hmm, so much for that hunch.... was worth a try though. Do you have the latest update for your vid card? if not, then lets see if doing an update will fix this. If doing a vid card update doesn't work, then I don't know how else to help you. The devs should be back tomorrow, so may have to wait until then.

uh, why did you post twice? Sometimes theres a short delay between time of posting and it showing up in recent posts.
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz that might be the issue, try downloading the latest update for that driver and see if it works after that.
yea there might be something in a config file, and that does look pretty wierd. You may also want to post a debug err, there may be a clue in there. Also, is this from Dread Lords or Dark Avatar? might be DL from the background.
could you take a screenshot to show what you mean? Also, check your language settings for the game just to make sure (not sure how to do that though).
Its probably the AMD, which should be solved with an update from the AMD site. At least thats what I've read as I don't have an AMD myself. Theres also a thread about it stickied somewhere, not sure where though....
The HUGE reapeared PQ bug to be fixed pronto pointless playing until it is!!! /signed! Even though I know its the weekend and the devs are off. @Caeili I downloaded it and installed it on Thursday night. What exactly are you having a problem with as far as downloading it? you also need to get the star dock central program too, and that one is free.
I only have one. I would like to be able to download the game. uh, you can you know, through the SD online store.
hmm, might want to update your Bios as its 2 years old. Thats the only thing I could suggest even though that might not help very much.
its still there, do a search for .xml files in the Dark Avatar directory. if you still can't find it through the search, try looking in C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Data\English with the C bieng wherever you installed in and the rest should be the default directory name.
Debug Message: Error flipping back buffer to primary buffer. Debug Message: Device lost I was getting that same kind of thing, theres something about older ATI/NVIDIA cards that does this. Does it work ok in windowed mode? because I play DA and DL in windowed mode with the resolution the same as my monitor (effectively making it act/look like its fullscreen) and I can play it just fine without the game going device lost and blacking out on me. W
sounds like that event is kind of overpowered, sure it needs to be MEGA, but shouldn't there at least be a chance of fighting back? If something like that happened, I'd probably try and fight back or like cornmonkey said, try and weather the storm.
strange, I don't think the game would be doing that, although if you create a custom opponent, I could see how it would happen. I don't know anything about changing the texture of the planet, so other than asking someone who makes mods, might need to create a custom race to do that. Yes its possible to play humans from a planet other than earth, theres the Altarians through some strange quirk of parallel evolution created through the unconsciousness of a sleeping god-like bieng (so goes
I don't think they would neccesarily notice the ships themselves (until they fight them), but they will notice the shift in military strength on the graph.
yea, that sounds like something that could be exploitable by grabbing everything a race owns except for thier homeworld and flagship (if it hasn't been destroyed by then), and then attacking them or whatever. Almost like asking that race to sell themselves to slavery while allowing the decency of keeping thier homeworld. In other words, sounds like putting way too much value in that kind of treaty.
another details.. this only happens to my ship in particular area of the map - one occupied by Yor Collective. Very strange.. lol, thats not a bug, I believe thats the Yor's super ability taking effect, which is that other ships not belonging to the Yor will have thier speed lowered when they enter territory controlled by the Yor. I'm not sure whether it applies to ALL non-Yor ships no matter what or whether allies get an exception.
googled it and it looks like some technical stuff (and really only works for desktops and not laptops I think, plus considering the equipment needed), and I don't keep track of that sort of technical stuff, so thats prob why I haven't heard of it.
^^^ I don't use any hot-keys. also, like you, settings I chose never happened. I turned mega events in a new game and I still get them. I chose to play the game "windowed" (as opposed to full screen) and that doesn't work. It stays in fullscreen. why would I want it windowed? To see my CPU and GPU temps so that if the game crashes (and it has twice) I can see if it is a heat issue (not likely to be since my system is watercooled). uh, what do y
Instead of post debug reports in the forum, it is better to send them directly to stardock at the email they have indicated for bug reports (I don't remember what that is right now). true, but the thing is that we don't know whether a debug err will actually help them find it or not. Not everything will show up in the debug err.
theres another thread about it, its some kind of bug that SD squished in Dread Lords, but somehow cropped up again.
decided to go ahead and put up the debug err of the game I'm currently playing. There are apparently alot of cannot find OBJID and a couple of cannot find a particular texture. None of those affected the game in any way that I noticed. I put up the entire debug err including the several times that I started a new game (bad habit, bleh), theres also a whole bunch of mode switches because I was going from windows to the game which is in windowed mode. Debug Message: Ver
yea I've been noticing this too, the PQ doesn't update properly. I'm not sure whether the morale and pop bonus that goes with it is calculated but the number isn't changing. Cari, Frogboy, or whoever, any information we should start giving for this bug? not sure if a debug err would help. edit: actually, I think the devs are mainly off for the weekend although some of them are sometimes on SDC chat over the weekends. So we will have to wait until monday for a definite answer on
That's a thing of beauty Kane. I can't wait to get DA. How long did it take you? you can download it off from the Stardock online store, you do need an account there but its free, the game costs 20 dollars or something I think. Thats what I did.
I'm not sure how the Korx defect more easily. Anyway, those stats are just the tendencies of each race, but not neccesarily an absolute as there will be games where the race ends up bieng an exception to the way they normally are, while the Altarians in general would tend to have a weak military, but once in a while there will be a game where they end up having a pretty strong military. Although some stats tend to be pretty consistent throughout all games, such as the Iconians
there is apparently a small bug, one that I've just started noticing. The bug is when you set a miner to autopilot to an asteroid field, it doesn't automatically build like the constructors do, it just stops there and reverts to the 1 movement point for un-used asteroid fields, so I have to waste a turn to pull it back out and put it in. Whatever it is, the game is just not recognizing the end point of the miners as an asteroid belt because its treated as a 'terrain' tile rather than a
