Yeah, they thought that part out, putting them in at their last expansion pack will help keep the game going until GC3 as long as good mods come out, and with Star Trek, Ultimate Sci Fi, X Worlds, Transformers, Star Gate, Babylon 5, The Race mod by gauntlet, i'm sure it'll pan out well. and thats a excellent point, i've learned a lot from modding around myself, but its amazing how many times i've found a solution to a problem i had by loading up another mod and seeing how it works,
Zyxp Right now its just about how to use the mod, its going to be expanded upon in the next release to show how to use the minors as majors and opponents really easily...we are in the progress of a "how to" for modding that includes tips and good programs. Right now though I believe MacMatt has some over at I-Mod for the time being, as well as I think Korx is working with someone else on making a program that will help mod everything.
Yep - BSG is on its way in as well as other popular sci-fi, basically the mark is we need to at least have ships able to represent the races. Remember, this is really really early in its development, so we are counting on everyone playing it to let us know if you run into any problems or see anything that makes it unplayable! :-)

han, you said you were working on the stargate mod back in sept 2006, its now dec 2007, at least you got the races into the ultimate sci fi one (wow this post is lame isn't it? no obviously plugging here)

DarkAvatar - you should always be on the most current version, as thats the one we need to test on. It appears we had a bug that was being caused by an older version just recently, since the update the people having it are fine.
do a search on out of memory in the forums, will see a lot of posts about this issue. It does not matter how much memory you have, all 32bit games are limited to 2gb max, and it actually taps out at 1.5gigs apparently as thats when I get the crash, and I have 4gb of memory and between 8 - 12gb of virtual (which is overkill).
We'll always be tweeking it until we are just tired of it... All races will be in and fully functional relatively soon, I'd say beginning of February based on current time available to mod it. Invasions/Ethic Events by March (thats in and balanced). Of course, between now and then is TotA so...hmmm...why do you ask?
While I'm still playing and modding...I can't say its completely "understandable" to work on a something not out yet when you know something that is out is having a major problem.

I used PandaX http://www.andytather.co.uk/Panda/directxmax_downloads.aspx Its allows you to export as an X file in 3dsMax, also hard points - use the "dummies" and they will act as hard points. Make soure you have the pointing in the right direction! :-) Hope this helps.

So, when the AI is picking hulls to create ships, how smart is it? I'm curious, if we spent a lot of time balancing and testing out hulls, could we make it so the AI knew that choosing one Medium hull over the other was the better option? Since you can change the Cost, Size, HP, Speed, Sensor, etc for hulls, could you make it so it choose the better Medium hull over the outdated version?
