Because all this fuss I don't like MP-only expansion. Makes some SP players too nervous. But, since I play only hotseat with friend, why not just make SP expanion and put hotseat in it. It would take 1slot or maybe even 0.5 slots (diplomacy interface, save game system, starting menu, some balance here and there, and that's it).

One of the funny things I noticed is that AI base the price of weapon tech on its research value, not on value of how many tech they would skip if they get it. For example it was very difficult for me to get enemy Phasor tech, since it's expensive. But when AI got Phasor II tech, it was much easier for me to buy it compared to Phasor I, since Phasor II is cheaper. It just means that same manpower sometimes works in factories and sometimes in reserach lab. If you pu 100% to labs, noone works in factories and they don't do a thing. If you put 50% research and 25% to social, 25% to military, 50% work in labs, and 50% work in factories (with half on military and half of research).
I would rather want AI which is better with tech deals, and as agressive as human in that regard. (like Civ4, or maybe Civ3) Also I would like that AI don't buy tech they don't "need" at all. If they have Phasors, there is no single reason to buy Missle Theory, even if his enemies have good shields (missle theory would make no difference).
MOO2 rocked in Hotseat MP with friends. And several other games. Note that this was the time before interened MP was of any significance. Yet all those old games had Hotseat MP and it was great think to play with friends. Who cares about time? Compare that to pen and paper RPG and one computer game is still faster to finish. I hope Stardock could get "1 slot" and do this kind of low time intensive MP.

So basicly, mass drivers and missles need to be much faster, so that unit does not fly off and gives weird screen effects.
On thing I forgot to ask. Please add "tooltip" breakdown for social production, research and some other things in planet screen, like it already exist for military production, influence and approval. It would really be handy.
To clarify some of my points: I would pay for Hotseat MP addon, if it was 5$. But I would rather prefer if it was part of some bigger expansion, with more SP content.
Anyway, I would not go for MP only expansion, since I would only play Hotseat which is smallest part in developement sesne (lets say 5$ per consumer). So I would rather want real expansion with Hotseat (and PBEM since it's similar) added with it.
When we are at "nodding up and down", anybody noticed how silly ground combat looks near the end. With dancing tanks where parts are going up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down. You can even see how traks are not conneced to firing tower, but float.
I would like Hotseat and PBEM MP only, as either patch material (this is the easier form of MP to implement), or part of 1st expansion (which is full of other things). So I'm not for sole MP expansion.
No, upgrades are not too high. They are cheaper then buying new ships.
Basic to Factory upgrade is reallty minor problem. And benefits are good (25% more effective). I usually buy fisrt Factory on every world, so there is no problem with Facories. I usuallt play races that start with this tech, and I see that as benefit, not penalty. Enh. Factories are good thing to. But things to watch are Manuf. Centers (twice more expensive then Enh. Factory). And Industrial Sector (twice more expensive then Manuf. Center).<b
The goal of this mode would be to play Dread Lords, starting with one planet (no fleets and infastructure). Yes, it won't be too hard, but it could really be fun.
I just won Return of the Iconians game type, conquering whole galaxy. But I got no end game movie. P.S. Maybe this happens with other non-standard game modes. For example in campaign, I never seen movie when DL wake up (I've see it only externaly with RadTools).
Torian spreading is their weakness. I always conquer 2-3 planets from them befor they even get ship defenders.
The biggest problem is that other ships built in other worlds can follow these ships in fleets. As well as it's pretty tiny bonus later in the game.
Stellar Cartogtafy only shows location of planets. And that hardly useful for anyone, since you don't know are there conolizable planets, so it's pretty same as knowing where stars are. What I do is to instead of looking for annomalies at start I use my Flagship to quickly scout neighbouring stars, and if there is some habitable planet there, I use my first colony ship for that. Btw, blind exploration option is so cool, I wonder why it's not a default.
Torians like tiny ships and logistics. With proper techs, they either win against DL with first stike, or get one of their fighters killed if DL strike first. Of course, this only wrorks until DL get defense boost. P.S. And I did swtiched to other weapon type as soon as possible. But even 6 in defense is too much for tiny fighter strategy (too low damage per ship), especially, if non-beam weapon is not at high level. And in Apocalypse they sometime
