I'm playing with an experimental version already.
I'm getting crashes from time to time, but the savegames aren't corrupt anymore, so it's not a big deal!

There's another nice detail, a change in the combat system: Every ship can fire back even when it was destroyed. Makes dominating in a war more difficult and realistic.

It's even better than I thought: Every ship fires, even when it is destroyed in the same round, and there's only one round of combat, making it possible that combat ends in a draw when ships of both sides survive the shoot-out. I'm not sure if the change is there to stay, but I like it.

Ahem... I wish to thank the powers that be for awarding me the "Medal of Racial Victories". As you see, it is the one with the green and yellow ribbon, and a golden triangle emblazoned on silver. It is indeed an honor to serve the Galactic Diplomat empire, and that would be reward and honor enough, but it would not look as cool without the medals. And who doesn't want those two things: To serve the Galactic Dilpomats with honor, and to look cool while doing so? Thanks you for this recognition of my humble efforts.

Yes, I'd like to encourage everyone to try to get it. It's interesting to play all races as there really are differences, and it will show the world once again that the Galactic Diplomats excel at what they do!
It can be confusing sometimes though, you might end up asking: "Wait, who am I at the moment?"

I'll have to admit that jwquinn beat me to it by some hours - thanks to crashing savegames earlier.
