I've seen this happen, though not since 1.1 (haven't played a 1.2 game yet.) It was usually just a staging zone, and I like to think it is a statement of "look what I could do, should you provoke me.)
You should be doing "beta" stuff for the joy of helping test and make the game a better game.

Seeing the criteria for ranking would be good. Or various ranking lists.
Heck, I think starting relations should be completely randomized, and maybe tied into the game difficulty.

Slow research. Interesting how it levels the playing field. I've only started toying with the settings, using the defaults to get a feel for the game. I like the high habitable planet setting; I had an Influence Victory almost just from my colonial fleets (followed by the IKEA & Wal*Mart Constructors...)

I was "Evil" for one game, and "Neutral" for two others, and I'm still tagged as Chaotic Evil. *shrug*
A MoM sequel would be great, but I don't think any game or company will ever capture the "magic" MoM gave us, waaaay back when. Different time, different developers, and different expectations.
Yea, the larger problem is that stores like Gamestop/EB will take used software pretty much regardless of what it is, and resell it. (Used stuff is their cash cow.)

So I crashed in the middle of a Large game. If I reload, can it be submitted upon completion? How sould I restart - start up a new Metaverse game and then load it?
