have to spend a few minutes locating what I was looking at again. For example, if I want to move a constructor and then build a starbase with it, I have to search that whole section of the galaxy before I can build because my camera went ten sectors west the moment I moved the constructor. This "feature" is HORRIBLE. I spend a few minutes every day looking through my

Starbases: I'd like to be able to put multiple construction modules on one ship, be it a huge with extra engines or a large with no extra room. I've taken over entire civilations with influence starbases and DANG is it tedious. I think multiple modules per big ship would be a good compromise here, since it'd cost time and effort but less of it. I'd also like it if there were some high-end weapons for Starbases that would shoot a short distance, say two squares max after a *lot* of resear

I just picked up a "Collector's Edition" (whatever that means, got the code insert but haven't tried it yet) of GalCiv2 at Wal*Mart. It looks like everything I've ever wanted in a game... but I can't install it. When I try to install with the CD's, I get this: Link I've been having a lot of trouble with auto-install programs of games on CD lately, all of them along these lines, so I tried dow
